So I recently sold my iPhone 12 mini and bought a mi10t pro that costs 3/4 of that the iPhone and what a world of difference. The speed, typing experience, use and everything just seems so fluid. Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone does have its pros like the nice size and the incredible a14 bionic chip but everything else is just downright trash. I didn’t want to be bias coming from my experience with Android but I used be an iPhone user so I know both sides pretty well. But the last 2 weeks has been nothing but frustration.
1) battery. It’s so bad that I had to charge it every 4-5 hours or else I might be out of juice if I go through till the end of the day. Not a fan of charging phones overnight. Also depends on usage. I get an average 5-6 hours of screen on time but the battery depletion means I have to charger it overnight when I go to sleep so no no
2) charging speeds were abysmal. 18w max fast charging. And whenever I charge and use the iPhone, the phone becomes wonky. Like it struggles when I type something fast or tap into something cause it feels like there’s an input lag during the charge maybe for battery conservation. I don’t know.
3) ugly notch. It’s 2021 and iPhone still dishes out a damn notch. It’s so annoying to watch video content with that crap hanging by the side.
4) lack of touch id. Face id is fast but it’s so bloody annoying having to type my passcodes every single time when I’m wearing a mask. It gets even more annoying when you’re required to log into banking system and you have to pull down your mask every bloody time.
5) fucking camera lens flare. I swear, this was the icing on the cake that got me wanting to to sell it so bad. Not an avid photographer but I know do know photography since I used to own and play around with dslrs. For a $1000+ phone (price in my country), you get lens flare thats understandably found on cheap budget phone because they lack the lens coating. iPhone cheaping out again on materials. Try it. Shoot at a direct light source and you’ll see reflection or flares of the lights in the picture. Very very bad. And worse still… No fix for that other than taking the picture in a different way.
6) connectivity issue. Not sure if its just me but the 12 mini have been showing signs of bad connectivity. Constantly loses Bluetooth pairing and wifi connection for no apparent reason. I didn’t pay 1k for a phone that functions like that.
7) ios…. Too restrictive. Everything is pay pay pay. 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Not intuitive and the lack of customization when you’ve paid thousands of dollars only for you to be stuck at in an eco system that only continues to ask you to pay and use their services. There’s a lot that could be discussed in this but os is pretty subjective. That said, I just hate how restrictive it is given how I paid thousand dollars for it to only be used as it is and nothing more than how I want it.
8) price. Just ain’t worth paying that much a phone that you’d probably could get at half even 1/4 of the price for the same exact functions at the same speed. Ask yourself, are you paying thousands of dollars for a phone that is old in design, lacked the basic stuff that an Android phone has over an iphone, slow charging speeds, bad battery, rubbish camera lenses, no other unlock variations because it’s worth the PRICE or is it just for the brand and the exclusivity. I know most Android users don’t feel the exclusivity because we have phones that fit our budget, pocket and mind. iPhones just seems to fit into someone’s pocket and mind.
Iphones are shit i hope you like your new xiaomi. Although miui is garbage and poorly optimised, would recommend a custom rom
iPhones aren’t bad. iOS is lighting fast even on older devices, and security is really solid.
MIUI on the other hand is very buggy, and runs slow on lower end devices. Maybe that’ll change down the line, but I don’t think so.
I don’t know why people having problem with miui i have absolutely no problems
Good bot
I love iphones too especially the tiny 12 but for a thousand dollar? No way mi’s best phones are around 300-400$ below and could compete with the latest iphones, and not just that you could do alot of things without doing something like jailbreak 😂
I very much enjoy MIUI tbh, I like how watery and fluid it looks, kinda the reason why I got a Xiaomi, that and the Redmi Note 8 Pro is a beast compared to my old Galaxy S9 lol
True but they fit a very specific type of people, which most of us are not tbh.
But you do have a point!
Why the heck are you paying for the phone out right then? On AT&T you don’t have to pay for the phone with a contract out right. This goes for other carriers as well. That’s literally what everyone does lol.
I’d like to see any high end Xiaomi phone compete against an iphone 12 pro. It just isn’t going to happen. It’s currently the fastest smartphone you can buy. Xiaomi makes good phones for the price, but saying they perform just as well as high end iphones is absurd.
