Hi, all!
Tl;Dr: it’s okey to be sceptical and critical to Xiaomi, their software (MIUI) and official ROM’s, but it seems to me like it has become trendy to take a piss on Xiaomi’s products in here, and I don’t think that’s fair. Xiaomi has surprised me with a very positive user experience with their Mi 11.
It has been a couple of weeks since my Mi 11 and I were acquainted, and coming from an iPhone, I was a bit anxious as to if I was going to like this phone, and the transition to android + MIUI.
I was considering getting another iPhone (11 or 12 series), a Sony Xperia 5 II or waiting for the OP9p, and had to do a bit of research before making up my mind. Being a redditor, I read through r/SonyXperia, r/OnePlus and r/Xiaomi, looking for user reviews, positives and negatives, and so on…
From what I found, OnePlus was out of the question from the very beginning, it just didn’t seem like a good choice from what I could find in there. “Software that gradually is getting worse by every update”, and “software support that is sub par” were something I found being mentioned on reddit and in youtube reviews from world famous reviewers.
Sony Xperia seemed like a very good choice, their subreddit is all in all a very positive and happy place that is making me believe that Sony actually is a big contender in the “Best overall experience” in the smart phone market. But taking a minute to search the web – I found speculations that suggested that Sony would be closing their smart phone division very soon, and YouTube reviews hinting to the same fate of Sony phones, so I though “what if i buy a phone that looses it’s software support just after i get it”. Also, I found that Sony Xperia phones were not that easy to get a hold of.
When I started researching the Xiaomi Mi 11, I found that YT reviewers were very positive about the phone and they seemed a little surprised that MIUI has become so good lately. Turning to reddit though made me a little disappointed. So many negatives, and so many people saying that Xiaomi software and support sucks.
Long story short, I jumped the gun got the Mi 11 despite what I was reading in here. It’s been three weeks now, and so far, I can’t say that it has disappointed me in any way. This phone is a fucking beast and the software/UI is way better than what some of the people in here wants me to believe. Sure, I have had some small issues with it, but I managed to fix it without unlocking the bootloader and compromising the security of the phone.
Is it better than the Xperia or OP phones? Fuck if I know, I just know my phone is doing a great job and fits my daily needs. Fast charging, battery size, software, camera, etc. Is awesome (probably not the very best, but up there with the best). All in all a very good package at a very affordable price (compared to it’s competition).
So guys, it’s okey that you’re not 100% satisfied with every choice that Xiaomi made when making your device, but please stop making so many negative remarks about their software and products. It’s okey to point out what you “dislike”, but if you’re only talking about the negatives, don’t forget that you’re not only taking a piss on the products – but their owners/buyers too…
That’s reassuring to hear. I’ve always had to compromise or use work arounds due to software bugs. However, I have only ever used their budget or midrange phones. Fortunately, xiaomi generally rolled out software updates with fixes fairly quickly.
Can anyone comment on differences between flagships like to mi 11 and budget options?
My household has had 6 xiaomi phones overall in the last 6 to 8 years (lost count) and been happy with them. They’ve all been better than expected quality wise and honestly I don’t know what the issues are with miui. And if you don’t like it so much slap on a launcher.
All have had great battery life, reasonable cameras for their time and my husband gets years and years out of his. They’ve impressed me more than a recent Samsung purchase did. I just wish they were readily available in Australia. We tend to stick with the under $500 versions because we don’t get warranty but so far have never needed it.
I haven’t done any research, so arrest me if I’m wrong, but:
Apart from Sony Xperia and Apple (and possibly a few other small companies), who doesn’t spit out 10+ models a year? Samsung has 10 5g phones models and 5-6 4g models released in the last 12 months, even more if we take Exynos/Snapdragon models into account. Oppo (owner of OnePlus) has more models than I can count. It is nothing unique to Xiaomi.
That is perfectly normal, if there weren’t people with positive experience, Xiaomi would not be able to sell that many phones, even with all the free marketing provided by Youtubers (who are compensated by free products for their reviews).
