Hi,
I have a short question. For me the photos in Ultra HD mode turn out less sharp than the regular photos. Since it is 4 times the resolution, it doesn’t make sense to me. I tested in regular daylight, ISO 50 and about 1/800s. So it shouldn’t be about Pixel binning, correct?
Thanks in advance!

I find the same, and oddly the same on the Google pixel too, and I suspect from videos also the Vivo….
….Oppo seem to have it right, but I do think it’s worth us all remembering these phones don’t use 12mp to save space, indeed the companies would make more selling cloud storage by increasing file size…. They use 12mp because they pixel bin and it creates the better image.

Pretty sure it is. The individual pixels are just so damn small on those sensors when you have 200 million on a 1/1.4″ CMOS that binning them actually ends up giving a better image since they can’t actually capture light properly alone.
I thought with the good light conditions it shouldn’t
UHD is taking whatever the sensor sees at full resolution; the larger the megapixel count the less surface area each pixel has – with less surface area you need lots of light
binning allows you to combine the pixels and create a more detailed image, which improves details throughout since you are literally taking data from “four” different pixels into one

Are you confused between “fake details” represented by oversharpening vs less sharpening and more natural details?
Do note, I find Xiaomi 15 to apply much less sharpening than other brands. One of the things that I prefer. Soft natural details > oversharpening.
if that’s true, sensor issue
Photos you have shot see them in your phone screen or another high resolution screen ? That could be reason shots are appearing less sharp. Pixel binning could also reason for this.
I don’t think it is because sharpening. I saw on phone screen and on PC screen. It is noticable when zooming in. I tested x3 and 200MP on X4.3
I will take photos for comparison
I think I need to correct myself. I am not sure what I messed up, but now everything is fine. Maybe it was a buggy preview. But after I took pictures outside before a few minutes and checked on PC, everything is fine. Maybe I messed something up. Sorry!
