Hey guys, it’s definitely more pronounced now that it’s approaching nearly a week since I’ve bought this phone. I feel like this noise is a LOT more pronounced than when I bought it brand new. It didn’t make this much noise so easily when I bought the phone 5 days ago. Thoughts?

Does it rattle when you open the camera app? If not or just a little, its normal
Sorry I was meant to put this in my original post. It does rattle a tiny bit. I think it’s the X4 lens because it’s reduced when I put it to X4 zoom.
I’m 100% aware that OIS rattle is normal…but today it just seems excessive. The frustrating thing is that I can’t really return this phone since I’m actually permanently moving overseas in a few days and the retail store here imports the phone 🤦🏾♂️
My phone sounds exactly the same as yours when I shake it, and that made me worry less about it, LOL.
The annoying thing is I actually had a shake of the phone as soon as I got it out of the box and I don’t remember it being THIS loud lol! Because my note 20 ultra does it so I was curious how the Xiaomi 15 ultra would be like and I just remember so well that it wasn’t this loud 😫
Does your phone even make noise when you simply flip it around like I showed in the video?
It is also an enormus sensor and lens wich might explain the louder noise.
It’s SIGNIFICANTLY louder lol. The Note 20 ultra seems to quiet now and I used to think that was loud.
What’s concerning is that it wasn’t this loud last week…
The sensor on the note 20 is MUCH smaller and, of course, would make much less noise when shakes around. The noise your phone is making is exactly the same as mine’s, and it seems normal for this phone.
Mine sounds exactly the same. There’s a lot of crazy cameras in that thing.
There’s quite a bit of lens in that thing. Honestly I expected a loud symphony of lenses rattling around in there. But it seems it’s quite toned down.
Yes, It does make noise when I simply flip it.
I thought that shaking the phone would make it harder to use?
Does it make a sound even when you simply turn the phone over?
isn’t this normal? rattle sound volume depends on which camera zoom you use(1x,3x,4x), rattle sound reduced a lot when I use the 4x zoom, maybe its the other camera lens that makes noise when you switch lens. Maybe I’m wrong, what your opinion?
Mine rattles even with very smooth movements. And its rattles in video ! And I have also 2 other issues : background noise in all video and small dust inside lens glass but Xiaomi doesn’t want to replace it because the box was deformed as delivery and i already get a replacement!
The first X15U lost the 5g connection after 7 days ! I’m tired of them…
Yes it does.
Case link?
There are so many people asking this already. Yes it is normal. If you photos or videos come out OK, nothing to be worried about.
Mine makes the same noise when I flip it the same way. Bigger camera modules and more optically stabilised lenses combined makes for quite the OIS rattle.
No need to return the phone, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Mine was too and when I opened the camera app it still remained especially when I record video this exact sound persist and loud on the recording AF. I returned it but they said there is no defect
I heard stories that some phones with that, while camera is working and rattle is still on ARE deemed defected.
This is so confusing AF
Doubt that in the video
The fact it rattles in video is what concerning me most, it just seems like a huge huge defect
It is just not cool, it should not be deemed normal, I mean how do you use video function of the phone if it is being interrupted and spoiled by those insane rattles?
Have you tried to record 4k 60 video ? Because i have a background noise in this mode.
Can you send couple videos in min mode and 1 other?
I mean videos taken from your phone. I want to see. Take a video while mildly shaking phone hotizonally then vertically. (From yourself and to yourself then from right to left)
Because if what you say is true some people have defected phones!
And you ? Please can you record a video in 4k 60 fps from your x15u without moving and check if you hear a background noise.

You haven’t understood the issue.
The “issue” isn’t an issue… That’s just how the phone is.
No, in video magnet are ON and no rattle ! In normal use, it can rattle but not during video recording! It’s my second X15U, the first doesn’t rattle at all ! So there is a defective batch!
The phone in the video is off. OIS rattle is always more prominent when the camera is not in use…
What exactly are you saying?
Yes but please look my video, the rattle is present during video recording!
Where is your video?

The way it works is that whichever camera is active, its OIS is also active therefore its rattle is reduced. In your video only one camera was active (main) but the 2 others optically stabilized ones were not (telephotos). This is why you still hear a rattle.
For example, if you record a video with the ultra wide lens and shame your phone, the rattle is much louder because the ultra wide is the only rear lens without OIS. and all the other lenses will be inactive therefore they will rattle.
I did exactly that and heard rattle, so your device is not defective. It’s just the way OIS works.
So it’s a bad thing. Doesn’t notice that on my x14u. But in my case, i have another issue : background noise when recording 60 fps video !?
Please can you try to record a 60 fps video with your phone ?