But there is a value for critical reviews too, maybe more so than positive reviews. Because there is a high chance those reviews were made by long term users, and they were not compensated for those reviews.
The most important caveat of negative reviews is their scale. Majority of users are silent, and people are more inclined to post a negative review than a positive review
Redmi note 10 prp, the new realme.. ~300€
>on flagship lines like Mi11 and such, it will be a charm
wouldn’t be so sure, unless mi6 wasn’t/isn’t is their “flagship” line
I only care about the hardware. It takes 2 mins to uninstall miui software and install 3rd party apps
Using a 10T Pro. Loved the MIUI iteration on this one. Had no bugs on Android 10. Then came Android 11, and it made things so bad, I had to rollback to Android 10 and disable updates.
Even on flagships, MIUI is just.. unpredictable.
first thing, for a long time i had issues with music playback, the volume was low and song had to idk how to describe this, low tones had to kick in to bring back the normal volume (i think that’s the best description i can make)
second thing, there was a (only, according to xiaomi) security update which brought enormous battery drain
third thing, last year’s launcher update brought constant crashes due to not having google feed on android 9 and lower (idk how they even tested it, looks like they didn’t bother)
and i believe there is still bug where while you talk on apps that use microphone (like whatsapp or fb) and when you receive and answer call, your caller won’t be able to hear you
that’s the main issues i can remember to this day even tho i no longer have this phone, but i’m sure there were more, especially when coming from android 7 to 8 and 9 later (as it’s tradition for xiaomi)
ram management was also poor, but that’s like in every xiaomi phone, so i won’t talk about that
The hardware that xiaomi uses is pure shit, I don’t blame the software.
While it is true that MIUI can be buggy , for me the experience has been excellent so far. (2 years, switched from MIUI 11 to 12) I think a part of the problem is, that when something works, most people don’t say a thing.
Why should they? We expect things to work. BUT if something isn’t working we will always complain. I’m not trying to defend MIUI because my experience is not everybody’s experience.
I hope you understand what I mean when I say: More people will complain when something does not work than compliment something that is working.
That’s their Main Problem, they’re product lineup is huge.
Supporting that many devices properly is hardly possible to do well for any company.
But otherwise I do quite Like their products.
” “Software that gradually is getting worse by every update”, and “software support that is sub par” ” Are you sure about this? OnePlus is known for uqite the opposite. Fast updates and clean/sleek OxygenOS which is the envy of every phone manufacturer.
I’ve had a farily wide experience with Xiaomi (dad and sister: Redmi 3 Pro, brother: redmi 4 pro, mum: redmi 5 plus) and me with a Poco F2 Pro. WHat I’ve noticed it’s that it is a brand not really worth spending much on. Updates will always be hella late and few, no matter how much you spend. In general, it seems to me that the best thing to do is to get a good MIUI update and stick with it for a loong time.
My previous phone was a Huawei Mate S. Beautiful phone, mid to low range. It barely recieved a single update from Huawei, but I coulnd’t find a single bug in the whole thing after 4 years.
My dad’s cheap ass Redmi 3 Pro had little to no bugs (and stopped updating years ago) compared to my very new flagship killer Poco F2 Pro. Ironically, it seems that buying a more expensive Xiaomi phone only means that you’re extending the pain that is their broken updates and you are exposed to things like major Android updates that are again a massive broken pain. Obvs there are cool features to MIUI, but they often are broken or awfully integrated with the standard Google ones, making it all into a mess.
Also, while their “quality” has gone up, their actual quality seems to have diminished. My dad used and abused that Redmi 3 Pro for 4 years making thousands of hours of call on it. Droped it probably over 50 times and replaced 5 cases. That thing kept on chugging and a 4$ battery replacement bought it a extra year of life.
A battery replacement for my new Poco is some 70$ easy. it’s no wonder the Redmi 3 Pro was the most sold phone in India, a harsh low end market where people still expect repairability and long life from their devices.
