I was really looking forward to buying a xiaomi 14T but my mother burst my bubbles by saying that xiaomi is banned in some countries in Europe and usa (i know usa has a restriction on it) but is this true? Id say no but i just need confirmation just incase
It’s not that it wont work. Cellular networks are pretty standards. Yes, they are not sold in some countries (like the US). So you might have a hard time when it comes to servicing and spare parts. But at least in the EU, they are pretty popular. I’d dare to say I see them even more frequently than Samsung…
So im alright with a slight exception for the USA?
In Europe most probably yes. They are one of most popular brands around here, and I’d be surprised if they are banned somewhere.
Depends on the country, but I mostly agree. In Ireland and UK (not EU, but still technically Europe) you won’t see them that often, but in mainland Europe, Xiaomi is quite popular.
You won’t have any problems using it in Europe and I doubt you will have them in the US
It’s not banned anywhere. It’s just that it’s not sold in some markets thanks to silly politics (looks at the US, and to an extent Canada).
I’m using the global version of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in Canada, and have no issues with carrier network connectivity. 5G(+), VoLTE, VoWiFi, and other features work fine. Should work fine in the US so long as the carrier does have a stupid whitelist (Verizon definitely does, and maybe AT&T). Best to scour the forums and check for the US.
Use an esim and that’s it
