15 ultra OIS rattle

  • 0
  • 0

I know phones with OIS will rattle when you shake them (and it disappears when camera on) but Xiaomi seems much worse than other brands.

I know it’s supposed to be like that and it isn’t broken but it’s sooo annoying!!

With my phone mounted in my car it rattles like crazy from just the engine vibration!

This paired with the wireless charging issues has pushed me to sell up and go back to Samsung. Yes, the camera is superb but too many hardware annoyances that are spoiling my enjoyment of the phone.

I’m guessing eBay will be my best bet and the dreaded Facebook…

Wish me luck 🙁

This is the tread I’ve been looking for.

The car mount rattle is one of the the biggest issues I have with the phone. I don’t have android auto in my car so I use Google maps when going somewhere unfamiliar. And I only listen to Spotify when in the car. So using the controls on the screen on the mount is no longer an option.
When driving i send voice notes to friends and this was fine when phones were on the mount as you can pin the mic open in WhatsApp and record your message, but only last week I was fined and got points on my licence because I was caught holding my phone in my hand while stopped at red light sending a voice note.
I can no longer use my car mount due to the relentless rattling from the camera. It’s crazy how loud it is.

I hear the rattle as I walk. And I walk 20km+ a couple of times a week.

When I’m on the phone and move only slightly there is this huge knock from the lens moving.

Every single time I pick it up there is just this unnecessary noise that happens.

It’s been driving me crazy from day one. I’ve the phone since launch, and this is my 3rd Xiaomi phone. But I think it’s forcing my hand to sell it as I can’t stick the noise.

Might go back to OnePlus. Has the 120w charging I greatly miss.

I do feel people don’t talk about this rattle enough and am shocked it wasn’t mentioned in the MANY reviews I watched in the lead up to buying the phone.

I have no issue with charging on a wireless pad on my Tesla. I have an aramid 600d case with magnets on the case. As for rattling ois, it also rattles on the s25U n

Yeah it would definitely reduce battery life, but I don’t know if it would be too much. Especially when the phone is on a wireless charger in a car. I thought that the image processing uses the most power on the cameras, but honestly idk maybe its also the OIS

The battery would be dead in no time 🙂 I’m assuming that’s why the cameras are so power hungry?

I don’t have the 15 Ulta so I can’t relate to this, but wouldn’t it be cool if someone would programm an app (or Xiaomi integrates it into the os) that activates the magnets in the camera when it notices extensive vibrations like in a car.

I can’t find a compatible magsafe style case with lens protection that works with an in car wireless charging pad…

The wireless charging coil is so close to the camera bump that any added bulk around that area (for camera lense protection) means that the wireless charging doesn’t work properly and heats the phone up.

As for the rattle, yes strangely it only happens in portrait mode, turn the phone to landscape and there’s no rattle…

Wireless charing issue? My phone also charges not at all chargers. Do you mean that?

The rattle from the lens stabilisation isnt a big deal for me. I think its so loud because the lenses are bigger in comparison to other phones. It occurs mostly when the phone is 90 degrees up. But yeah it feels like there have to be an other solution.
