Little rage about my experience with Xiaomi as a Smartphone Manufacturer.
I ordered the Xiaomi 14 and had the fogging Problem (after using the camera for a couple Minutes, you get condensation on the Inside of the camera lens.)
I read in the subreddit that this seems to be a common Problem unfortunately and ordered a replacement. Surprise: Same Problem!
What the heck Xiaomi, I told you the Problem and you are sending me a device with the same failure again?
Best Part: Guy on the Hotline told me, that this is know Problem, when using the Phone in the EU due to our climate. What?
…
I am actually so disappointed as this would have been my first xiaomi Smartphones…

Maybe try a 3rd time
You mean there is a Chance that they can fix it?
Maybe try a 4th time
You mean there is a Chance that they can fix it?
shit happens try pixel, I am sure there are no issues there, even released a new model recently.
Maybe try a 5th time
return it and get a oneplus 12 you won’t regret it
5th time’s the charm
I love pixels but they objectively had their fair amount of manufacturing problems in the past (AMOLED displays hue was one of the biggest)
Never had such problems with my
Mi note 10, mi 11, mi 11 ultra, xiaomi 13 pro or xiaomi 13 ultra
Maybe just try one of these. Why would you even try a model when they TELL you its a known problem with it? At this point i call: user error…
The biggest problem is always sitting infront of the device
Pixels are so trash 🤮 na fam. Could NEVER recommend these
I had camera fogging issue xmi phones are crap
I know, they are a shitshow. But as OP was so disappointed with Xiaomi, maybe he wants to try something less chinese.
That’s why I always tell people either live with it or return it, and don’t chase the magic batch that’s problem free.
You mean there is a Chance that they can fix it?
Pixel phones have so much problems when I used it. So much so that I abandoned the phone after 2 months and bought a Samsung galaxy. Samsung galaxy line is probably the most reliable to me. Although I’m using the Xiaomi 14 right now also and love it.
Xiaomi 14 is an amazing phone. Especially on CN rom. Never tried it on Global.
Pixels are fine most of the time, but their QA seems to be quite bad.
Curved screen though. Why do you think people are buying the 14?🥲
Maybe a 6th time?
Open sim card tray, run 1-2 hr benchmark, leave the phone without sim tray in dry space for 12 hr. Enjoy
You should try Samsung, Motorola, LG or Sony.
I’m sure you will have better experience.
Let us know when you get one.
But… aren’t pixels manufactured in China?
No idea… check the box when you get one!
I checked. Hope your suggestion doesn’t disappoint OP.
🗿
Ads in UI was a game changer – Xiaomi never again. The price doesn’t matter. They will __definitely__ put ads on UI of your shiny phone… later. You will pay full price and even more.
Difference is tho, thst i dont just recommend to 1-2 friends but zo a large customerbase that trusts me because my judgement on hardware/devices has been spot on for years now.
Make sure the simcard slot is facing up as hot air/evaporation wants to rise
haven’t had any in UI, and I’m pretty sure theres usually an option to turn those ads off? worst I’ve had is ads in the file manager, that.. I could just turn off
Did not want to take the risk. A Phone which comes with Problems from the factory might get New problems later again when I cant send it back that easily due to guarantee
Your choice)
Exact reason why I am getting a pixel 8 pro instead of the xiaomi 14, would have picked it – both are the same price where I live, but it seems that the fix might not be permanent and I am picking a phone for camera primarily
Look. As a Sony/Pixel fanboy, with 13 Xperias and 4 Nexus/Pixel phones I used in past 14 years, I’ve also had a 5 Xiaomi phones exactly. A1, A2, Mi 9T, Mi 10T and Poco X3 Pro (which now my wife uses).
The least amount of problems I’ve had with Xiaomi phones, especially when it comes to hardware or some manufacturing, bad QA issues. Every phone worked like a charm, and that Poco X3 Pro, even after 3 years is still rocking, working flawlessly.