In my family almost everyone uses an iPhone except for me and a cousin. And all of them have this types of comments,
Battery life is bad
it doesn’t charge fast
not enough space the hole shebang.
And I always tell them Then why don’t you get an android? you have more options, and the response is usually, I don’t like android or it has too much stuff that I won’t use, and it still blows my mind that people still think IPhones are a good option, now I don’t say that they are bad phones but they are just not worth it.
Duh not everyone lives in america you dumb dumb. We mostly pay in cash here WE PAY UPFRONT.
And i said it COMPETES i didn’t say it was as good as the iphone you love so much.
Talk to me if you can still operate an iphone 4 or 5 without bugs like what you’re telling people.
Its wild too cause too much stuff you don’t use? people really telling me they don’t use fb and insta? since I know they’re usually guaranteed on a samsung phone at least. I disabled fb but still use insta, its not that deep.
I think given the price of also entering that sphere like having to buy airpods and then getting into itunes etc or whatever and only working with apple products exclusively means people don’t wanna pay the high price of getting out of it, even tho in the long run it will be cheaper.
He is talking about his iPhone
That must suck then. I feel sorry for you guys.
Of course… Say that to my 5 yo redmi 2 pro still running smoothly as if it’s new
Umm, I really like iPhones, but you’re just flat out wrong. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra was literally the best phone of 2020. Best camera, best chipset, etc. It was 700 dollars in China.
Welcome to the dark side
Ironically enough, i have note 8 pro and s9… S9 much more powerful than note 8 pro lol.
Not for me it isn’t.
I find the camera better tbh, the UI is better than the one on my old phone, I have more RAM, bigger battery that lasts longer, better selfie camera, more storage, bigger screen, smaller notch, and it overall looks prettier.
So in my opinion it is not worse than the S9, mind you I have been using and buying Samsungs phones since the S2, so I would consider myself a proper Samsung fan boy, I have Samsung TVs, Samsung Tablets, Samsung Fridge and phones.
The 8 Pro is refreshing and the UI is a bliss compared to OneUi of Samsung, the only thing missing is an AMOLED screen, but for an 160€ phone the screen is amazing imo.
Iphones encryption is leagues above even higher end Android phones can do, and that is a straight fact. That’s why a lot of businesss own them. Sure it’s not perfect, nothing ever is.
Me too, I just find the Note 8 Pro better for me.
The S9 i had was the 64gb 4gb RAM one
Compared to my new Note 8 Pro with 128gb and 6gb RAM, it’s an upgrade, my battery on the S9 would be dead at noon…
And my current one lasts me 2 days before I have to charge it again.
I guess worth mentioning is that I had the Exynos version of the S9 because it was bought in Munich, Germany, but still, compared to my new phone, it feels far inferior.
Also ironically, my S9 also exynos (Malaysia) and wasn’t good at multitasking and ram management, but in game performance and daily app usage quite good.
My note 8 pro have several issue starting with camera took seconds to launch (it’s bothers me somewhat). And Instagram crashing when i upload tons of pictures at the same time.
Now im currently using Mi10T amd it’s blistering fast with the SD865, 8GB of Ram.
P.S my Note 8 pro flashed with custom ROM and now it run a lil bit faster.
Well that’s amazing!!
Glad you like your new Mi10T!
I’m looking to get my hands on the Mi10 Ultra somehow, but not anytime soon lol
But the other comment is complaining about the miui issues. In overall all post in this sub reddit ar negative against the miui but I have 0 problems
Comparing iPhone 12 mini to mi10t pro. If you spent 5 minutes researching phones and your needs before spending 1000$ you would have saved us a very biased rant and yourself a bit of money.
Same here. I’ve been using MIUI for about 2 years. Never had an issue.
didn’t xiaomi also get added to that “list”?
Well yes but actually no
I went from the Samsung Note 20 Ultra a £1300 phone to the Xiaomi Mi10t Pro 3 weeks ago and I cannot believe a £450 phone absolutely embarrasses the Note phone in so many ways.
