I bought the poco x3 nfc. Had actually forgotten about the 120hz feature and I thought it was just a gimmick. Turned it on and I was blown away. There is no way of going back to 60hz.

That’s the thing, after going AMOLED you can’t go back.
I had a Galaxy S3, went to the Nexus 5 (LCD) and I sweared I wouldn’t make the same mistake again. Does the 144Hz make up for the loss of color and deep blacks?
I guess it depends on what you prioritize more.
me as a gamer, you thought what was a gimmick?
Same…no amoled means no always on display and there is no led notification either. I need something to alert me to notifications, otherwise be picking up phone every 10 seconds. Requires one or the other in my opinion.
Using 75Hz monitor I know what’s the feeling.
Like the poco launcher is just miui
Reddit on 60hz is not much different tho
True, even if you use a flagship that’s not 144hz it feels slow
a proper 120hz phone would be better poco x3 has a ghosting tianma 120hz
Thanks for the feedback! Was waiting for someone who made this exact upgrade (Mi 9T > Mi 10T) to provide some insight.
Nice
I think it depends on how sensitive you are to the stuttering. I wouldn’t drop the amoled without firstly testing the 120+hz lcds
In my opinion i didn’t found 144hz as special as it sounds
Just wondering if you have 2 different brand phones with 120/144hz features, would you notice it if one of it using only 60hz?
I also got the Poco X3 NFC last week and the 120hz is truly amazing. Mostly the touch response and transitions look extra crispy on this display, for example the Poweramp transitions look and feel great.
I must say that I never understood the “once you go 120/144hz you can never go back” before getting this phone and *while* I was using a 144hz monitor on the pc.
I felt that I could go back to a 60hz monitor after 2-3 days of getting used to, but on a high refresh rate phone display is a massive leap over 60hz and I can truly say that I will not go back to 60hz.
Also it is extra nice not even thinking lowering the refresh rate with such a battery and really fast charging.
Really great device all-around!
I don’t use the feature honestly. I don’t mind 60hz vs 90 or 120 or whatever else they have. 60hz is fine enough, plus more battery life. it is a treat to use, but I’m not to particularly impressed with it. like I said, it’s a treat to use, but not something I’d use daily. I use a OnePlus 8 Pro. I just saw this notification for some reason.
But which apps are supported for high refresh? Or is it just for swiping home screens and scrolling settings?
Yeah i also have the poco X3 for 2 days and its amazing
I’m missing the Amoled. Buy something else. This is not true 120hz either. It’s somewhere around 90 just like the horrible superslowmo feature in the camera.
My main concern is going from AMOLED to LCD.
Does the high frame rate make up for the loss of AMOLED? How’s the image quality of the LCD of the X3 or the Mi 10T/Pro compared to the Mi 9T/Pro?
I have a Redmi S2/Y2. Now, coming from a 2 year old budget phone and planning on a x3, I would probably not handle such a huge upgrade lol.
Ye it’s great but battery goes faster. 120 is great for reading fast or scrolling fast.
This is why I’m waiting for the Mi 11. That 120hz AMOLED sounds gorgeous.
I had the s3 and moved to the of G4 and it was the best choice for me. Smoked at the time sucked hard, it got so much burn in and the gimmick “pure black” wasn’t even true. And it wasn’t my display since I changed it like 4 times
Same. But 120Hz lcd is still cheaper than OLED.
I’ve not gotten to that moment yet. Still rocking a 60 HZ screen with Redmi 9
I have used apple 5 years and their LCD was great. Now i am using Amoled it’s the greatest screen i have ever looked at. But i don’t know about Xiaomi’s Lcd. Are these good enough to frop Amoled for it?
I just tried both, on my Mi 10T Pro …
Yeah you can I am doing it so far
Am I the only person that can’t notice the difference between 60Hz-120Hz? I have the Mi 9T pro (60Hz) and tried out a friend’s Mi 10T (144Hz) and I couldn’t find a difference. Maybe the problem is that I didn’t use it enough?
I have mi note 10 lite and my sister mi 10t lite and I can tell you 120hz is awesome and the quality of the lcd is really good but I still prefer curved amoled display. 60hz is not that bad especially with smooth animations.
A friend of mine have iPad Pro which has 120hz Lcd and it’s great. It’s really better than 60hz Oled.
I really want to test X3 but there aren’t any of them on my local tech shops. There aren’t any Mi 10T series either. So i really want to try xiaomi’s high refresh rate models.
Poco x4 will release next month most likely
I went for the AMOLED screen with 60 hz of my Poco F2 Pro instead of IPS 120 hz the X3 offered.
I came from an iphone 6s so the upgrade of hz wasn’t a big deal (and I really wanted to try an AMOLED screen) but I know myself very well that if I ever go to higher hz I’d never turn back, just like I feel now with the AMOLED screen.
Right now only leaks, but a few of them state out next month. I’ll be waiting..
Well the apple’s blacks were really good. I compared my old iPhone 7 with my Mi Note 10 Lite and my friend’s Redmi Note 8 Pro side by side and iPhone’s color accuracy was really close to the Mi Note 10 Lite. Redmi’s panel was really bad in the comparison.
So it’s up to panel quality. If panel is good it doesn’t bothers me. 120+ hz is beast.
I guess its all down to personal preference. I also used to have a Galaxy S3 before I switched to Oppo F1s. I didnt even notice any difference about the display type at all.
