I’m glad. I believe that they were the first company to offer phones that are actually worth their salt in the budget segment. Phones were improving here, but Xiaomi accelerated that process. It is a well deserved No. 1 position.
Now, if they could fix the bloat on MIUI….
I am happy for Xiaomi. They provide the best value for money on smartphones. I bought a cheap $150 Redmi S2 3 years ago with 4/64GB. Still going strong.
Samsung should learn a thing or two, they got way too greedy lately
Xiaomi’s products are so innovative and modern. I keep checking out their main website just to see their new cool products, which are all value for money. I prefer Xiaomi for for any tech i buy.
I believe they tried to copy the Apple model of pricing. Didn’t work out too well.
It’s because of xiaomi only take 5% revenue from each phone except it’s flagships
What’s their flagship revenue?
They started from last year taking more than 5% revenue in mi series phones. it is 5-10% I think. they didn’t reveale the exact of mi series phones redmi and poco is 5%
Whoop!
I think it’s about time
43% decrease in flagship phone sales so yep that def didn’t work out
That’s true, but they make most of their profits through services, and not through the selling of hardware. (Services which are connected to the bloat, so that’s more of a sacrifice that we’d need to make for a good budget phone ig)
Nooo
Xiaomi uses ads to cover up sales losses
Awesome. I went with Xiaomi after my old Samsung S6 Edge Galaxy+ started showing problems (stopped fast charging mainly). I could’ve fixed the problem and kept using the phone, but I decided it was time to upgrade.
Did some research into phones and came across Xiaomi. I found the Mi 9T Pro which seemed really cheap considering what was on offer. It was around £300. That was a decent price in my eyes. I didn’t want to fork out too much on a new phone.
I’ve had it for over a year now and it’s still doing great. I could see myself using this phone for several more years. I’m not a heavy user, so this phone does everything I need it to. Happy I did not regret going with a brand I wasn’t familiar with.
I can say the same for Mi 8 pro if it was still available I would recommend it to everyone searching for a good phone
Great Job and good for them.
Now if they could only focus on thier turd of a UI called MIUI.
I will use this link every time when someone will argue with me saying how bad Xiaomi is and what crap they are doing… lol
What do you suggest they should learn from them?
Yet their Stockprice is down… 🙁
Massively undervalued IMHO.
Problem with getting that and my phone now is that they don’t get updated anymore.
Would rather get the 2020/21 models.
Yeah but there is always costum rom
I agree. I switched to Xiaomi last year although I’d been a Samsung user for 7 or 8 years before that, and even longer in total. I was mostly disappointed that slowly, Samsung was becoming more like Apple in how they started removing features and trying to do various things like making their phones even less repairable than Apple’s to increase profits.
This isn’t the reason I had been using Samsung for all these years, and is exactly why I switched to Xiaomi.
Freaking awesome. Go Xiaomi. They make good products.
True
Is xiaomi available in the USA already?
technically bbk is the biggest.
Xiaomi just has to fix their horrible software to maintain that spot for a long time
If they released mi 11 ultra in Sweden before i did see the Xperia 1 iii i bought it. Tuesday 1 iii is released here and 11 ultra is only released some Promo phones so they Lost me
I was about to joke that they should release a million slightly different models with confusing names that don’t make any sense, but Samsung does that already so that’s not it – in the last three years both companies have the same number of models (134 vs 137) and while Xiaomi names them as and then tacks a random from the list of with no actual consistency, Samsung simply uses : M02, S10, A01, A20s, A51 5G, A7, M42 5G, F62.
Redmi 4 Prime. 160€, been in use for 4 years. The battery is basically half of the original capacity, so now it “only” lasts for the whole day instead of two and a half.
Oh no. Anyway.
yees . this is news . let’s goooooo xiaomi . i love this brand . just top notch technology . I’m super happy now . this is the best thing i have ever read this year
Xiaomi the new Huawei.
Samsung is downgrading their S line. If you compare the S20 and the S21 if I’m not mistaken, they removed some things and kept the same high pricing. That way you have to buy the “Pro” versions.