I was thinking of trying Xiaomi out for years but for whatever reason didn’t go for it well delighted I finally did as they are better than Samsung by a mile
I am now waiting on the Mi 11 being released in UK and in meantime I’ll rock my Mi10t Pro which is a fantastic phone
My worry was going from AMOLED to LCD but honestly there is no difference at all, every other spec on the Mi10t Pro is much much better than the Note especially the battery, I’d even argue the Mi10t Pro is better than all the new Samsungs, only the S21 Ultra comes close but why give money to a company who take away so many specs, charger,sd card slot etc they have basically become Apple
Xiaomi for the win
I think the only reason I’d get an iPhone, apart from the longevity (as newer models usually get around 5-6 years of updates), is the camera. I really wish I could get a good camera like that. It might not be the best, but is for sure better than my Redmi Note 8 Pro and its awful HDR and optimization on social apps. Really wish Instagram cared more about Android users.
I am just waiting for xiaomi to release a sub 6″ phone.
I hate this so bad. Iphone users be like android is only on chap phones.
I’m on a redmi note 7 , it’s a little less than 2 years old and i have had absolutely 0 problems until recently. The customization is bloody fantastic , animations are satisfying. But then the miui12 update came out and now the phone is just so slow , can’t even use whatsapp without it lagging out. Also many people complained about it too on reddit , so that is the main problem.
The reason they stick to the notch is because of all the necessary hardware required for FaceID. I’m sure Apple will ditch the notch once they have found a better technology replacement for it which works well.
Indeed
Different list, the one Xiaomi is in only blocks investments by US companies.
Another thing which annoys me about Samsung is how they treat everyone outside the US. They offer the Americans the S21 Ultra for £400, a £80 wireless charger for £1, Tab S7 for £100, they put Snapdragon processors in the US models as opposed to the crappy exynos and they still get the free ear buds and the other thing they offer (like cube tracking thing) . So basically all of this would cost someone in the UK around £2200 as we don’t get that deal but the Americans get all that for around £500 and all they do is trade in an old S9 or S10. Why are US customers so special? Why do they get everything? Its bs and I wont be back to Samsung for a longtime due to these issues
Exactly. They pushed a improperly optimised update package. Lags like hell. Tried everything including factory reset.
And my note 7 below 2 year old running like horse shit..
I don’t know what people do on their phone, it is not at all believable when they say their redmi series devices running smoothly as day one after many years. My note 7, my friend’s k20 etc are running like horse shit🤷🏻♂️. Miui 12 made the phone worse. Don’t say to flash custom rom, i bought my phone for ease of use, to escape from flashing roms and maintenance. Iphones even though lacks many features compared to android, even the oldest phone runs fine. My friend is using both iphone 6s and mi a3. He prefers iphone over a3 because of performance issue and hardware faults in a3. His a3 is basically dead. Battery life is the only thing better on a3. For a person like me who hold a phone for long and who just need a phone that works for media consumption, slight gaming, browsing and social media, iphone is more than enough. I know it’s costly but worthy for me than suffering lagging mess called miui. The amount of phones getting dead with updates are far more on Xiaomi than any other brand. Day before yesterday my friend’s note 6 pro died with miui 12 update and he needs to flash using edl method which requires opening his phone.
Do you know what’s worse than buying an iPhone nowadays? Buying a samsung phone for over $1000.
Buy small phone, get small battery.
Too much pointless features and bloatware.
Bloatware and ads were the primary reasons but other than that its good. MIUI has the best implementation of second space/secret folder on android.
Me too. I have the mi9 se, the last one of that size, and I love it. But I can see a successor to upgrade, so I will need to switch brand.
MIUI is also ok for me. Don’t understand why some people complain
Not miui but when I installed Android 10 in my Mi A2 it was a nightmare compared to the almost flawless Android Pie.
When the Android 10 update installed I opened my phone and it froze for like an hour literally devouring my remaining 50 something percent battery. The battery didn’t improve ( I give that one a pass since it’s a thin phone anyway). Browsing also was a total nightmare, it was so slow typing or scrolling through websites that I can run perfectly a year ago. And lastly the degrading storage, deleting apps or anything that is at least a couple hundred MB freezes the phone hard.
That’s why I got an iphone 8 for a secondary that I got for 200$ in my pocket. Battery is slightly worse (what a surprise) but the cpu plows through websites and games with only rare hick ups.
Only time I suggest buying an iphone is when you need a reliable secondary, I recommend getting a iphone 6s/7 above.