Every manufacturer happen to have some issues here and there, be it hardware or software related. Although it’s unacceptable to have foggy lenses out of the box, it seems like a solvable problem, and not the worst you could have.
Still a really bad marketing.
Knowing the possible issues, I’m on the edge of getting a 14 Ultra as my next phone, over Pixel 9 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro. Minor issues and software imperfection don’t strive me away from getting it, compared to all the possible compromises I’ll need to deal with, with Pixel or iPhone.
As a current Pixel 7 owner, Pixels always feel like “not yet there” or a package with a lot of compromises, they’re trying to compensate for with AI and software.
iPhones are definition of compromise for every power user, and iOS limitations are really hard to overcome when you’re used to all the goodies of Android.
This problem is persistent with all smarthphone amnufactures with big camera lenses.
I had Huawei mate 20, xiaomi mi 11 ultra, oneplus open.
My friend with IPhone 13 pro max, and Samsung s21, 22, 23.
With the same issue.
Avoid humid and rapiod Change of temperature. For example dont shower with your Phone and dont expose it to open freezers in malls
Does CN rom have something that global doesn’t, or is something else?
They’re many.
Use. GCam.
yes the curved screen sucks but the advantages the phone has in terms of both software and hardware make it worth considering IMO
LG? 😀
No idea, I just mean its the one I’ve tested and it was clean. Even gpay was faster
Buddy, every brand has their line of manufacturing issues. It’s unfortunate, but when you manufacture phones like you’re printing paper it’s bound to happen.
If you want to write off Xiaomi or any other manufacturer because of this, then you’re welcome to but it’s silly.
As an example:
I bought a brand new Mi 11, it died after 10 months. When I looked into it, it turned out that the chipset (Snapdragon 888) was poorly designed which caused it to literally desolder itself from the motherboard.
You want to guess who is to blame for that? It’s actually SAMSUNG because they used their nodes for the manufacturing process.
I specifically stayed as far away as possible from Samsung and the brand still haunts me. The irony. Anyways, I didn’t huff and puff. I replaced the motherboard and I will sell it.
How about camera? Also it’s bigger than Xiaomi 14
Holy crap man how many phones do you go through in a year? 😅
If you want 4 yo hardware at flagship price lol
Most of these big companies policy, they don’t even read your issue, it’s under warranty or is really new, they just give you another but guess what, if the fault comes from design and not your unit alone, this won’t fix anything. Samsung is the same. Around the time S3 was their top dog, I got one. Exactly 1 week later I woke up to the initial Samsung logo on screen and wouldn’t go past that. I returned it and they gave me another (wasn’t easy either, assholes kept saying it was somehow my fault, even though it barely had any use). The replacement did the same. Apparently all had the same issue because all of them had the faulty 16Gb chip for internal memory. If some specific part was written, they would die or something, I don’t recall very well anymore. A good while later Samsung came up with an update that worked around the fault so at least they wouldn’t die anymore for that. From that point on, it wasn’t a problem anymore but it took them a while to admit/fix it. Actually, i still have that phone and it still works well. All it needed was a battery replacement (which is easy since it’s user removable). I use it daily as a mini amoled screen to provide shortcut buttons to my PC (apps, volume, etc) and show stats like temperatures, frequencies…
I think the Mi A2 was probably the best Android One phone ever made with the cleanest factory ROM. Mine still works fine even after 6 years.
I currently have a Pixel 8 and it’s so far my favorite right after the 6a. Both of those Pixels went through cold, humid and hot environments with the screen and camera lens completely fine without any issues.
I know Xiaomi for false advertising the capabilities of their devices or over-marketing them making some claims unbelievable.
