I really like “naked” phones. I wonder why almost noone make them and you have to customize by yourself.

What sacrifices you’ve had to make? I replaced the back glass about a week ago. Wireless coil is normally black, also there is the NFC pad. And alot ok black cover around the cam 😀
Only the NFC, original plastic cover of the wireless coil and basically the past few days of my life :)) the original plastic around the camera is still intact because I made some custom brackets for the cables and front camera using some zip ties and a drill

Mi Explorer Edition phones and a few others but yeah. They are awesome.
I’ve been looking for a clear back glass for my S21 Ultra and can’t find one anywhere. Beats the pants off of a Tear Down skin hands down.
I liked the mi explorer version even more. They didn’t necessarily recreate how it really looks, but then again most phones would mostly be just plastic and a charging coil

Most people don’t like it now except for the nerdy ones. Remember we had the Gameboys with the translucent frame? It was awesome but didnt catch on.
I think one reason is the antenna takes up most of the back on a lot of phones so you don’t really get to see much. But honestly I wish a phone company would have the balls to release an atomic purple phone. I would buy it even if it was plastic

Frankly, I much prefer fake transparent back on Mi9 Explorer edition.

But really I unironically I think it because companies are against right to repair. They don’t want users to think phones are just tiny computers.
I replaced the display on my Nexus 5 and didn’t realize that I needed some kind of tape when I put it back together so I lived with a creaky phone for a few months.
But really I don’t look at the back of my phone that much since my Nexus 4 which had a gorgeous back but the back shattered falling like eight inches on the floor.
