So 9 Pro Max will be called 9 Pro? Can’t they hire someone to to manage product line branding? Its like Redmi 5 plus was Redmi note 5 or something like that
Waiting for amoled budget phone, dont want to risk it with touch lag again
I told Redmi Note 9 Pro Max
There definitely will be global Note 9 Pro. The only variant I see is indian 9 Pro Max
Where are the good old times when phonemaker threw out phones after 1-2 year? This is getting silly..Note 8 pro is just 6 months old ffs
Can confirm that….my mi9t pro’s touch lags time to time but my brothers note7 pro doesn’t
Yes, it’s independent of tech, oled or lcd.
You know you can pay with QR codes instead of NFC
I always wondered why people in America buy phones other than iPhone cuz you have deep infrastructure based on Apple’s devices. For example I live in Caucasus where most of the people can’t afford iPhones that’s why we buy Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, Meizu etc and buying an iPhone is pointless because neither Siri works nor we have contactless payment, we still use cash and in very few cases we can pay with QR. In case you would say iPhones cost too much, iPhone 7 costs 200$ and I think you can find cheaper on eBay or somewhere else.
By saying Siri doesn’t work I meant that it doesn’t support languages we speak in our country.
Each time a new Xiaomi device is announced, it piques my interest and I wonder if it will end up replacing my beloved Redmi Note 5 Pro. Then I see the dimensions…
**Dimensions**
**Redmi Note 5 Pro** \- 158.6 x 75.4 x 8.1 mm (6.24 x 2.97 x 0.32 in)
**Redmi Note 9S** \- 165.8 x 76.7 x 8.8 mm (6.53 x 3.02 x 0.35 in)
Our hands don’t get bigger each year, so why must phones get bigger with every release? Xiaomi releases phones constantly. By my count Xiaomi released THIRTY FIVE PHONES in 2019. In 2020 can one of those releases be under 5.5″? Please? Go ahead and release thirty four phablets, but just make one a medium sized phone. Just one.
Just get a Mi9T non pro. They can be found for cheap AF and they a really close to everything high end phones offers
Sadly they are not the only one..
Note 8 Pro is 5 months old, not 6
I’ve had both of these in the past and I honestly don’t know why everybody care about those. I’ve used once an IR blaster in my life because I had lost my remote, and the SD card slot is useless when the phone offers 128gb of storage
High definition = higher than 1080p ? Because nowadays 1080p doesn’t take a lot of space at all. Unless you store hundreds of episodes and movies I don’t see why you would need so much storage. And if you are downloading 1440p or higher on a 1080p screen i don’t know what to say
I know right!! My redmi note 5still so good even after 24 months. Pretty much only thing it’s missing is NFC. Why Xiaomi is making phone after phone in the redmi series without NFC which has been available since 2013 or 2014 is beyond my understanding.
And Note 9 Pro Max? The name still the same?
I mean last Star Wars in 1080p is 2.5GB in a decent x264 so unless you store 50 hours of movie on your phone I really don’t understand. I agree that having the ease of mind to download whatever you want without worrying about space is cool but to me 128gb is already doing that, 256 is way overkill
I miss the size of my old Redmi 4 prime – I sometimes pick it up and use it and it’s so nice
Parisian metro works with NFC. So it’s really nice to have it integrated with my phone. Fingers crossed we will see the pro max. I believe it has NFC.
How’s battery life? I’m between Mi 9 Lite and SE
Oh sorry that I made such a mistake. Even worse!
Oh great. How is it there with corona? How many are infected ?
Because their target markets don’t really use NFC.
My phone all has nfc, but I’ll be lucky to be able to use it once a year.
More often than not it ends up accidentally picking up the signal from the cards in my wallet
But the Chinese version doesn’t have nfc neither
Haha mediatek 12nm is better than snapdragon 8 nm lol
This! I have no idea how this phone flew under the radar for so many people. By any means I don’t have small hands (can grab size 7 basketball comfortably-ish), and 9 SE is max size I can hold well and reach to most places on the screen. Even though I had a larger phone before, 9 SE felt soo nice the first time I saw it in real life.
Even though I really like Xiaomi and had their phones for the last 5 years, I will go for another brand (s10e feels really nice) if there is nothing of similar size to upgrade in 2 years or so.
9 SE – not great, not terrible. I’m keeping MIUI 10 though, not sure how 11 would affect it.
I have small hands and everysingle goodish normal phone that I can afford is really big.
Im using the p9 lite and the size is just ideal for my hands, unfortunately I dont have any space left, gets low on batery pretty quickly and crashes a lot…
Really? I want that phone ahah, now im sad.
Excuses, lol
Yeah, but who watches 9GBs releases on a phone!
You can’t tell the difference from the 2-3 GB h265. And I’m freaking obsessed with video quality
So, basically the reverse of what transpired with the Redmi Note 7 series, in India.
India got a ‘regular’, Redmi Note 7 (packing 12+2MP OVA sensors), minus the 48MP Samsung ISOCEL GM1 sensor used in the China/Global variant, and a ‘Pro’ version, which packed a 48MP Sony 586 sensor.
Then, a few months later, seeing poor sales on the non-pro version, Xiaomi launched the Global version (the one with Samsung’s GM1 sensor) as the Note 7s.
Glad to see that they are at least not experimenting with cutting as many corners as they used to be able to (remember the Indian Redmi Note 5 ‘Pro’, with slightly worse rear cameras, than its Chinese namesake?), in India.
yeah really sucks that phones are bigger and bigger. And at least in xiaomi, the small ones are expensive (SE line)
So, whats the deal with not having the last model?
Did the redmi note 8 pro got slower by the release of the redmi note 9S?
The only con I can find, is how it affects the reselling value, but this has always been low for xiaomis
the redmi note 8T was not launched in the end?