I’m what people would call a “knowledgeable user”, like most likely are on this subreddit. That is, someone who’s hobby is also tech and who is very aware of the value and limitations of the product he’s buying. Someone who isn’t too afraid of “getting their hands dirty” and having to deal with buggy products. That being said, even after 4 Xiaomi phones bought, I was shocked by how broken some of the updates have been on my Poco F2 Pro. A device that has a SD865 and cost a pretty penny.
In truth, I wanted to buy a Redmi 9T Pro, but that phone was too good to last, and after less than a year it was literally inexistant on the market (including the used one). It was suggested to me by a guy who works at a Xiaomi store, that it was no coincidence, as the new Poco F2 Pro had just come out, barely an upgrade but much more expensive.
I think so too. But like other companies do, they can have a separate software development team for each lineup. Usually the flagship line should get way more attention.
Yeah, I mean company Management isn’t my area, but Sounds Like it would be a good Idea.
Only thing that i dislike is that headphones crackle (bluetooth) when playing sometimes (i am 100% sure this is miui error and not hardware related)
Until Xiaomi fix the stuttering video on the Mi Note 10 (it’s been shite since day 1) I wont trust them 100%
I was always a Sony user until I got the OG mix. It was then I realised that Sony phones are plagued with issues. Software mostly but hardware too.
I had an Xperia S and the light on it died after 3 months, Sony wouldn’t accept it under warranty because it didn’t “affect the functionally of the device”. I beg to differ since it acted as the notification light but whatever.
Then I had an Xperia Z Ultra, I enjoyed it in the short time I had it but I dropped it and it got a tiny chip in the corner of the screen, it wasn’t even over the display, it went over the black bezel but the way those screens are made meant that the touch just instantly died.
Then I had a Z3 compact and within two weeks of each other the headphone and charging ports died, Sony did replace that on warranty but it wasn’t long until the headphone port died again.
My then girlfriend had an Xperia XA1 and with absolutely no damage the outer 1cm around the perimeter of the screen stopped working.
Then I had a Z5 premium, the proximity sensor was broken, whenever I got a call I had to reboot the phone because the screen wouldn’t come back on, and the headphone port broke again.
A friend had an XZ2 and when that mysteriously died he got an L3 which… Shocker also died.
Then I saw the advert of what, at the time, was an impossibly bezel-less phone, the Mi Mix. That is still working perfectly today, with a replaced battery is as good as day 1. I also found MIUI to be SIGNIFICANTLY more stable than Sony’s near stock android.
Sorry this turned into rant but fr, fuck Sony phones.
> “Software that gradually is getting worse by every update”, and “software support that is sub par” ” Are you sure about this? OnePlus is known for uqite the opposite. Fast updates and clean/sleek OxygenOS which is the envy of every phone manufacturer.
Yes, I’m sure about that! Just visit r/OnePlus and have a look, or check out MHBHD and MrWhoseTheBoss’ reviews. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
Due be its the opposite. Great hardware for the price and very bad software.
You can’t slab on a launcher properly anymore as gestures got broken when the android 11 update. Pathetic performance from xiaomi.
I’ve seen plenty of reviews of all One Plus phones, and all gloat on the software while commenting on the ever increasing price and lower overall value.
I’ve also used OnePlus phones myself and they are leaps and bounds ahead of MIUI in terms of smoothness and reliability.
I don’t understand how criticisim in this is subreddit is “being negative” but others doing the same thing in r/OnePlus is somehow gospel…?
Few years ago, all of my family use xiaomi. Different model have totally different user experience. I jump ship and use Samsung, both flagship and lower mid range the ui experience is consistent.
Now I am giving xiaomi another try. Wish me luck.
Your phone is new mate, you’ll change your mind after a few updates
Bro I have been daily driving the Redmi k20/Mi 9T for the past 2 years now. It’s running on miui, I haven’t flashed a custom rom yet and the experience has been very consistent. Yes, it’s not like stock android but you can easily make it however you want it to be using nova launcher. My mom has a OnePlus 6, my dad has a OnePlus 8 pro so I can assure you the experience has been equally consistent on my phone. Yes it’s not as fast because it has the Snapdragon 730 but it’s consistent and there have been no random shutdowns or freezes till date.