100% agreed, you get bs hardware and have to purchase a freaking subscription to use the features xD
You still comparing a lamborghini to a normal car in terms of hardware
The old nexus phones were legendary, especially the one with a slight bend.
as I said, I haven’t had any ads in the actual UI and I’ve had two Xiaomi phones
I have only ever encountered them in some pre-installed “system” apps, like file manager..;
where there is an option to turn them off
🤨
100% agree same with my Poco X3 too still rocking hard 3.5 years later giving to my kid
Xioami started to make shit devices, sound volume bug which increase by self, never buy again chinese shit.
you can like the pixel coren but they are right, the processor falls behind other flagships of the same price and most of the featured AI wonders are only free for a year and then you need to pay 260euros a year for the 2tb drive that enables them again.
why do people get angry at brands when they fail a product. the gulag factory of chinese slaves spit millions of phones per second one of those is bound to have issues return it with warranty and come annoyed when they refuse. they have already changed your phone keep it up until you get a good one.
Moist on the lens is defective hardware?
lmao if you want a horrible buggy UI and annoying shutter sound and green filter buggy pictures sometimes
I had a Xiaomi 10T that used Snapdragon 865 (TSMC) and it also died after around 1.5 years. Sudden death when playing games. Probably the same issue.
I think it’s a Xiaomi problem. Considered writing off Xiaomi, but in the end couldn’t find a brand I liked better. So I bought another Xiaomi.
It’s not a Xiaomi problem, Xiaomi doesn’t make chipsets so I’m not sure what you mean.

I don’t get why everyone is telling me it’s shit after I agreed and explained why I suggested it.
I’m happy with my mate 60 pro+ as I was with my xiaomi 14 before it.
I prefer the camera on my Xiaomi 12 pro Vs the pixel 7 pro. I can take crisper dark shots with the 12pro, something I cannot achieve at all with the 7pro.
I’d still go with a high end car than a lamborghini with a major flaw that is ignored by the manufacturer.
My Mi 11 main camera focus module broken. 40USD ebay for replacement. Install myself. Work ok again. I think i broke original because attached to bicycle handlebars.
I was Xiaomi fan but now I think they are not making innovative products.
No, I mean you blamed Samsung for it, then TSMC is also to blame.
Maybe it has to do something with board design from Xiaomi? Or the way they solder the chipset onto the board?
Main reason I bought the Xiaomi 14 is the size. I came from OnePlus 7 Pro and found the 12 just too heavy and bulky. If the Pixel 9 had come out a few months ago I would have considered it but the 14 was the best compromise with size and hardware, at least compared to the base S24
Same problem with the Xiaomi 12T pro.. permanent haze on main cam.
Well, my first Android phone was Xperia X10 Mini Pro, back in 2010. There wasn’t any rule on how frequently I changed phones, but every half a year would be some estimate, sometimes even shorter period.
I believe I’ve had 13 Xperias, 2 Nexus, 2 Pixels, 5 Xiaomis, 3 iPhones, and few other phones, OnePlus, Blackberry, etc.
Like I sad I’m a Sony fan in general when it comes to tech, but their crazy mobile division prices strategy pushed me away from last few generations. I also do like stock Android, but Pixels most often feel like half-finished devices.
There comes Xiaomi, and I’m really tempted to get 14 or 14 Ultra this time.
Yeah mine goes blurry sometimes but then I just shake it a little bit. I think it was because I had it on my motorcycle handlebars. Did yours do the same thing? Mine just gets blurry but I can make it go back to normal if I shake it really fast.
Focus module is what exactly? It’s located in the lens housing? I’m guessing you’re talking about the optical image stabilisation or is it something else?
Yes, I blamed Samsung because Qualcomm used their nodes for the manufacturing process of the Snapdragon 888 chipset. And I’m not sure, but as far as I remember TSMC did not manufacture that particular chipset hence the issues.
No. What I mean is I had a Xiaomi 10T that likely had the same issue as yours. It died out of nowhere. But this time it’s using a Snapdragon 865, which is manufactured by TSMC, not Samsung
Oh, I see. Yeah, about that I’m not sure. I’ve never heard of issues like that with the 865, it’s a very good chipset so I doubt that it was a chipset issue unless of course you abused the phone and subjected it to high heat cycles.
