Again no compact size phone
I honestly think the K30 Ultra is more exciting than the Mi 10 ultra… You get :
– Full screen display
– 120Hz oled
– Dual stereo speakers
– IR blaster (conflicting reports on headphone jack)
– Dimensity 1000+ which is just behind the SD865 (based on how great the Dimensity 820 is, should be more than enough performance)
– Quad camera setup. It appears to have 64MP 1.6μm Main, 13MP UltraWide, 5MP Telemacro , and 2mp depth.
With the 6/128 model starting at 290 USD. Insane.
If the Dimensity 1000 is good for the Huawei Mate 40 outside of China, I think it’ll do fine with the K30. I expect them to bring the camera setup of the “zoom” edition and at that price point… Just wow
Am I the only one that feels a bit let down by the Mi 10 ultra camera specs? :/
Thought they’d really beef up the wide angle and Omnivision… they are the cheapest lenses for a reason, maybe they have improved a lot lately without no one noticing but I’m still not sold on it…
Also, wasn’t it gonna have the 865+?
The K30 Ultra is insane. Great deal for those who can give up custom roms
UPDATE Here are the network bands:
5G: n1, n3, n41, n78 , n79
4G: B1,B2,B3,B4,B5,B7,B8,B34,B38,B40,B41
3G WCDMA: B1,B2,B4,B5,B8
Sadly this
And 210+ grams weight becoming the norm…
Starting 290 USD???
Only things missing for me is curved display.
Why do I get down voted when I said for ME.
Who outside of China will buy a new Huawei phone? Seems to me like a clear cost saving measure on a phone destined to fail.
OP7 Pro has it
No snapdragon, no buy. It’s really tempting tho
If price is right I don’t mind going through the hassle of installing GMS tbh. Actually considering the P40 pro once it reaches 600€ by the end of August so…
Does the K30 ultra support ufs 3.1? Because what i know is that dimensity 1000+ only support ufs 2.0. Its like having a high performance gaming laptop but with hdd if u know what i mean…
headphone, freakin, jack.
would the Mediatek chipset affect custom ROM support?
Mediatek dont like custom roms
I know, I hope it has one. I hear some sources say it does and some it doesn’t. Guess we will know more on the 14rh
wow k30 ultra looks like an incredible package
But since it’s Xiaomi, some dev may try to custom rom it.
Redmi Note 8 Pro have good custom rom support considering it’s using Mediatek chips.
its like a sata ssd vs pcie ssd. big difference in numbers, barely noticible in real world.
It has one, it’s on the link.
I do not know what it is with this support for a custom rom on Mediatek, but I know that MIUI Poland stopped supporting Redmi Note 8 pro due to the high probability of bricking during the installation of a new rom
Not available in my country.
Also not fan of oxygen and android stock however I can get used to it
Ah if what you mean custom MIUI then yea. Even MIUI EU also drops support too. Maybe it’s harder with custom MIUI? Anyway, Redmi Note 8 Pro now have custom firmware to prevent bricking thanks to the dev.
At first it’ll be hard to find one, but next year Mediatek will be in more devices (and hopefully more Xiaomi’s) and ROM development for Mediatek will start to be more popular! 🙂
According to the official Chinese store for the phone, it doesn’t have one.
https://m.mi.com/commodity/detail/12605
So one of these sources needs to be wrong.
Lack of curved display is a bonus lol
I was bout to buy mi note 10 lite but now…
Damn, XDA is wrong then.
Hard to justify that when the k30 ultra released at this price! Have to wait for global launch price though to be sure
never mediatek, sorry.
Not just XDA, literally Xiaomi’s own official English blog and forum posted that it has one.
I say this with every Xioami phone they make. No matter how amazing the specs of each phone they produce is on paper… the phones always come short when it comes to UI and optimization.
I’ve had a bunch of Xiaomi Phones and neither of them ever came close to competing One Plus, Iphone , or Samsung phones in terms of feeling and performance.
They just don’t feel smooth and always have some stutter in random apps here and there. Ruins the experience of having such high quality hardware on poorly optimized UI.