I came from Xperia Z1c, ZR (old I know but their rooms are just perfect with minimal bugs what so ever etc2) then I tried Asus Zenfone 4 (like the 2014 ver) and quickly I can’t bear Zen UI in which I flashed some unofficial cyanogen mod that I still use (as a Spotify device) til this day.
Then I bit the bullet and brought a Huawei Honor 5C, and in just after 1 major update (Nougat) it literally just made my experience from meh okay to a buggy, glitched, unstable mess which is EMUI.
It was hard for me to switch back to Chinese brands because of how much they alter the UI making the base android sometimes unusable (I remember forcing my way to unlock my 5C because simple social apps like FB and Twitter just crashes after 15 secs on EMUI) but knowing xiaomi and their implementation of MIUI plus that you can easily unlock the device, it was a no brainer for me to buy a Xiaomi although I was ready to face the bugs.
3 years and a broken Mi A2 (don’t accidentally charge using a macbook charger and yes my fault lmao) and Poco X3 NFC later, I can now summarize my experience with xiaomi products:
1. Launch ROMs are always the best, have the least bugs and the most stable, at least in my experience. Also have good support cycle, updates etc2.
2. Of course don’t ever hastily download that update, make sure it is safe to update first, as in, the update doesn’t literally brick your device. The xiaomi subreddit is the best place to start and if you can found your model’s official Telegram group, that’s even better!
3. As I read the comments before, they are inconsistent in terms of stability. My first MIUI what I can say is good but not perfect. It’s like wearing a half-assed ironed shirt. There are still creases here and there but it’s usable. My current gripe on my X3 is that u get some annoying visual bugs here and there like broken widgets because MIUI thinks that your Google Keep app is eating up 25 percent battery in 1 hour.
4. Community. Your model’s telegram group is one of the direct and good ways to ask for help or opinions. Having a great community support is something that I missed from my Xperia days 🙂 because whenever you have a problem, you don’t feel like you’re alone. Good luck asking for solutions if you’re using a Huawei (in my past experience of course, btw shout out to HassanMirza tho for making my phone usable again with your custom EMUI ROMs 👍)
5. Options. There are always options to flash another rom if MIUI decides to idk break your GPS while your life depends on it (the reason why I custom rom’d my A2) but I still believe Xiaomi will always try their best to support their phones running on the latest security patch etc2.
Imho, we could all blame xiaomi for pushing all these new phones every 3 days while having their engineers trying to support all the 7 million different models at the same time. But we could also blame ourselves for being greedy wanting the newest fastest cheapest smartphone every 6 weeks because all in all, they’re just a company that sells smartphone (yes ik they’re more than that, but you get the point) so when there’s demand, you always need to supply. A second too late and your window of opportunity is closed by other phone companies out there.
Anyways, I’m happy with my X3. Do I love MIUI? Yeah of course but I really hope they fix it abit, iron out the problems and all. I’d rather have a 6 months update cycle with a good software rather than having updates being shoved down your notification throat every month with the updates not fixing existing issues and adding more lmao.
Will I flash to a custom rom? After my warranty expire of course 😂, I’m an Asian anyways 😂😂😂😂
Maybe there might be some issues with the applications you use or something. I bought my phone in December 2019 and it’s running on MIUI V12.0.7 Global. Actually even I purchased my phone here in India and it had the Indian rom but when miui 12 was starting to roll out for my phone, I couldn’t wait for the ota update and in a hurry downloaded the global version and flashed it using miui updater. I haven’t unlocked the bootloader yet, I am talking about flashing using the built in updater. Try using the global version, maybe that has less issues with you.
I’m so scared of flushing lol. Bricking scares me
That’s great then. If I need a custom rom I’ll ask in the Poco community once i get the Poco X3 Pro
Always thought messing up once would brick it
I just got my first xiaomi phone less than two weeks back and it’s running miui 12.5, I wa skeptical at first but it’s pretty amazing so far. Everything’s so snappy and I hardly notice any bugs (could just be my usage). I never use stock launchers but the MIUI stock launcher is pretty usable too.
The F3 is over my budget. Can’t seem to find it on Amazon.