The issue with the Snapdragon 888 is quite unique to my knowledge, typically chipsets don’t have those issues.
Crazy lol.
And yeah I’m a bit of a Xiaomi fanboy I will admit, so I’d say go for it. I’m about to sell my Mi 11 and grab the Xiaomi 13.
I still have my Mi 9T that’s running to this day with the original battery and I still get about 5.5 – 6 hours screen on time which is just insane to me.
Unfort a known problem but with evidently, a fix. The people who had the problem posted difference and it seems like it doesn’t affect photo quality. It at least something solvable, but def shouldn’t happen. And yet it happens to a lot of asian phones last year and prior.
Wasn’t 8 pro the phone that camera glass gets broken by just putting the phone on the table?
They are, I’ve just seen a post about pixel 9 that they placed the “made in China” text on the phone edge
Never heard of that happening to it. Also cases almost always protrude more than the lenses.
OnePlus 12 has foggy issues too, so what’s the point
It was because the glass used for the lens was too thin. Anyway if you get one, buy a camera glass protector, you don’t want to risk it
Using Xiaomi phones is a waste of both your money and time especially Xiaomi’s Poco brand. Xiaomi’s policy is to send such updates to its customers after the warranty period expires that their phone gets damaged and they are forced to buy a new phone
Damn, well thanks for letting me know, I’ll get a protector
Np!
I believe you’re talking about Nexus 6, not 5. Nexus 6 was made by Motorola back then, and it had a beautiful design with curved back and cool camera ring. Yes, the Nexus 6 was an awesome phone. Even though the camera sensor wasn’t the best back then, Google already started cooking the software and AI tricks with camera algorithms, and it was able to produce some really good images, especially the night ones for that time standards.
Mine fogged on the first day. Never happened again since. I live in UK in a very damp area.
What? I was about to buy the Xiaomi 14… Alright im gonna skip that
No I didn’t, you can search for Xiaomi 10T reballing issue, I read mine is pretty common too 😂
What you mean benchmark? I heard a solution of recording 4k for 2 hours. Is it the same?
I meant something to warm up the phone. Benchmark or some kind of stress test can quickly heat up to actively evaporate. 4k recording would be good too
O got the Xiaomi 13T Pro 16gb-1tb version, no problema here..
I had to go to Xiaomi 14 Ultra because of an screen dmg happened in my Xiaomi mi 10 5G in the corner of the edge . I got to know that xiaomi 13 utra and 14 ultra device users are facing the foggy issue in camera lenses. But somewhere I saw that it happens in especially Chinese V and EU V .
However , currently I am using the Xiaomi 14 ultra without any issue. In camera performance , it is now unique and it take extremely good photos that current Iphones , or any other device cannot even compete with, except for professional cameras. But the user who use xiaomi flagship devices must know how to tinker with the camera like how professional photographers tinker with theirs.
However i must say that I still prefer taking photos using mi 10 5G where there is strong light conditions (outside) especially when taking a photo of a perso who has a dark skin tone as the camera software tries to make his skin tone white .
Ne seri. Reklame se bukvalno gase u svakoj xiaomi aplikaciji odvojeno.
Oh okay, interesting. Didn’t know the 865 had that issue.
I had condensation in the lens of my Mi 11 Ultra. Drying it isn’t really enough because you still end up with marks where the water has dried up, ruining the camera.
I left mine in a tub of desiccant for a few days and it was completely dry but also useless as a camera.
Luckily, they gave me a refund and by that time the 12s Ultra had been released.
not everyone has the same priorities, I don’t play games on a phone and I am picking based on camera almost exclusively.
