hi! i’m a student looking for a tab. among all options, xiaomi apparently is the most affordable in my brand choices. however, i’ve had a bad experiences with a poco phone not even lasting a good year before it died due to some system update. thus, i’m skeptical of investing in xiaomi tabs 🥹
tried looking up reviews online, most of the feedbacks are good reviews and it’s really tempting esp i’m in a student budget. but the longevity and durability xiaomi products remains a bigger concern especially bc of my bad experience.
i’ve been eyeing the xiaomi pad 6 or 7, i also plan to have a keyboard and it’s pen. i really need it for school, gaming and heavy for drawing. please do share objective reviews! 😓 i plan to check the physical store soon to review the sample devices myself
Xiaomi has always adhered to the concept of “technological equality” and is committed to enabling everyone to use high-quality technology products at discounted prices. Therefore, the product quality is good but the pricing is low, and the profit margin of each device has always been limited. Xiaomi is a company with a strong sense of social responsibility, which is why there are many “mi fans” in China
I wouldn’t technically say they’re cheap.
Xiaomis were stand out cheap in 2015-2020 or so. Now there are plenty of manufacturers selling similarly cheap phones like Motorola ZTE Lenovo CMF Realme Iqoo Honor which, in most cases, have similar value per $.
No, I can’t really comment on that, because I never really needed a stylus
did you also purchase the official pen alongside your tab? it’s really my biggest concern due to reviews that the xiaomi pen has no tilt and horrible accuracy, plus the selective palm rejection and stability. ive seen reviews that it only works decent with xiaomi apps and its not as utilized with other drawing applications

Refering to the tab in a humanized manner.
I got my Pad 7 free with my phone. I assumed it was just another android tablet that I would leave around the house, or watch movies on every now and then, however I’ve found myself using it for school too, and so far it’s been great.
I already own a laptop for school, however this is a large, bulky, gaming one, so I decided to try using the tablet for at least a week. And it worked out perfectly, since most of the tasks I complete in uni, are simply tasks, like taking notes, or watching videos, or research. As of now, I only use my laptop for more demanding tasks.
I purchased a third party keyboard for cheap, from AliExpress and it’s also been pretty good, considering it’s price, giving me pretty much full keyboard access, and a stand. I would say however this does not replicate the feeling of a laptop, it does still feel like you are using a tablet (not that, it’s an issue). However, this is probably because I got a cheap offbrand keyboard – if you were to buy the official Xiaomi keyboard, I’d assume the experience is much more complete.
Hope this helps
I have a Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro and honestly it’s pretty good.
I only really use it for media consumption and it does support HD netflix and prime so no problems there.
Haven’t used the pen or keyboard attachments they offer but haven’t really heard any complaints.
The only complaint from me is when you boot the tablet up and unlock it you need to give it a minute to finish loading the launcher and apps. Oh and if you have app update pending it will install then whilst you are using the app which is a bit annoying.
To give you an idea, do you know how much an iPhone costs to produce? Less than 100 dollars, the brands with the greatest marketing are undoubtedly overrated
Because they KNOW what we need on a tablet, other brands like Samsung and Apple kinda add irrelevant features to increase prices when something as basic as more storage space is neglected.
I’m rocking a Redmi Pad Pro and I’m happy with it. Though it lacks power but it’s still more than enough for basic needs like browsing and watching videos. Its storage, speaker, battery, and screen quality are the best in its price range, and that’s what people need when using a tablet for basic needs.
If I need more power I’d get the 512GB version of either the Pad 6s Pro or the Pad 7 Pro for sure, at a way cheaper price than other 128GB Samsung and iPads. I hate how brands are capitalizing too much on storage space, literally one of the cheapest components to manufacture yet costs so much to upgrade
A friend of mine owns the 6 and it’s great, I’ve tried it and it is very responsive. With a flagship CPU you get really great performance.
If you’re really on a budget maybe check Lenovo tablets like p11 or M10 plus, I own the M10 Plus 3rd gen, for 200€ and the writing isn’t really bad, mine is kinda slow in terms of opening apps now, but the writing part keeps solid.