How do you go back to android 10?
You know, a phone is good enough, if it serves the purpose you are are buying it for.
You just can’t get the absolute best. As far as I have seen, reviews comes from personal bias, rather than a general opinion, so what someone hates might be something that you like. I like MIUI, regardless its flaws and that works for me very well.
Best overall experience is always on samsung… these phones always ready for almost all use cases that you can imagine… They can handle hdmi, ethenet also they feature dex (even wireless and windows-dex). You can change and set up everything you want… You can set how fast charging will be for example (to spare battery)…. just a very rich setting options
On xiaomi? MIUI acts as the most customizable and rich rom ever…. even tho its not true at all. you can set nothing. Xiaomi phones will charge the fastest they can no matter if you are in hurry or not…. Xiaomi phones do not even poses with video output via usb-c (so they also can do nothing like dex). if they include this feature in futere, the will not be able to turn it on on the older devices.
Many stocks android APIs do not work on MIUI… (filmic pro have stoped support MIUI, android “forced desktop mode” do not work cause xiaomi miss launcher for this mod and on latest miui it dont even turn on due MIUI own way of screen mirroring…)
Im using POCO F1 and im planing to use it for a while longer. Never try unlock bootloader and custom rom and all that yet. But overall, the device served me really well over these 3 years.
You have to edit some files in the fastboot rom zip to disable anti rollback protection. Then you can roll back to Android 10 using Mi Flash tool.
So is it like rooting the phone? Will my warranty be void if I follow this procedure?
Unlocking bootloader/rooting doesn’t void warranty unless the phone cannot be fixed via software ways. [https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-india-clarifies-bootloader-unlocking-does-not-void-warranty/](https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-india-clarifies-bootloader-unlocking-does-not-void-warranty/)
Ah alright. Thank you for the information!
Miui is very smooth and neat on my note 8 pro, but it still sucks and I would prefer any other ui over it.
Don’t understand how it will be any different on Xiaomi flagships.
That’s the perfect word to describe Xiaomi, unpredictable.
Redmi user and no problem with miui so far.
I have mi Mi 11 for two months now, and my overall experience it’s great! It’s a fantastic phone, great video shooting capacity, crazy fast. Just one or two bugs, that were corrected with system updates. The only thing I think it’s worth mentioning it’s the phone temperature, it get high after a while (specially when gaming). That’s a characteristic of the SP 888, so not entirely Xiaomi’s fault.
I’m the end, I just love this phone.
Second that, I’ve also said let’s give Xiaomi a try and I’m happier with my Redmi phone (🤞🏼) than I was with my previous Xperia. I’ve even bought a bicycle pump from them now haha, and looking forward to see the car.
yeah i agree totally, the only bugs i get are when i try to do like 10 things at once, but apart from that my phone has lasted almost 2 years
same! still rocking my 4x. I switched to mi9t because the 4x didn’t support LTE in my area but it still does everything a smartphone does minus pubg and other games
There are always people who complain about things…. nowadays it’s the West’s favourite whipping boy ….. China (e.g. Some paypal founder blamed Bitcoin on China! Seriously…..). Take it with a pinch of salt, there is ulterior motives at play.
Xiaomi provides cheap affordable phones with barely any margin, so there has to be compromises (e.g. adverts which are easily turned off or reduced). Some complain about MIUI, well… to most people, does it matter? The ones who complain are the “enthusiasts” and they are usually nit picking… this happens to all brands, even Samsung and Apple (go check out their forums).
To be honest, if you want the best… go get Apple/Samsung, but I bet you won’t be 100% satisfied and you’ll make excuses for it because you paid an absolute premium for it. No one likes to spent ridiculous amounts of money on something and be told that they didn’t get the “Best”. Its just human nature… for better or worse.
I have a Redmi Note 10 Pro and the in-app ads are annoying. But the phone is 100% stable. Had only minor issue with headphone jack, very rare issue with mobile data/wifi and airplane mode (a recurring problem on every phone I ever had and much rarer with this one).
