This is a controversial take it seems but here goes nothing.
I have never understood why people dislike hyper OS. My entire life I used iPhones and only recently switched (January 2025 ) to the Poco X7 Pro from an iPhone 11. I always wanted to switch to Android but the foreign operating systems like One UI and pixel OS were holding me back. Since they were so foreign to an iPhone user. When I saw that Xiaomi had very similar software to IOS I was immediately impressed since it was familiar to me.
HyperOS is just as smooth as IOS was on my iPhone 11 and just as smooth as the software on my sisters iPhone 15. The animations are smooth and beautiful. The control center is extremely intuitive and I love how Xiaomi keeps the notification section and controls separate instead of combined like IOS.
The settings menu is extremely familiar and intuitive. The phone has far more customizatikn than IOS too. I have encountered zero bugs since using hyperOS.
So am I just some lame former iPhone user that doesn’t know what good software is?
Or do I have a point? Let me know.
Let me put perspective on most users opinion. Hyperos works fantastic on high end or flagship phones but not so good on midrange phones.
My TikTok app starts to freeze every 3 days whenever I try to like a video. The low battery sound is being played twice while playing games with vertical screen. Some apps have delayed notifications, like Instagram sending notification after 2 minutes for a message. The calendar app icon dissapeares sometimes for a split second. Randomly switching to 60 fps even if it’s not warm. And those are not even all bugs ive had and its surely not a virus.
I like it enough.
It’s definitely got a few annoying little gimmicks… Like, Idk… Holding Space-Bar to scroll the cursor back through text only goes left/right but not ‘up’ a line like on iOS.
There’s a few tiny things like that. But all in all it’s pretty great
Got to say I absolutely hated HyperOS when I had the Xiaomi 14 and still kind of did when I bought the Xiaomi 15. However 2 months in I’m getting used to it. Having said that I like HyperOS features on my Poco M6 which has a few useful things that the Xiaomi 15 doesn’t have like double tap to switch off screen.
It’s a decent skin but one thing that really gets on my nerves is the 10 second countdown to make changes. Urgh get rid of that BS Xiaomi
I like that cn and global roms are similar. With Vivo they are totally different
My Poco X6 Pro isnt a low end decice, but it still has a bunch of bugs, and even if it is low end it doesn’t mean that it needs to be crap
I wish I could go back to HyperOS 1
Poco is a mid range brand
Idk… I have an X6 pro too and I have none of these bugs 😅
It is much smoother and faster than One UI 7. It seems very equivalent to the Pixel skin, a very stock Android experience. One UI 7 has more configurability through Good Lock, but for day to day use, it is fine.
You know what I do like hyper os 2 but I wish there was more options and settings for me to adjust like Samsung’s one ui and I would like a aquivilen to goodlock and a bit more optimization because my Poco f6 lags sometimes in the UI but accept these smaller problem I love it
I like the OS as well!! I love it actually, I can’t switch from xiaomi since I had a xiaomi phone.
I think some people just really criticize it for its flaws and development-related bugs (that all OS have), and most of the time, those comments help devs recognize and fix things. With that, they’re kinda helping us have a better experience too, so let them be hahaha
Same for me. I’m still with the 12S note and I find it very good for what I do with it.
that was a major update, 2.0.200 also increases smoothness so much more. I hope that is the main issue.
what kind of bugs do you encounter? my Redmi is intact.
Hyoeros is totally fine. I use it for 3 weeks. No complaints. No access for settings on pull down menu. But its fine.
For X7 Pro it is factual
I haven’t encountered a single bug and I think hyperos 2 on this is really well made like very polished
Animations are really smooth
Ofc if you Switch from an old iPhone 11 to a better device it will feel better
It was just as smooth as an iPhone 15 which came out last year if you read the whole post.
HyperOs is ok. But I have to admit I prefer Samsung’s OneUI.
what version of HOS do you have exactly? thanks.
I can access the settings from the pull down menu on my x7 pro. It’s just a shortcut that you can add easily
No man, that’s fine to have your own opinion. I agree, hyperos gets the job done and that’s enough for me, considering the hardware I got at this price (i own a poco x6 pro).
HOS is literally great, people are ignorant.
btw, if you don’t have HOS 2.0.100 or 2.0.200, those will have an even smoother feel.
MIUI and Now HyperOS has been my go too UI experience for the better part of a decade. All UI’s have issues to be sure, but I like the “feel” of the Xiaomi OS skins.
The main problem is that, man, for example, my wife always used the control center combined with notifications on her old Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. And, when you buy Note 13 Pro 5G with Hyper OS 2, you can enable it with no problems. But, we bought her Xiaomi 15, they just disabled the way to turn it on – even via adb, you need to root the device for it. For her, it’ll always be split into left and right.
There’s no problem with doing something new. But if they remove the control buttons on the bottom and force me to use gestures with the next update, I’ll just throw the phone out of the window, and buy a new one.
Don’t kill the customization options you once had to “move” the people to the new UI. New fonts, themes, animations – it’s all great. But not the controls. I don’t really care if the default needs to be like an iPhone, I just want a way to get it all back like it always was for me.
But at least we bottom for the settings when u Scroll down the panel. I wish they also include power bottom like Samsung does when u pull down the menu.
Notifications disappear from the lock screen! That’s a major problem for me !
Its just personal preference and comfort zone and the how the squeaky wheel gets the attention on the internet
i moved from ios to samsung about 10 years ago and people were complaining about samsung’s UI but it still gained market share til today.
now i move from samsung ultras to xiaomi ultras and it feels like deja vu.
Sorry to hear that but I’m afraid that is a problem with your unit. I experienced nothing of what you’re writing.
The animations lag after phone restart, and many other things and bugs
I actually like HOS, I don’t understand the hate.
That’s what i meant
the HyperOS/MIUI hate comes from the heavily stripped down versions on low end phones.
that’s not exactly HOS, it just shares the same name, 😅
Global and CN are not similar in HOS… they have a completely different feel. they just look the same.
2.0.101.0
There are major bugs with the China ROM and notifications being delayed/not showing at all
Also bugs with the “App Behaviour” where denying a permission doesn’t do anything but at least it shows you what’s looking at what
other than that it’s all good
i dont love any os, nor had grudge against any os.. based android, it is
I’ve seen people saying this. HyperOS 2 is really like a Russian roulette, for some people its good, for others it’s very bad.
I literally have that, tho I use China ROM.
that is pretty terrible, I’m sorry about that… I have a chinese model, it’s called Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition.
and in MIUI 14 last update, it has no bugs at all, perfectly smooth 😅 (but I use it on HyperOS 2.0.200.0)
please report any bugs in the report app, the devs really do listen.
One of the reasons I bought the Xiaomi 15 is that it has HyperOS. Coming from Poco 15. I think it’s a cool and feature rich OS.
Loving it so far on my F6 Pro!
This update is like a Russian roulette, some people have issues, others don’t
People aren’t ignorant, they are just saying the wrong things that this OS has