You asked about why other brands are so expensive: Samsung, has a really robust writing recognition technology, probably the best one out of all writing tablets, specially on their default app SNotes. You can get cheaper versions of Samsung S tablets like the S6 Lite or FE versions and still have this same pen to screen recognition, the only change will be in performance, but writing/drawing is not really affected. Apple imo has the best tablets overall, in terms of writing in drawing is really solid, you don need to get the pro version to get the top performance, also the apps are better and third party apps work better with the pen(this doesn’t happen in android), but you either get a second hand ipad or get the new one of the most basic ipad and still pay a lot because the pen and other accessories are not included.
I’ve also seen OnePlus tablet, but only on videos and it seems to be pretty solid as the Xiaomi one with a flagship processor too.
She?
Got a Pad 6S Pro for my dad and a Pad 6 Pro for myself. Both are better built and perform better than anything Samsung offers at a similar price.
If money is a big factor, I suggest looking into a Chinese model, since those are usually cheaper. The only problem with them is the Chinese software, it is difficult or even impossible to flash the global or some third-party ROM on them. The Pad 6 Pro is China-only, and I don’t have an issue with the software, though your mileage may vary. Google services are easy to get running, and the China ROM gets updates faster, although the support time is shorter.
The 6 Pro and 6S Pro both get proper flagship chips (SD 8+ Gen 1 and SD 8 Gen 2), so if you value gaming performance, then the Pad 6 Pros are a better option than the Pad 7. The 6S Pro is also faster than the 7 Pro. The big advantage of going with the Pad 7 would be longer software support.
Xiaomi brand is the flagship and the others (Redmi and Poco) are budget. I have a xiaomi 14 for a year with flawless experience. If you buy flagship you get a better experience than buying budget. Redmi pad pro is budget and it’s specs show that. Xiaomi pad is premium xiaomi tablet and it’s specs reflect that.
Btw I also own a Redmi phone for almost 3 years now and it’s still going strong. My friends also use Redmi phones for years up til now. You probably got a defective unit or just a bad model of poco.
Go buy it. I’ve watched reviews of it on yt and they’re good. My classmates have the Pad 5 and 6. They’re all going strong and I’ve borrowed them sometimes to play games and watch movies and the display and speakers were great. They’re smooth too.
because they want to.
And why is that genius?
it’s not about the price of manufacturing by the margin of profit.
Apple has a large margin of profit.
I’ve had a PAD 5 for about three years.
She is PERFECT.
I bought a PAD 6 for my mother, she is delighted with it!
Honestly it’s the best value for money by far!
I advised two other people who finally bought the PAD 6, they thanked me
my bestest options rn based on budget are xiaomi pads and samsung. i’m particularly biased with samsung due to my prolonged user experience, however, their 256gb tabs are way above my budget. i’m contemplating if i should wait later this year for discounts, but that’ll take too long bc i need a device rn. on the other hand, i cant seem to trust xiaomi despite their affordability bc of deadbat or rebooting issues i encountered with poco m3 and some recent pad7 deadbat issue reviews here on reddit 😫
Huawei before and after Xiaomi Pad 5. There aren’t much Company which makes good tablets anymore. Which means: the ones with the best Hardware and lowest price can be Market Leader. As I am aware you can best be go with Samsung, Apple, Microsoft (Surface) or Xiaomi in my opinion
noted, tysm!!
Why do you think apple is worth what is worth… Because they sell for over 1000$ ipads and phones that costs to manufacture what… 100$ maybe 120$?
Owned a few Xiaomi and Redmi products and they are great value for money and no they aren’t designed to be poor quality at all. Just be clear about what you need and buy the right thing for your needs. Like if you need a good media and drawing tablet… Don’t buy the Redmi 8.7 with 4gb ram and 64gb of storage. Go for the Xiaomi Pad 7 or 7 Pro
Probably coping with the fking ads of every app pre installed in the fkin os. but you can mute them
isn’t it a bit sketchy 😓 with so little profit i’d assume the quality and longevity is not comparable to other well known brands. did you own any tab prior to mi pad 7?
Xiaomi makes very little profit (5% or so) on their devices. This puts them ahead of others in price/value. I just got a pad 7 a few weeks ago and it is great but I don’t use the pen.
I got mine for free with my phone but I’m really happy with it. Never tried any other brands tablets so I can’t really compare in that aspect.
