What is the phone on the left?
How hot battery gets during this loading is the question.
How many houses does it burn in that time?
Everything should happen in the charger itself
How many charging cycles at this rate will the battery withstand?
I thought Oneplus’s dash was already doing it
I like how we went from:
User replaceable batteries that made it possible to go from 0 percent to 100 in 10 seconds, and as well improve the longevity of your device since device lifespan didn’t equal battery lifespan.
To
Non user replaceable batteries that instead created a need to charge batteries faster which in turn decreases the overall lifespan.
But hey, gotta have those “premium” glass or metal unibodies.
Probably less than Samsung Note 7 did.
Oops, sorry, Samsung good, Xiaomi bad.
Not sided either way, it’s just 100W packed into a small device, that will have everyday use. That’s scary.
Wait this isnt r/android. Pardon I’m just tired of r/android too much people shilling on Samsung.
Well yea, tbh it’s fair to be skeptic on it. But it’s somewhat interesting too. I hope TechAltar could make a video on this just like the one he did on SuperVOOC.
So in case you are wondering, it says the Xiaomi is charging with the device being on and the oppo is charging with the device being off
If it can keep it cool, there should be practically no difference in longevity right?
You mean degradation? The battery itself is 4000mAh.
Techquicky have a good video on the matter, there are legitimate reasons for it (on top of the less legitimate ones).
You can still open a lot of smartphones and change the battery. It’s not nearly as easy as it was back in the day but it is still possible and i plan on doing exactly that when my Pocophone F1’s battery gets too weak.
What are the legitimate ones?
That’s even funnier. People buying phones in “premium” material (neither glass or metal is really premium, especially now when any budget phone can have it) to then cover them in big cases for better grip and protection.
Its still a lot more difficult and the vast majority of consumers don’t have the time, tools or know how.
F1 owner here too. Wonder how long batteries will be available, maybe I should stock up now.
How easy is F1 to change batteries on? Do you need tools?
I know most consumers are not going to open their phone by themselves but there are a bunch of phone repair stores in every city i’ve ever been to.
Xiaomi had released a video on their official youtubechannel about how to open the F1. Here it is: https://youtu.be/MRW3zN0Zgww (that video is one of the many reasons why i bought one early in September last year)
Going to a phone repair store is going to pile on the cost though. Then you’re looking at investing more money in an already old phone that already was a bargain when you got it. Other than the environmental aspect there is not much incentive left for me.
Thanks for the vid though!
Pretty cool.
True i replaced my Galaxy S7 with the Pocophone F1 not because the battery was weak but the performance was to low for my usage.
threefiddy
can it jumpstart a V8 in reverse charging mode?
>Either way, a grid to 18V/5A DC converter won’t be cheap and it certainly won’t be small. My laptop has a 150W (19.5V/7.7A) brick, so think of something on that scale.
There’s apparently some new tech out using gallium nitride chargers that makes them much smaller and more powerful than regular chargers, so I’m guessing Xiaomi is using this.
>Xiaomi’s 100w Charger Fills a 4,000mAh battery in 17 minutes
“bro… is that even legal?”
not sure how they plan on cooling 18v4a charging.
Aaaaannnd now it’s charged.
I fuckin love my poco!!
Probably not (4000mah battery replacements aren’t yet the the norm so still pretty pricey) and yes on the tools. I recommend these ones I have them and the bit’s are really good AND good price.
Zacro 25 pcs Precision… https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B079P3C7KQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I still don’t believe they’ll implement in on phones. Oppo R17 needs two separate batteries (which means xiaomi woild need 4) and the cost will be very high. Not to mention that the cable to transmit it needs to be even beefier than oppo one
It’s not possible to have better design, higher capacity, thinner phones without sacrificing removable battery
Lol this is gonna be useless for me as I charge my phone overnight.. All this is going to do is increase the cost of the phone, be a safety hazard and spoil my battery as it’s going to be plugged in for 8 hours 🙂
Got it. Needs to buy a fire extinguisher too just in case..
OnePlus’ fast charging is 20W fast charge on the regular phones and 30W warp charge on the OP6T McLaren edition.
Also, OnePlus isn’t allowed to brand their tech as “Dash charge” anymore as Amazon holds the trademark
Exactly and Xiaomi even uploaded a video to their offcial youtube channel to show you how to do it.
wouldn’t that “only” be 72W? I would say we are looking at 20v5a.
> It’s not possible to have better design,
Design is subjective. Good design can overcome obstacles and blow your mind. And we arguably haven’t seen good and innovative design when it comes to cellphones the last 5-10 years, with every phone having the same basic slab design. The fact that the prospect of folding screen phones had made people so excited is telling of how stale design been in the smartphone era. The dumb phone era had much better, bolder and interesting design with manufacturers not forced to stick with a boring but winning concept (like the modern smartphone slab is).
> higher capacity, thinner phones
Incorrect.
Arguably the first jaw droopingly thin phone was Samsung Galaxy S2. Under 10mm with removable battery. You could even buy an extra battery from Samsung that increased the capacity and had a different back (making it flat with the camera).
If you look at Samsung Galaxy S5 (last S phone with removable battery) and S6 (the first without removable battery, so they should be close when it comes to the battery tech, how dense they could be made back then), the difference isn’t big when you account for the difference in battery capacity and thickness of the phones.
That would be awesome.
Making repairing a product difficult on purpose is a dick move and should be punished by the customer via boycotting that company.
That is one of the many reasons i stay far away from the fruit company.
Do you know Louis Rossmann? If not check out his youtube channel. It’s crazy how far they go to make repairing their hardware as difficult as possible.
100w is theoretical max. watch the video, they logged 18v4a most of the time.
I’m about to use my Poco in 3 days, what ROM do you use? any mods? gcam?
Ah ok, i’m on mobile and could see the numbers.
The length of keeping your phone plugged in will not matter and is actually beneficial to your battery.
If your phone is 100% charged it will completely override the battery and run straight from the charger. This will reduce the wear on your battery and it gives it a little break
I know, but wtf is a phone gonna do with a 100 freaking Watts??
Poor battery 🙁
Phone no tablet yes.
Oh really? source please.
not to mwntion that you are just shitting yourself presuming shit when in favt redmi cheif lu has saaid it will be coming in redmi so cost won’t be very high you are on xiaomi subreddit ffs.
Source for what? I made a couple of points
Of Amazon holding the “Dash Charge” trademark, Didn’t hear about it.

Thanks!
Naw I found the miui from xiomi is really quite good I’ve like no problems and there’s not much bloatware compared to like other phones os