This was years ago though. If I had to compare latest devices with different type of displays now my opinion might change
Depends on the price range. If you are in mid range or budget then POCO X3’s display is actually quite good and very color accurate, legible under direct sunlight. I had a galaxy A51 and it was AMOLED but the screen wasn’t that bright and red looked more pinkish or orangish than usual. It was pretty good regardless but yeah. Pixel 4a on the other hand is superb. From what I have heard Mi 10T series got an amazing display even if it’s LCD..but you have to compare it to the phones at that price range.
honestly don’t care im good with 60hz 😂😂
im from mi a line too,j umped from the a2 lite to the x3 nfc. lawnchair launcher helps miui look like stock android
Oh thanks dude . I don’t mind the Poco launcher as I have used an iPhone too so changing system doesn’t matter much. But would try it since quite a few of my friends also use different launchers.
The only reason 24fps is watchable is motion blur. Without it it’s completely unwatchable.
The LCD screen is very good. Coming from an OLED screen I was afraid of that the quality may be disappointing but no its perfectly fine. Phones side by side the OLED display is obviously better (color and contrast) but the LCD one is doing great.
The 144hz feature is definitely making it up. Using my old phone (60hz) it’s looking laggy, couldn’t go back.
Yo just changed from mi A1 to x3 nfc. Quite pleased although pissed they axed the mi a line
Exactly.
Amoled is not automatically “better” its a different type of display. LCDs get brighter, are more color accurate. OLEDs have true black but will burn in (It is a fact that every OLED display will burn in at dome point. I got plenty of different Devices from OLED to POLED and it will happen and that is gor me a no go)
But that’s just my opinion 🙂
I’ve been playing Guardian Tales for some while now and it supports 120fps in poco x3. I haven’t tested much on other apps though
How w about lineage os
Yep. I turned it off simply because I didn’t want to get used to it. Battery life is pretty good these days, I don’t want to join my co-workers plugging in their iPhones just to get through the work day.
In other news, water is wet.
I have poco x3 nfc, dont see the point of 120hz with this specs, playing pubg aint any better, loved my mi 9’s amoled with 60 hz way more, this 120 is just a gimmick cpu aint that strong neither gpu
They almost look the same
I like the 120hz but not the battery drain, is it worth it?
It does make up for it but only if you dont care about backlighting and more punchy colors. If you want the absolute best looking screen then no it wont. 120hz lcd just gives a better feeling when gaming and scrolling
Wish my 10 Ultra had an option for 90 though
Ye I believe so, but when you play it on Snapdragon 855 difference is huge, I can see the difference in UI and scrolling but that aint anything that special, amoled for example has always on display. That thing is way more useful than 120hz gimmick. But by any means this phone is good bang for buck but used mi 9t pro or mi 9 is way better bang. Flagship is flagship still regreting this poco x3 purchase 😂
I came from a Xperia Z5, got it since it was released so I’m very happy with what I got! Very good phone cost/benefit.
Yeah, the same with Mi10T Pro. 144hz is just so much smoother than 60hz and I cannot go bck to that anymore.
I personally would prefer having 60 HZ and AMOLED screen instead of high frame rate with LCD screen.
Same. Battery life over 90/120/144 Hz. I’ve seen them all and they are incredible, but I’d use it for a monitor or a laptop screen. A smartphone needs to hold itself for more time, that’s my opinion. Perfectly glad with my Mi 9T.
I didn’t know I hadn’t enabled it. Just did, damn that’s smooth.
3 pro leaks are pretty solid, but there were rumors about 4x. I guess ur right i just checked.
I was on the same boat. Design grew on my eventually as soon as I got the X3. Now I like it, no as much as Redmi design but I used to dislike it. It has amazing specs and it’s an amazing phone.
I reduced 144 to 90Hz though, just to compensate the always on 5G. I do not see so much difference between 90 to 144. 90Hz is okay with me that only using for some sort of trading and COC only. Mi 10t user here and a first time user of android. But, still an iOS. 🤣
I recently bought a 144h monitor and could feel the difference. Waiting for k40 pro.
Same with me. But I still don’t mind 60 hz. Sure I will pick the 144 on my mi 10t any day of the week but using 60 isn’t total shit like I expected it to be.
Agreed, got it 2 days ago and it is really great
Stay with amoled I had mi9t pro and now i have mi10t. Iliked MI9t pro’s display better
You’ll love it, hands down.
Your flair is outdated now, right?
I bought a 120hz monotor for my pc recently. Now I hate the screen of my mi 9t 😂🙈
60Hz, 90Hz and 144Hz is really noticeable. Just by scrolling in the Settings gives a a fluid motion in 90Hz and 144Hz, but in 60Hz which is a default for phones, it’s like flickering. Like 25fps compared to 60fps.
is it possible to use default miui launcher in the poco x3?
im thinking about getting one but i really like the normal miui
You must be talking about the poco x3 pro aren’t yah?
Some times for fun I set the Hz to 60 on my 10T just to see how it looks and every time I ask my self “Did I seriously used to have a phone with a screen like this”
The only thing youre gonna notuce from switching to lcd is the blacks. I had an amoled screen before I bought the poco x3 nfc. But I got used to it very quickly.
You probably know this already but redmi note 10 was announced yesterday and will be available next month. Still no specs though
Guess people can’t take jokes eh?