But slowing down over time is nothing new for my experience of phones. Like all my previous samsung galaxy s phones I hat the s3,s6,s8. All of them slowed down over time
Been using both Android and iPhone (work/personal) since 2013 and there’s just no way I would start using an android device as my primary phone. That being said, I also like having both ”worlds” available to me.
These are personal preferences and thus not debatable, but for me iPhones have always offered a better user experience. Even though they do need to be charged more often.
The thing is the performance is like new, everything was gangsta till that update installed on my phone. Horrible update execution is unfortunately a common theme for Mi A2 users.
So far I encountered these issues right after updating my phone:
– Phone bricked in it’s second update. (Good thing I can afford a factory reset at the time)
– Fingerprint scanner messing with the cpu clocks (fixed)
– Camera focus got messed up somewhere along the 2019 updates. (fixed)
– Overall a slow performance especially in browsers after that android 10 update.
I love both my iphone and my android. Each have areas where they excel.
Note’s stock cam, is better
So is it’s aparature
And If you see no difference between LCD and AMOLED then the rest of your Points become invalid due to that single statement (beeing false)
Edit: I own a Xiaomi phone atm
Have you heard of Gcam?
And the rest of my points are not invalid have you owned the Note 20 Ultra then the Mi 10t pro or are you just another think you know it all behind a keyboard saying others points are invalid as they don’t match your own?
A top notch LCD or low to medium AMOLED? There is no difference at all. on my 10t pro I have it on 144hz refresh rate all the time the Samsung can only do 120hz, the camera is potentially the only area Samsung can do better and the funny thing is the camera on the S20 Ultra is better than the Note 20 Ultras so go figure.
The processor is faster on the Mi10t Pro compared to the UK version of Note 20 Ultra, the battery is much better I can get nearly 2 days usage out of my Mi10t Pro on the Samsung it needed charged everyday
You’re either a really bad troll or a Samsung fan boy
Gotta tell you.. I had Redmi Note 5 Pro and iPhone 7 at the same time. Well, yeah, iPhone was fuild AF compared to Redmi, but that battery time was just absurd. Web browsing was fine for battery, but anything else just drained it almost instantly. Also, you want to have your videos 30p instead of 60p? Well, go to the settings, you can’t change it in-app. What the actual f.
TouchID and that force press something was awesome though.
And again, you speak of subjective arguements.
Note 20 ultra, that I had, was the best screen on the market I.e also best AMOLED not a mediocre AMOLED, also produced by Samsung for Samsung.
I mentioned, and I quote: better stock cam, and aparature. Did not mention Gcam. Gcam does wonders for every single Android phone out there.
The mere statement, twice, that a 450 LCD is better than a premium AMOLED screen, that actually is brighter than mi 10t pro’s makes me wonder about your objectiveness.
In the end, to make my viewclear, Yes the mi 10t pro is a great phone, and, since Samsung is still using exynos in every other region, every Sd phone is able to perform better.
Mi 10t ia a good phone, But so is the note 20 ultra, which also has a bit better build quality, and gets 3 years of updates. Xiaomi gets 2.
On the other hand, the mentioned 10t pro is almost two times cheaper, and dxomark says its camera is better in some parts.
So. Both are great phones, mi 10t pro for everyone, note 20 ultra has more of a nice phone than a main stream phone.
They both 5/5
Ps. I am a Xiaomi Mi 10t pro user.
tnx for this one…
Buying a smaller phone and then complained about how fast the phone battery drain. What do you expect?!
Well, must be for the upvotes and karma
Obviously.
I too had a redmi 4x. It was the perfect size.
Are you experiencing any problems with the camera?
?I get lens flare at every shot except when its cloudy.
I downloaded the latest version of the app Gcam it improves things dramatically
So you think that its the way the phone it is made? I totally regret buying it.
Nothing wrong with the way the phone is made at all, even on the most expensive Samsung or Google phones you can improve things with an app. I’ve had no issues whatsoever with the camera
mi 10tpro have also problems with flares. Cheapo lenses :/
Mine does and found some threads where folks are whining about that.
IMO, Mi10t Pro is consider the bang of the buck phone.
The only con which is using LCD over Amoled but but but the price fits.
Don’t get me wrong, the lcd on this device is pretty decent.