Congrats to Xiaomi. Loving my Mi11 Ultra!
Yuuup, bought my mi 10 5g a month ago arter 4-5 years of Huawei, couldnt be happier
They make great phones.
Unfortunately, not the software. 🙁
I’ve been completely disappointed in Xiaomi’s approach to Redmi updates… Every update from 12 has made the experience worst… Even forcing some downgrades that made the devices look worst… If the intention was to force people to upgrade it worked to make people wanna switch completely to another brand
S21 is special I would say. They are not downgrading it but removing some feature that we all know that at one point will be removed (microsd, jack etc).
It’s a bit different with charging etc… but S line is still their top line and it doesn’t look like this is going to change.
I felt really annoyed with my old Redmi 4 Prime. It didn’t get a single base OS update and launched on Marshmallow :/
At least custom roms works great on it when I boot it up from time to time
You can but Xiaomi refrigerators here in Thailand.
Yeh they are more like Apple in terms of revenue
Just bought a Note 10 Pro Max today. Man, the UI is really horrible. Other than that, it’s a solid phone. Looking forward to putting in a custom ROM after warranty expires.
Pricing, Samsung got way too comfortable being the #1 of the world and now that there is some good competition I hope this will wake them up and actually price their phones fairly.
It’s not just that, flagships just get so much worse every year that midrangers have caught up. A midrange phone now has all the features yet priced fairly.
Yeah. They dominate the midrange too. I got the Redmi Note 10 Pro after watching /reading their reviews.
Tell me about it, I got a TCL 20 for $0 down, and they offered a free TCL 55 inch Android tv.
Actually Xiaomi Cofounder Lin Bin is a American who worked For Google and Microsoft before
If only their software was consistent
I remember the time when Xiaomi didn’t make phones, and we flashed MIUI on our LG and Samsung devices because it was so good.. There were good times.
Please don’t fuck up Miui 13
I’ve been with Xiaomi since Redmi Note 4. Unfortunately, in the last couple of years, their OS turned into a buggy mess. I’m definitely going back to Samsung, their phones are a bit pricier, but for that u get much more stable and much more smoother software experience.
Xiaomi please, Fix Redmi k20 pros broken update. Simple games are lagging phone in total is lagging, battery started discharging faster and the gestures stopped working on other launchers. How is this an upgrade.. And how do I down grade… Sad I don’t enjoy a thing about the new update.
they make great software for china because people pay for their services instead of google services
Really? I have no clue on what the do on China.
Their Mi line is getting expensive. Their really good quality/price lines are Redmi and Poco.
Miui is really good on my RN8 Pro. I really dont understand the complaint. Maybe are from people that tried Miui 5 years ago? Nowadays it is really fast, and you can hide the bloatware and easily disable the ads.
Nope. I am using Miui 12.5.1 right now on my Redmi K20 Pro which has beefy specs. But, this latest update fucked the user experience. And, yes I tried factory reset. Nothing helped. It is the problem with the ROM. Let me list down some of the issues. And, this is not on a single phone. All my friends (personal and redditors) with this phone have problems in this latest update. I am using the Indian version and I have confirmed with people from Europe who uses the European version of MIUI as well as Chinese Version too. These problems are on all those versions.
\- The fullscreen gesture does not work.
\- The crappier RAM management has been more crappier.
\- The battery life is badly impacted and does not last as it used to.
\- The themes apps cannot apply/download fonts.
\- The animation when moving to home is laggy.
\- Blur notification is flickery.
\- Wifi does not auto connect to the strongest signal.
\- The old updater app is gone. So there is no direct way to revert back to the older version.
Oh, and as usual there are so so many smaller bugs that I don’t even need to mention. What I want to emphasis here is, give MIUI some time. They will mess up your phone too if they do not up their game in the software department. MIUI is not known for their frequent updates. In fact, I do not expect them to provide it too. I just want something usable. MIUI should just not provide updates if it ruins the user experience. At least, they should have provided a revert option
And yes, about the bloatware and the ads. I do not mind them at all. It is mandatory for MIUI to keep going. Also, I strongly believe their hardware is great, no doubts. But, with this crappy software, it totally ruins the experience.
