Did anyone experience this issue. I woke up and grap my phone and it is so hot “red cpu” warning appears and my phone was turned off. Did anyone knew what could be the problem?
My mobile data and other stuff is turned off so I dont know why my phone overheats suddenly
We’re you sleeping with your phone in bed? If yes, it’s normal for it to overheat because you create a lot of heat, and the bed keeps it in there. The phone can’t cool itself down if the exterior environment is also hot.
Additional:
My phone is so hot after I woke up and its uncomfortable for me to hold it but the temps are back to normal now
Based on experience, it depends on factors like if you are using the factory USB and head charger… Not any other head is not the same compatible, check on the outlet you are connecting the unit if it is in good condition, as at home we have a voltage that suddenly can go up and connect my devices to a voltage regulator, avoid connecting the unit to power inverters if you have any, I try not to use it with/under water independent of if says that its resistant to it. These are my precautions…
Im using the original charger included and i dont charge my phone overnight
Yes. I put it under my pillow most of the time when I sleep and this is the first time this happens
With data on?
Off. I sometimes put it in airplane mode
Don’t put directly under the pillow seems like a bad idea.
Found the reason. Pillows do not conduct heat
The heat is trapped under your pillow.
Hot dreams?
Fun fact: older phones could catch on fire because of that, and technically, this one can too 🙂
I have tons of non xiaomi phones and have never had one of them overheat if I keep it on my bed on charge, but I also have a few xiaomi phones which have all had similar to OP’s issue. Is this an issue with only xiaomi phones?
That’s a very very unsafe thing to do
Maybe there was an app running in the background?
Phones cool over the display if you suffocate that by a pillow or some heat non conducting material ur asking for killing ur phone. No matrer if u have apps running or not
Heat can be created by many sources one of them being electrical flow.
No fucking wonder
I might be wrong here, but on Nothing phones that is a debugging screen. There is a 99% chance the main board is cooked. This maybe isn’t the same on Xiaomi, but i attached a picture of a Nothing phone showing this debug error

It happens to a lot of phones, including Xiaomi, never put them under your pillow
The only time I had my phone warn me of heat is when it was in direct sunlight in the middle of a scortching summer while it was sitting in my car on the phone holder, you must give off a loooot of heat for this to happen
Why all the down votes? I’m just making a point
I do this too, airplane mode, under or beside my pillow.
I did this for a year now.
OP was charging the phone? Now That’s a bad idea.
How long have you had the 14??
It happened to me also i putted my phone under my pillow n it got overheated to the point that i woke up bec of the heat.
Am I the only one who see the phone put on a panel oven
Perhaps the CCP is trying to assassinate you
Don’t let it sleep
that’s not normal at all
Well I charge my Xiaomi on top of my bed every time and it doesn’t overheat as well as other phones I’ve had, it’s just on top of the bed that shouldn’t overheat. The OP was talking about sleeping with it, the phone under the sheets or pillow, doesn’t matter the brand, will overheat because there’s no way to cool it down because the sheets and pillow keep the heat inside.
Also your comment looks like a flame to the Xiaomi brand just because you want to and is very unrealistic (disinformation), like you have “tons of non Xiaomi phones” and a few “Xiaomi phones” and you have them all charging on your bed? Because I only get a phone every ~4 years and in total I’ve had like 4 smartphones, if I’m gonna take that into comparison then I have 2 Samsungs that overheat and are really slow, they are only +10 years old, almost new, Samsung must have done something wrong, right? /s
Normal if it’s xiaomi phones. Don’t worry about it.
It’s possible that some app or process is stuck or doing something in the background. You can check what’s been draining the battery for a telltale sign.
I’d suggest backing up and hard reseting then monitor the phone for a while.
As much disdain as I have for Xiaomi, I hope that you’ll never have to deal with a phone that desolderes it’s own CPU due to heat and Xiaomi tells you “sorry, out of warranty hehe”
If nothing resolves it please visit a center and see if you can get it repaired under warranty
Was he charging?
Edit: further down he says he wasnt
More than a year. I bought it during the preorder
That is what I thought but looking at the comments, i think the problem is me putting my phone under the pillow which traps heat. I’ve been doing it for all of my phones but this is the first time this happened. Im using my phone right now and monitoring it but so far, hardware test shows no issues.
Im also planning on going to a service center to confirm if there is really no damage to hardware
Im using it right now… I think Im lucky that I can still use my phone but to be safe, im planning to go to a service center to check my phone to potential hardware issues
It seems like putting my phone under the pillows is really a bad idea. Ive been doing it all this time in all of my phones and this is the first time this happened to me. I guess im just lucky on my previous phones and this phone since im still using it right now typing this comment hahaha
Im planning have it checked in a service center since it is still under warranty (I bought it on march last year) to check the internal components for any potential issues
Thanks guys for pointing this out on me
Has nothing to do with xiaomi I have samsung s 22 ultra same thing once it’s under my bed or a hot environment
Sir is that a heater you’re putting your phone on?
What’s your theory on the source of this problem?
Pillow or not, that’s definitely not normal in my opinion. I had something similar happen once, but it was right after installing a beta update on my Xiaomi 13T Pro. The phone got really hot, but after a couple of days, it seemed to “learn” and adapt to the new data, and the issue disappeared. Still, even with the phone lying on a bed or pillow, that kind of overheating shouldn’t happen.

Will post it here for you
Why you’re putting it under pillow?
It’s bad both for you and your phone?
It radiates right next to your head which is bad, plus it’s bad for phone because it’s making it warmer,do u not know what keeps you warm?
Never put it under pillow, and use a case on it if you don’t.
Oh you use samsung too?
Mining virus
Is your nothing Phone working or not??
What did you do to resolve this issue
Not my phone, stole the info from a Reddit post