Well, they still have the best camera out of any smartphone, awesome performance and S++ tier battery life, beautiful screens and everything a flagship should have with honestly really decent software. I’m hotly debating switching to the Mate 30 Pro now that it can be had for $420 used here in Poland.
Everything besides stereo speakers sadly
5x optical zoom paired with 48MP and OIS is a first I think. Any 3rd party photos in the net already?
It’s actually good btw.

Friendly reminder, don’t use the average score, read the review and sample photos instead.
is K30 using the same body as the MI9T minus the jack?
What can you do with this custom firmware? I have that phone
That’s a shit mindset, look at what Exynos are planning next year, look at how insanely fast MediaTek has progressed in the last year, open your eyes.
It doesn’t matter when custom development for MTK chips are almost non-existent
That’s the only thing holding me back too, I really want to be able to use whatever rom I like.
Ill wait some months to see if it gets any stable custom rom, I really hope they release needed sources so devs can do something.
Switched from Xiaomi to Samsung, currently on s20u and i can attest to this.
I wouldn’t say “Not all that different.” The performance difference between the Mediatek G90T and the Dimensity 1000+ will be quite large (around 30-50% faster). If you play heavy games or emulation, it will be noticeable. The newer processor and screen should be a fair bit more efficient too.
You get a 120Hz OLED screen , which is quite a huge upgrade from a 60Hz IPS, not to mention far brighter. You get to go notchless. You get stereo speakers instead of a single speaker. The camera sensors are newer and should perform better.
You just lose the SD card slot and (most likely) the headphone jack. The strongest phone from Xiaomi that doesnt drop them is the 10X pro.
Trust me . I’m in the same boat with a Mi 9 Lite. Yeah for everyday use the upgrade wouldn’t be that huge, but it all comes down to if you feel the experience is worth the extra money.
I haven’t experienced any stutter on my Mi 9 at all.
Would’ve liked a comparison with the Mi 10 pro but it looks promising!
Meanwhile the Exynos in the S20..
Why can’t we use custom roms on it?
I like the size of the P40 pro, considered the Mate 40 pro because of the new fluid camera or whatever it’s called and the last of the Kirins, but it’s too big for me. I’ll wait for the official announcement of the Mate 40 and the P40 will go down in price, Mate 30 as well although don’t know how much. Plus there’s the risk that Google/Huawei will patch something and we won’t be able to install GMS, so it’s a tough decision.
No way do you have any informations to where is it gonna be available at
Is it worth the patience?
Bruh the k30 ultra is great but it can’t do fucking 4k60fps according to Gsm-arena, really putting me off of buying it, can’t believe it can’t do 4k60fps
No B20/26 for me then, ouch ☹️
Devil is in the details.
I guarantee, that if you take a One Plus 7 Pro and use it for a week, then switch back to your Mi 9, you will understand what i mean. It’s the little things that you will notice here and there.
mediatek soc, custom roms only support SD chips.
I really don’t know how they managed to hit that price. No matter what anyone say, they really shredded the competition.
I’m loving the k30 ultra pricing.
Flagship killer-killer at it’s finest.
And also worth pointing out:
Mi 10 ultra 23 mins for a full charge.
A FULL CHARGE.
When will the global version with band 20 be available?
I just can’t get behind the pop up camera. I’m sure that it’ll be fine for the year or two that I would have the phone for but that feature just makes me too nervous to consider that type of phone.
redmi k30 is china’s poco f2 right? So europe will get poco f2 ultra?
Dude, pop-ups are the perfect solution for an uninterrupted screen I think. There’s nothing to be nervous about – My K20 is still working as perfect as the day I got it 1 year ago. Granted I don’t use the camera that much.
Yet when I go to xda forum for the Note 8 pro I see many ROMs developed. Maybe the situation has changed?
Honestly man, I get it. Our phones are honestly fairly comparable (I give up some performance with the SD 710 Vs the G90T, in order to get an amoled screen). I figured custom ROM support would be better on the 9 Lite , but thanks to Google and safety net, the idea of custom ROMs is dead.
Considering what we have, waiting another year for something better (under display camera perhaps?) Is probably the smarter move.
Xiaomi/Redmi shoots out so many phones that the idea of selling and upgrading gets mighty tempting.