I prefer having the top end specs, and a nice AMOLED screen Xiaomi is by far cheaper at this price point as well, hence why I got a F2 Pro.For $500 price I got what I would expect from a $700-1000 phone.
I’ve had a Nintendo switch since launch, and I absolutely love it, but it isn’t as convenient as a pocketable phone. It takes up lots of space in my already quite big bag, and it’s already much smaller than a steam deck.
As for the camera, I think Xiaomi should try to make them a little better. Sure, a half-decent DSLR can beat any phone out there, but it has the massive disadvantage of just being a MASSIVE inconvenience. It’s heavy, it’s big and it’s time consuming to get the shot right. The average Joe just wants a phone camera that can take a satisfactory (not a objectively great) picture in any environments without wasting their valuable time, which I feel Xiaomi phones severely lack. Not asking for iPhone 12 pro max quality,
I just don’t want my pictures to be blurry if my subject is moving even slightly, even in a well lit environment!!! (Etc, etc) I believe this can be fixed with just better camera software, it won’t increase the material cost of the phones and will mean that literally everyone who purchases their budget phones will not regret saving a buck and not getting 2x pricier Samsung or Apple flagship.
Also just as an FYI, I’m not trying to shit on your opinion, just saying why myself and other people might disagree 🙂
yep google services are banned in china so phone manufacturers have to make their own app store, cloud service, browsers and bunch of apps that’s why most of chines phones come with their own app store xiaomi makes most of their revenue from services ,ads and bloatwares
Because the only difference between flagship and flagship killer is camera, software and marketing for making camera better they have to do a lot of r&d
Well, I guess you and those other people have really bad luck. I have the RN8 Pro with 12.5.1.0 and the phone is just as good as it always have been, impressive for the price. My mother has my old RN7 with no problems at all (obviously it is not as fast as my 8 Pro, but it is good enough for ger), my father has a RN8 no problems, recently I even told a friend to buy the Poco X3 NFC, he bough it, no problems at all….
So, what is happening? Does all your friends have the Poco line, or high end processors?
If Xiaomi keeps up with the way they update phones then give it sometime and you will join our bad luck gang too.
And, yes Redmi K20 pro has a flagship processor, 8gb Ram and 256 storage. It is this MIUI update that messed things up.
Poco X3 was recently released, so Xiaomi will need at least a year or two to mess that phone up. LOL i.e if they don’t up their game.
Just a second, I read that redmi note 8 pro too had some issues.
Glad that you don’t have them. You’re lucky.

Literally, if Xiaomi had a face I’d slap it with this phone.
I’m not happy with my MIUI 12!
Every single new installed app needs to turn on the notifications badge, floating and show on lockscreen manually, so i hate spending time to find my important apps to turn these features on for them.
Also imagine a phone that is missing a search bar to search among applications, you have either switch to app drawer home view or use Google’s search bar.
These are really small issues but have big impact on my experience using the phone.
r/HUYAStock is gonna be happy
Well deserved place for a company that literally show you their testing area (at least parts of it) on YouTube.
Well, maybe it is really bad luck or maybe I have to say it, I bough my RN8 pro in june 2020, so it is no that old (I think it was on market since september 2019). When I bought it, the 9 Pro was already on the market.
Well, MIUI is still crap. Becoming number 1 does imply that the problems of ChiMi are over. They ought to fix the creepy MIUI if they mean business.
So happy with my mi11 moved from huawei (which i liked too)
Even with the bugs?
yeah .. it’s kinda weird when you can buy a Xiaomi phone for 1/3 of the price of a Samsung phone and get pretty much the same experience
I just picked up a Redmi T9. Best phone I ever had.
Before I found this I tried like 15 others including all the Moto g series. I am buying Xiaomi from now on.