I’m 99% getting 14 Ultra. Thanks for detailed feedback. 🤘
N-e-v-e-r happened to me
It is the 4 axis OIS in main camera module. It can focus and stabilize the image. You replace the whole camera module. Search eBay that’s where i bought mine.
Ahhh, okay. That sounds like the issue on mine. It’s interesting because like I said I can make it focus just by shaking it so the camera still works. Thanks for the info.
In my case I am very disappointed with Xiaomi as my Xiaomi 12 Pro is slowly dying after just 2 years, embarrassing, embarrassing overheating for everything (gaming is now EXCLUDED) and the battery lasts a few miserable hours, a real crap, I have to charge it at least 2/3 times a day, and I do very common use, after 3 hours of screen it already dies, but in fact the worst problem is overheating for no fucking reason, a powerful CPU like the Snap 8 Gen 1 and it is LITERALLY UNUSABLE otherwise it throttles even on Minecraft Bedrock Edition (the C++ version is MUCH lighter compared to the Java Edition that could run on PojavLauncher, if I try that phone goes completely throttling and crazy), I am tired of the situation and will soon change device, for example right now I am writing and it is lagging because the message was too long on Google Translate, how disgusting!! Cringe situation
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/poll-mi-11-camera-focus-fix-possible.66376/
Don’t let experiences like that bother from a phone brand, nothing’s perfect 😉
It Will have the same problem till a time ends it. I have it on my 14 ultra, but about a month after it ends.
Sounds like there’s some process running in the background, stressing the processor and heating it up. You can navigate to Dev Options and set the background processes limit to None, to see if this fixes the problem.
Turned them off on my Poco x3 and mi 11 so you sir certainly are not a Xiaomi usee
I’ve had the Poco x3 for a long time now very satisfied and a mi 11. So yeah not a waste
Hey guys. It has been a rough period for me with this phone. The specs, form factor, flat screen, ok camera (not a photo/video guy) fast charger included and an ok.ish price (~730 euros) compelled me to buy it.
I currently have a Huawei mate 10 pro, bought august 2018. Exceptional phone for me! And I can’t stress this statement enough.
First one – European model, date of fabrication march 2024, 512gb with 12 gb ram – camera lens/housing foggy at 25⁰C room temperature and after 2 minutes of filming 8k. Tried 3D mark, filming and silica etc. Nothing. Returned it after 2 days. (Still waiting for the refund haha🤞🏻) The second one – same stuff, maybe the fog wasn’t forming droplets like in the first one but nevertheless FRUSTRATING!
I started the whole protocol as everyone is saying here filming, silica over night, etc – nothing.
Yesterday I did the following things:
charged the phone to 90%
baked the tiny silica gel spheres in the oven ( 90 minutes at ~ 130⁰ Celsius) and let them cool down
put the silica in a plastic food box that you can close with a lid that has a gasket
strated filming 4k 60fps for 10 minutes, 2 times in a row while the phone was in the silica with the sin tray removed and the box lid closed
after that I immediately I connected the sim tray opening to the vacuum cleaner ( which I partially sealed with tape and left only a small hole ) and by using my fingers to have an ok.ish seal and with max power I kept the phone there for about 5-7 minutes while it partially cooled down
then again 4k 60fps for 10 minutes × 2, in the silica with the lid closed, getting it hot
then again vacuuming for aprox 5-7 minutes while moving the position of my hands/fingers to get a proper.ish seal
then again filming then again vacuuming
and last time filming, getting it hot, switching off the phone and leaving it in the box with the lid on until tonight….
…. when after getting the phone out of the silica, quickly putting the sim tray back, switching it on and then filming 8k for 5 minutes in a.c. 16⁰C full blast 2 cm away from the phone….no more foggy lens.
Will it last? I don’t know. Hopefully yes and hopefully I’ve helped someone with my story. Take care.
Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 4 – all old phones have ads, with no option to turn off.
I have bud’s pro 3 but right side bud not working battery problem anyone tell me where I get the battery please
