If they hadn’t made the Mi 11 Ultra exclusive to a single network in the UK, I might have gone with them, at least later on.
Really? Here in Portugal you can buy the Mi 11 Ultra in any retailer and use it with any carrier. Always seems like a waste of opportunity when phones are tied to carriers, even more so with an insane phone like this…
And mi 11 pro not avalable worldwide. Huge mistake
I’m from Canada and luckily someone imported an Mi 11 Ultra which I was able to trade for. It’s my first Xiaomi phone and I love it more than any Android phone ever.
It’s still a hassle to unlock the bootloader and unbrick a Snapdragon device…
Looks like someone wants to get huawei’ed
Did you brick your phone? I hardbricked my Poco F3 to a point of no return and had to replace it…
Theoretically, I should’ve still been able to recover the phone through Qualcomm’s Emergency Mode (QPST Qualcomm Product Support Tool), but that phone and my PC just weren’t able to communicate properly. I had spent a lot of time and tried many things.
I get why, the hardware is cheap!
I just wish their software wasn’t so heavily modified :/
I hope not. Trump is not president anymore, so i hope Biden won’t ban Xiaomi.
Mi is HUGE here in India.
Imagine if the US actually had free market and Xiaomi phones were present there.
I had this phone for only 5 days lol I haven’t, I bricked my Redmi 6 but it was easy since it’s a MediaTek and not a Snapdragon
Ok. If you’ll use Fastboot, be careful lol. Don’t blindly erase partitions like me.
But you said “unbrick a Snapdragon” specifically?
Yup, because you can’t use SPflash for a Snapdragon, at least from what I’ve heard
What does “SP” in the name stand for? lol
For Qualcomm devices there is “QPST”, it’s a program that allows you to flash a ROM, recreates necessary partitions etc. It connects to a device through the “Firehose”-protocol, it connects directly to the SOC which powers that Emergency protocol

That program is meant for Qualcomm Interns, Engineers.
You can also buy unlocked phones in the UK, including Xiaomi through their online store and other retailers.
Thanks to Xiaomi and before them Huawei I can afford a working decent phone for more than one year which was never the case after the ’08 crash. I’m not exactly a corporate defender, but if it wasn’t for the advancements of Chinese coops and companies a lot of us working people would be stuck with crap.

Got the mi10t lite around 5 months ago, best smartphone I’ve ever had.
It never stutters, lags or anything. Always smooth as oil.
The only thing I don’t really like is the camera, tbh. But I might just be using the settings wrong. Pictures just don’t look that great as they should.
Custom ROM is the only way to go. Meme UI is such a weak point and it’s like they just dgaf.
Wow, u/villacardo…superbot!
Dont tell the Americans
Xiaomi has taken over Apple yet nobody I talk to has ever heard of it. They really need to start marketing to the US and Canada
Or you could simply use giztop to get a Xiaomi device delivered to your house.
If only all of high end Mi phones varient were available globally it would top that number 1 spot
Yeah, Xiaomi has a huge parcel in the Indian and Chinese markets, which by themselves mean a lot of the worldwide share, but it still has a long way to go, it’s just now stating to get a tiny bit known in Europe and hasn’t even crossed to the US yet.
It’s still a fairly new company that is already huge and has a lot of room to grow, with time it has everything needed to end up overtaking Samsung too…
Redmi IS Mi.
He also didn’t reverse it. Maybe he listens to similar “experts”.
I know right? I bought my phone solely for the hardware and *huge* community support. A week after I bought it, I unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom ROM, and never looked back. MIUI is good, but just not good enough for my daily use since my email notifications are almost not working there.
RIP Huawei 😂😂
Xiaomi overtook Apple Q1 who currently have 14% and 1% growth. Xiaomi have 17% share and 87% growth. Samsung have 19% share and 15% growth. So it doesn’t take much speculation that Xiaomi should be top by end of year as long as they dont get Huawei’d
I mean I understand their concerns.
MIUI only looks good, but is pain in the ass to use. Even Xiaomi.eu has issues.. im starting to think android is cursed with stability
I’ve had a way better experience with custom ROMs. Currently using Pixel Experience Plus. ArrowOS is dope and I found EU rom good when I tried it. Meme UI is just really bad on top of android. Android can be nice and minimal and less issues. I really have no issues to complain about 😅
Mi is a shorthand of Xiaomi, also used as a lineup
I found custom ROMs in general to be a chore. I have to worry about updating them, re-read how to safely flash them, deal with bugs, report bugs whenever things break… its pure enthusiast thing… I wish Android could be more unified and stable
They”re pretty stable and with Pixel Experience Plus, I update OTA. The only thing is you may have to flash a newer twrp here and there which takes a minute. Literally no hassle tbh. And the benefits of stability outweigh the effort. Minimal bugs and unlike meme UI the maintainer fixers those bugs asap plus monthly updates, so yeah each to their own, but it’s no hassle for me. Way more enjoyable experience.
You can buy the Mi 11 Ultra and use it on any network in the UK.
https://spflashtool.com/
To flash something on a hard bricked (Xiaomi) Snapdragon you need an authorized account
And there’s no firehose for my phone
Just wish the Mi 11 Ultra was available here in Denmark. Instead i had to settle for the Mi 11
What do you mean by specific?
Of course absolutely shitty they don’t take time to fix it or even start again lol but thankfully custom rom made it a great deal for me still. Really just need basic computer knowledge and read up on it/watch tutorials. Not so complex, but yes it shouldn’t be necessary.
Edit: glad you found a device you’re happy with too
Haha it’s really hard to hard brick. Basically long as you don’t flash a rom meant for another device you can recover to stock rom at the worst!
Edit: least for Snapdragon devices I heard MediaTek is more screwy but I don’t know about that haha
I use a [Xiaomi.eu](https://Xiaomi.eu) Custom ROM but I don’t like it, because of MIUI. \^\^
I want to switch to one of the Vanilla Android ROMs, but I’m kinda hesitant because of potential bugs and few features missing.
What ROM are you using right now?
For me the following are important: Call Recording, MIUI Camera or something as good as it (needs to have 4K30FPS Support etc), needs to be Vanilla Android or very similar, Good Support + big userbase + frequent updates
For my Poco F3 there’s crDroid, ArrowOS, Pixel Experience, Pixel Expanded(?)… but I’ve no idea which one is the best for me. I’d ideally like to use the one that’s Vanilla Android and supported the most and has a big userbase.
I’m using Evolution X on my Redmi Note 7 right now. All runs well without any major problems.
For beginners I’d recommend Pixel Experience Plus since it’s pretty much a ROM made to resemble the Pixel phones. The normal version (just Pixel Experience) is good, but kinda barebones, so I recommend the Plus version for some customisation. Also, usually devices with Snapdragon processor have a Google Camera port available, but it’s a trial and error to find the best possible version.
For the call recording, though, iinm many custom ROMs don’t have that feature, but I may be mistaken since I’ve never used that feature before. It might be available for PE Plus, just ask around the XDA forums about it.
Thanks, I’ll backup my system + userdata, and check it out. I forgot which of the ROMs it was, but one ROM specifically mentioned Call Recording in their XDA Forum ROM description so thats cool.
To be honest, I think I’ll try all out. lol. I mean I can restore back to my Daily ROM anytime, right? 🙂
Yeah. Welcome to the stock Android club, mate XD