No slowdowns, no shutdowns, no freezes, no error messages. Overall a very smooth experience with lots of self-maintenance features.
Overall feels like a flagship experience for about a quarter of a flagship price.
Yeah… No. It’s probably just you or your phone’s model was an exception. Mine’s almost unusable here.
I had a redmi 4 prime before and it was terrible. The recent poco f3 was extremely tempting for its specs to price ratio so I bought it as an upgrade for my sister but I was the one who set it up. I was pleasantly surprised by miui this time around. It was fluid and the bloatware and ads, I hid through adb. There are some bugs here and there which could be fixed by a software update but I see no immediate need to install a custom rom for the meantime. I think the processor plays a big part in the experience. Even oxygen os was laggy in oneplus’ n something models because of the processor.
Every company is like that, go outside
I’m Poco F1
Brainwashed af
> Then came Android 11, and it made things so bad, I had to rollback to Android 10
What problems did you face with the A11 update? I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and I have not run into any issues that would make me consider going back to A10.
Bugged notifications layout, I wasn’t able to reply from the Notifications because of all the button overlapping.
Then there was the issue of sharing images from gallery, when I kept auto delete screenshots on, sharing those screenshots to apps like Telegram never worked. Some people say this issue is specific to the Indian variant because the gallery app isn’t updated on this.
Also faced issues with vFlat not being able to import images from gallery. Again, this is also related to scoped storage. My guess is Xiaomi fucked up the scoped storage implementation on the A11 build. I’ll update once 12.5 arrives.
Oh, I agree with you on everything.
I usually tend to browse multiple Android related subs throughout the day but I usually avoid this sub mainly because it’s mostly users complaining about one thing or the other. It’s worth mentioning that I’m not trying to invalidate the experience of users here; all I’m saying is that it’s hard to browse this sub about news and upcoming features when there are so many posts about bugs and issues. The sheer amount of complaint posts make other posts almost inaccessible.
My previous phone was the [r/GalaxyA50](http://np.reddit.com/r/galaxya50) and that sub had a very pleasant experience overall. Sure, people complained about bugs and other issues but it was fairly easy to come across other things as well. I know it’s not fair to compare a specific device’s sub to a brand’s sub; I was expecting an experience of the former sub here and those expectations have led to disappointment.
Had a xiaomi before, went to oneplus for a year and happily back to xiaomi. A Mi10t pro, perfect for me and regular updates. Also already on Android 11. Love miui, it has everything and the kitchen sink.
I’ve found it buggy. E.g. LastPass doesn’t work properly with it, which is time-consuming and frustrating. And I can’t highlight text in Medium.
I love the hardware, and would happily buy a Xiaomi Android One device. I plan to stick with more pure versions of Android in future.
Custom ROMs is still the way to go
No, I’m saying: people can complain about MIUI, but it seems like it has become something you should do to be cool enough to hang out here. It’s poisonous, and it isn’t helping anyone.
I know of a few things with my Mi 11 that I would like to see fixed in a software update, like for instance the settings menu. But that doesn’t mean that the entire phone is buggy and useless with MIUI. The camera works well, the phone is snappy as fuck, it gets a little hot while gaming (so does most iPhones), and I would have to say that the Cleaner app (some would call this bloatware) is bloody awesome.
That occurs with all Android 11 phones I believe from reading. Samsung and pixels included. It’s an Android 11 thing not a xiaomi thing.
I also have a Samsung S10, running Android 11 and gestures work with Nova Launcher without problems. Xiaomi messed up. As they often do with their software.
This is to let potential customers know what it can mean to get into Xiaomi.
>The battery drain, I didn’t experience it, but maybe that’s because I was using it as a gaming phone. The battery is already a bit fatter and the phone’s back panel is coming loose (stays in its case all the time now).
it was one of the updates, but saying that i meant that the quality of updates is very inconsistent and even (theoretically) small security update might go wrong
>So what phone are you using now? If I may.
realme x2 pro
Fair enough. I don’t currently have a xiaomi with gestures. They’re all 3 button navigation. I have read reports of it not working with Samsung that uses gestures or pixels. The s10 has different gestures to pixel 5/4a5g and s21 though doesn’t it? It’s gestures are all at the bottom like my S8?
