why is this a video?
for some reason i cant post images in this subreddit
ah, that’s weird, but makes sense
Modern problems require modern solution
Yeah I hate that. Weird rule (rule 3: images should be included in a self post)
What’s a self post?

aren’t the first and last choices the same ? or is my english weak please explain.
Yes
Shit like this is why I swapped to a popular custom rom. The calculator has a damn privacy policy, that you can disagree to, and still use the app. What does that mean regarding your personal data? Who knows.
Maybe bad translation? Not sure honestly
Well that’s standard on Android 10
I think the first choice is for only this time, but the last choice is for every time the app is opened. But its quite unclear
In current state, they are the same. First one is the current standard writing for the “always while” settings in platform. Also, in other context, first one must use the word NOW to imply time as the second use it and the last one did with ALWAYS.
The last one is when the application is loaded in memory, but running in the background and not the current application being displayed.
The first one is only when the application is the active window.
actually, your idea is very believable. But the way they wrote it is really strange
No, the first is always, even when the app is closed (and running in the background).
The third is always, but ONLY when the app is open (can’t access location in the background)
He’s showing that there’s no option to deny the permission.
Fix: Why is this a video?
I think it depends on the app
which? lineage?
you don’t post an image – you post the link to an image… on imgur
Can you just press the back button?
no, it didn’t let me press back button… only home
Just checked mine and I have 4 options: deny, once, always, only in foreground
I went with the other one… Whatever had the most views on the mi 9t pro forum. Lineage might have been nicer, but this is alright.
Yes you are right. this is actually a native Android 10 feature which added two more options to permit an app to use certain hardware.
Allow only this time and Allow only when the app is in use.
This is brought to restrict background unauthorised access of hardware functionalities such the location, mic, camera etc.
wow, you have my same phone! I’ve thinking about switching for a fair amount of time, but never did it because of the triple camera setup…
could you please tell your experience? do they all work? do you have any bug?
1. As always, installing a custom OS is hazardous and I’m not responsible. I thought I broke my phone during this process, but it came back to life. I’ll point out what went wrong in the list.
2. [This guide](https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/index-guides-recoveries-roms-kernels-t3987417) has a lot of links and reading in general
2. You need to unlock your bootloader using xiaomi’s windows program, [see xiaomi’s website](https://en.miui.com/unlock/). This can take several days of waiting. If you get Chinese language, use google chrome to translate.
2. Go to the [XDA developers forum for the Mi 9T **PRO**](https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro), which is codenamed Raphael – make sure anything you download has the word Raphael in it. It’s AKA the K20.
2. Go to the custom development subforum, and browse by top viewed, or top replied, etc to choose amongst the most popular roms. Lineage OS, or Evolution X, etc.
3. Find the ROM’s instructions. They will be something along the lines outlined below:
4. Download Vendor firmware for your phone – [Evo-X rom links to this repository](https://downloads.akhilnarang.me/MIUI/raphael/) – check your model number on your phone and make sure you are downloading the correct version/region/model/etc
5. Download your selected ROM
6. Download TWRP recovery for your device. I used the one [on the XDA forum here](https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363), and there is additional information [here](https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimi9tpro.html)
8. Download [ADB and fastboot](https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790) to flash stuff
9. Double check you have downloaded the correct things – for the Mi 9T PRO, correct global/india/china region, for your version of each thing, etc, double check each forum post, backup your phone, etc.
9. Double check completion of step 11.
10. Copy the downloaded vendor FW and rom to the top level directory of your phone
10. Boot phone to download mode, and use the fastboot command line program to flash TWRP to your phone. Reboot and go straight to recovery mode. If the phone loads the OS, you need to reflash TWRP and try again.
11. In TWRP, “Wipe Data/Cache/System” – I think I also wiped system cache. Not sure if that was correct.
12. Flash the vendor firmware in TWRP
13. Flash the Rom in TWRP.
14. Reboot and hope your new custom Rom loads with no further issues.
15. – If it reboots to recovery (TWRP) and will not boot to the OS, check your files/folders in TWRP. Mine were all scrambled (encrypted).
16. To resolve this, I wiped system/data/cache again. Be careful when wiping these partitions – don’t wipe anything without reading what it is, and googling it’s ok to wipe it first. Some partitions keep important, device specific information.
17. Reboot back to OS. At this point, my phone was working, and this is the end of the guide.
TL:DR – XDA forums is your friend. Don’t do anything without checking what the outcome will be. Check all your downloads are correct – including md5 checksum if you want to do it properly. Good luck and godspeed.
As for my impression of evolution-x: It’s nicer than MIUI in most aspects. It has a mix of Pixel 4 XL and oneplus apps/features, and is mostly bloat free. I miss the MIUI recents screen, which included the ability to lock apps from clearing recents. I’d be interested in trying LineageOS at some point. Once you install TWRP, and are familiar with the process, installing new ROM’s is fairly straightforward. (e.g. Reboot to Recovery > install rom > reboot (optionally, recommendedly, wipe partitions).
There are a number of guides like this one (and that are probably better) on the xiamoi and mi9t subreddits.