Yeah it’s even better bc u can tell if they are trying to spy you from the selfie camera
Wooooow I’m so fckn excited, 120W fast charging included int eh box for the mi10 Ultra????
Either way I’m not paying 700 for a phone anytime soon so I’m more pumped up for the k30ultra, does anyone know if you can trade a xiaomi phone for a gift card or something like you can do with Samsung?
It’s going to be available in China in August the 14th (k30U) and mi 10U I think the 16th
I heard the exynos versions of s20 had like 20% less battery life than snap dragon, is that also true for media tek?
That’s not really true, especially thanks to Project Treble.
But they’re generally not as good on MediaTek.
Lol even my K20 Pro can do that
It’s still pretty bad. Nowhere near the stability of Snapdragon. Plus RN8 Pro had bricking issues with custom ROMs.
I can definitely feel the difference between MIUI and Custom ROMs in terms of smoothness but in terms of speed there’s not much difference.
You can custom-ize it more
That camera modules on Mi10 Ultra is just too big. Anyone think it is ugly ?
Read it [here](https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8-pro/how-to/guide-redmi-note-8-pro-megathread-t4056527)
Ah i see. So… Its basically just like using a different launcher, except its a clean install rather than on top of MIUI?
Honestly for me the temptation is the opposite. They keep shooting out these new phones but rarely discontinue the old ones which keep getting cheaper. Like honestly if you just tally up each individual component the amount of shit you get for 200$ is pretty insane. For 1/10th of that you can barely find a functioning 720p webcam and they somehow put 4 massively superior cameras and a depth sensor with 4k/30fps and thats just one of the many things they packed into an even tinier form factor.
Personally, i will just be reveling in and enjoying the kind of world where i can get that much phone for that little money and spend it on something that actually matters, because splitting hairs on fractional gains from one model to the next does not.
I used to not trust MediaTek but since their Dimensity chips are getting better, I feel like the K30 Ultra sounds like a deal to me!
EDIT: Ok, it doesn’t have a headphone jack. I’ll pass.
Nope, the vanilla K30 was Poco X2 in India. The F2 Pro was the global K30 Pro (not Zoom). I have to predict that the K30 Ultra will be called the Poco X2 Pro globally (or F2 Ultra)
But will see when the K30 Ultra will be released globally…
I think it’s the SoC price difference, which is sad and amazing at the same time.
I wish there would be a Mi 9T Pro-sized phone again.
Maybe, but it might also stay as China-exclusive.
Does this include things like modded Gcam?
Oof, missing two ou the 3 4G bands in France.
Some gcam mods still work but most of them won’t
It most likely can. Wait for the reviews.
Had Redmi Note 8 Pro, custom community are no good.
What even is a custom ROM? Can you explain them to me?
OK thanks
Say you want to have a different OS in your Xiaomi device other than MIUI. You can flash a custom ROM to have a different experience. Like on my phone for example. I flashed Evolution X which is a modified version of the OS that Pixel uses.
I have Redmi Note 8 Pro too, idk I think it’s pretty good.
I know, not as robust as Xiaomi’s Qualcomm phones, but it’s better than at least other brands.
Qual-$$-comm
Where did you get the info for the bands?
The Chinese Xiaomi website under the official specs for the phone. I posted it in another comment if you are interested.
Bruh ima be at home for the next year, only band I need is wifi
You’re right, that’s so strange it supports more bands considering it’s a China only release
Common enough Chinese phones will have extra bands, Chinese people go on holiday to other countries.
I really suspect 99% of phone buyers don’t care about this.
DXOMark reviewed the Mi 10 Pro earlier, and found it excellent, but they rate the camera in the 10 Ultra higher. The 10 Ultra is currently the #1 smartphone camera they have reviewed.
https://www.dxomark.com/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-camera-review/
Oh I’m actually surprised at this. In China, MIUI is recognized as the best Android UI with no doubt. And the stock Android experience is just terrible. Maybe that’s because the Google service is not available here lol.
You can unlock the bootloader and use whatever ui you like anyway 🙂
在中国小米10周年的发布,基本上把5KRMB价位的安卓手机,爆锤了一顿,120W的快充,25分钟就可以手机充满电,是中国国内第二款120W的快充量产。