What happened with Nova and your xiaomi? We’ve run Nova on the older xiaomi phones but not on one with gestures before. I am looking at buying one again soon.
I guess I worded it wrong. It’s a conflict between current Android gestures and launchers. Something to do with the home screen and accessing open apps iirc.
Xiaomi already released the Mi 11 Lite which weighs 160g.
I have many gestures configured with samsung’s one hand operation. Swipe to left or right to go back, swipe diagonally down fur screenshot, swipe from left and hold for favorite apps and so on.
Gestues with nova launcher worked on my Xiaomi as well until Android 11. It is just an example that xiaomi software can’t be relied upon unfortunately. I will keep my Xiaomi and live with its disadvantages because the hardware is good for the price but unless they get their software game right I might not get another one.
Understandable. The phone has to work for you. I sold an s21 because it didn’t work for me. Using a mi 9t on occasion the software has come a long way since my redmi note 4. I found Android 11 generally quite buggy, or it certainly was on my pixel 5.
Hopefully xiaomi pull their finger out and fix the issue soon so you can enjoy your phone again.
Thanks man, happy to hear you had a better experience with them. I’m still a fan of Xiaomi’s Ultra phones.
Using a 9T with miui 12.0.4 without any big issue so far. You must have some weird apps ಥ╭╮ಥ
My wallpaper just keep changing for no reason but that’s ok for me.
MIUI is the best software on any phone out there. There are many small touches that others havent implemented yet. Youll notice those and come to appreciate them. Also if you are on global rom it might be a good idea to change ROM to [xioami.eu](https://xioami.eu) which gives an experience which is nearer to what xioami intended with MIUI.
I think I have the most typical apps. Telegram, Twitter, Relay for Reddit, WhatsApp, few Google apps and Alto’s Odyssey.
I had a succession of Sony Xperia phones (most recently Z5 Compact), and was very happy with them. Top end processor for the time in a small form factor with IP67 toughness. Sony provided good service – repairing the phone under warranty when I drowned it kayaking. However, they non longer sell into the NZ market – which may be indicative of how they are moving globally – so now I’m using a Xiaomi. It has been a good phone, particularly for the price. The dual SIM is particularly useful, and a feature I’d have trouble living without now. I’d more than likely still be using the Sony in parallel with the Xiaomi if it wasn’t for the dual SIM feature, meaning I don’t have to carry two phones. Without the IP67 weatherproofness, I do have to be much more careful with the Xiaomi phone. It’s also a bit bulkier, and looks to be more fragile should I drop it. Software is not quite as quick as the Sony – Xiaomi’s UI (and my choice to use gesture controls) are probably the cause.
I have a poco x3 nfc, it has not freezed, lagged, forced reboot, or anything, I have not had a single bad experience with it so far, before buying this phone I read that it would be full of ads and that the MIUI was awful and all that, yet the price seemed great for the specs it offered, so I went ahead and bought it from Amazon, and I have not seen an ad, and it has not worked in any way I did not wanted it to work so far.
I installed nova launcher and it looks great since the poco launcher is not to my liking.
The only thing I don’t like much about this phone is the “go back” gesture because it is not very convenient where it’s placed on the right side of the screen, because sometimes when browsing an app it takes me back in the system UI instead of going forward in the app I’m browsing.
Can’t wait for MIUI 12 to hopefully have more options for gestures.
And that’s it I have no other thing I would change from this phone I paid for, except maybe that I should have waited two months more to buy the poco x3 pro… If I had known it was coming.
I have a poco x3 which is i believe a midrange phone and I have not experienced a reboot, shutdown or any such bad experience with this phone.
This is my first Xiaomi phone though, but so far so good, I have no complains and if Xiaomi keeps updating this phone for a year I will definitely buy another Xiaomi next year.
You can turn off all system ads if you want to and it’s really simple it’s simply pressing a few button. Just go watch a YouTube tutorial on it.
They turn themselves back on. Ad settings get reset quite frequently