> In Malaysia the price of the 4GB/64GB configuration is MYR799 (€165) and MYR899 (€190) for the 6GB/128GB. In Singapore, the handset will be selling for SGD 299 and SGD 349, respectively. In Thailand, it will cost THB 6,499 and THB 7,999 and AliExpress will be asking $249 and $279, while shipping around the globe.

I have the xiaomi mi9t. I don’t mind big phones, but even with the 6.4 inch screen, it feels no wider or taller than my Galaxy s8plus was. With the bezels shrinking tho, a phone that once would have been massive has a much smaller footprint now. I don’t disagree all the 7 inch phones are getting rediculous now

I have a mix 3 (128GB) and the only time i have needed more space are when taking videos traveling, and is easily solved by:
* an USB-C pendrive
* an USB-C msata portable harddrive
* an USB-C micro SD card reader
* or the normal version + an OTG cable
* Also a PC/notebook + FTP with mi share
Yeah, microSD would have been good, by i totally agree about not being NEEDED.
About the remote, in my case i only needed it once (for an AC at college), and you can get USB-C ir blasters for 5 usds in aliexpress. Now for people that usually use many devices with IR remotes, i would totally understand the need of it.
I am still not sure which phone to pick – Mi A3 or this. RN9S has nicer specs but A3 is a bit cheaper and has clean android.
Now we’re sad
Not global version of RN9P max?
>we have contactless payment
You do realize that Google Pay is a thing?
Thank god they don’t make phones slower. I just can’t see a point in this xiaomi’s politics.
Really excited to buy their next phone, The Xiaomi Note 10S Pro Prime Redmi Galaxy Mi Pocophone MIX 5T Alpha A1 Max Mixi MIUI 12 that’s compatible with the MiCloud, MiWifi, MiTV, MiBox, MiBand, and Mi Notebook Pro
Because Redmi make cheap phones, and if you want it cheap you need to use an available production line not custom production line. And now, big screen sizes is the norm.
Well, that’s what this leaker said on Weibo anyway https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/23/rumor-xiaomi-might-re-launch-the-mi-6-with-new-specs-and-some-design-changes/
You need to blame those people who asks for bigger battery every time there’s a compact phone released lol.
They have one, but it’s aimed at lower than entry level. Shame really.
I’m still using one, works fine for me and as you said, the size is just perfect.
And when the phone starts with an absolutely massive battery life, even after three years and estimated 900mAh of capacity missing, it still has 7 hour SOT and two day standby.
Might finally upgrade by Note 5 to this.
Probably you don’t live in competitive market. Redmi would prefer to release a phone every 2 years, it would be in their benefit.
They can’t because of cutthroat competition. Realme is offering even better hardware for same prices nowdays and Samsung completely revamped their offering and is competitive as well.
Releasing a phone in this budget range and not updating for a year would leave it completely outclassed. I mean Realme is offering 90hz screens in this price range, even Xiaomi can’t compete with that right now.
My exact same situation, it’s a sad realization but I’ll probably just have to adapt whenever my lovely whyred starts breaking down
> not great, not terrible.
So about 3.6 roentgen?
Oh, the wonderful whyred. What a great decision it was too buy this thing! I’m gonna cherish mine as long as I can too. I just tend to keep one eye on the next possible rock to jump to, just in case.
I feel like I got the 6 Pro not too long ago. Honestly it still works great, and I don’t see a reason to update so frequently.
The Redmi Go! A $65 phone 😉
Nope, competition or not, Xiaomi would release a new phone as fast as they can. The more phones people buy, the more profitable they are. If they released phones 2 years apart, they wouldn’t earn much in that time.
India actually got a better Note 7 too, the Note 7 Pro. It released with the crappy Note 7, but came with a much better Sony IMX 48 MP sensor, and a SD 675. Later on, to bridge the gap between better and worse, they released the “Global” RN 7 as the RN 7s 😉
Pick the Note 8 (Better than the A3) and flash a custom ROM like Pixel Experience. Clean and stable Android Q, and it takes just a few minutes apart from unlocking the bootloader. The Note 9s will take at least 6 months for stable custom ROMs, so you’ll be stuck with bloated, ad and tracking filled MIUI (So Xiaomi can actually make a profit!)
My mi a3 is 720p and amoled so battery life is insane. I dont care for fhd screen on phones… So battery life for me is a must, but i didnt saw any overcome the mi a3 in battery life
Thats what I wanma say!!
just keep those movie on your computer hard drive and transfer them when you need.
The value they offer is awesome, but as there’s no NFC I’m stick with my RN7 for undefinite time. Maybe I’ll even earn enough money for something more premium by that time, who knows (and if ongoing recession won’t ruin my plans!)
I recommend the galaxy s10 or galaxy s10e open box, samsung ui is imo the best ui, and it’s overall a great phone. recommend going to a store and comparing the 2 phone sizes if you have normal sized guy hands.
Those phone are still a little too expensive, lol. I like the Redmi Note series because it’s a budget series. I can also change the ui by unlocking the bootloader like I did with my Redmi Note 5.
open box you can get like 25% discount, but seems like installing samsung ui possible. I tried googling lightly before if it was possible but the answers were vague so I guess ur right.
Even with the discount, it would still be closer to the 5-600 range?
oh right its cad I was thinking you were in the US. on ebay also theres a 10% discount with the coupon code pickyourcard (in caps). how much is the redmi? and does it support Canadian frequencies? on kimovil.com it shows it supports about half to 3/4 of Canadian frequencies, varying by carrier.
Redmi is in the $200-250 range. It depends on the sales. For my carrier (public mobile), it’s compatible. But it’s not compatible with freedom and a few other carriers.
