16MP with pixel binning, but I wonder if the image processing is as good as on SD 730 with IMX 586.
I wonder what LTE bands it will feature. Is this considered a global release?
Edit: Also are we stuck with only 6GB of ram option? Why do they always gimp the global release of the Redmi Note phones to the lowest possible RAM amount?
RN5 and RN7 didn’t give global users the option for more ram like the Chinese releases.
Now I have mixed feelings about my mi a1…
How are Mediateks nowadays? This looks tempting, but i have bad memories of my last Mediatek phone, so i’m hesitating. Then again, it was a garbage brand phone, so that probably contributed to it’s “badness” way more than Mediatek chip inside it.
Me too. I would love it to have B3 and B4.
The camera is bad from the reviews I have seen, my guess is that the mediatek G90T is not as good as a snapdragon for processing photos. Also the video recording is not on par with even a redmi note 5 in terms of details, WB and stabilization. Such a disappointment
Still waiting for Global version of the Snapdragon Note 8 for ~160 EUR
Yeah, I’m gonna wait for reviews, but if this were true then it’s going to be another disappointing redmi note.
My friend had gotten one and the pictures I’ve seen from it were excellent 🤔
LTE FDD: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28
LTE TDD: B38/B40
WCDMA: B1/B2/B4/B5/B8
GSM: B2/B3/B5/B8

Xiaomi must have gotten a really good price from mediatek.
id get a mi 9T instead of meaditek tbh lol
still not good
Yea me too but xiaomi is pishing the pro version and there is close to none news about the vanilla note 8
I meant from Gearbest/Banggood with EU priority shipping, so it’s realistic.
I passed on the MediaTek because in all honesty it runs hot unless you only use your phone for calls and texts. Disappointing that Xiaomi ditched the SD 730 which is fantastic in both performance/power-consumption and staying relatively cool at the same time. Hopefully the Note 9 Pro gets a SD, I really tried getting used to the 8 Pro but after 2 hrs of gaming the screen got warm to the point that a few of my finger movements were no longer being recognized therefore deeming the phone useless for me.
I have the Note 7 Pro and love it, the 8 is a disappointment though..
paltry yam drab rude hat juggle late dinner chop lip ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
I got redmi note 7, and it’s a joke. The camera and the images quality are disgusting.
I still prefer redmi note 5 camera
Can’t find a camera comparison of note 8 or note 8 pro with previous versions at all.
Have you tried installing google camera on it?
I will skip this one. I don’t think it’s worth upgrading.
The bigger issue imo is that MediaTek devices don’t get very good custom recovery or ROM support
Thank you! Looks like it’ll work great in Canada 😀
How much in the regular RN8?
Why call it pro in the west then? just call it the 8 and still sell the 7 as the cheaper option (it still is basically the same as the 8)
Official Confirmation of PocoF2 from PocoIndia – [https://youtu.be/Jr\_jvwAacTs](https://youtu.be/Jr_jvwAacTs)
I tried , i have to say it did some improvement .
but the colors and the balance is just primitive .
I have redmi note 4 , 5 and 7
the worst is redmi note 7 , the best is note 4 from the camera POV
I’m pretty sure the battery life is quite good considering recent Mediatek SoCs.
Unfortunately, people are just repeating no GCam support, whereas GCam ports do exist for Mediatek SoCs.
Well, it seems that something is (was) absolutely wrong with your Note 7 camera. Redmi note 7 is in a league of its own when it comes to camera performance.
marketing and making the phones universally recognizable
The GPS used to be TERRIBLE of the Mediateks.
Yea I expect it to be at least +50€ than the cn price
you mean the built-in location randomizer? /s
Righto
Probably more than RN7 due to SD665.
Don’t have, it’s not so bad. I sold Mi A1 for RN7 and my impression of the new phone was underwhelming. It’s not twice better for for the twiced price. Maybe only camera is really worth it.
Post comparison.
SD 660/675?
Check out techtablets review on it
SD665 is slightly worse in terms of power than SD660 but has 11nm techprocess. Is used in RN7, Mi A3, Realme R5
Pretty weird that Xiaomi doesn’t use mediatek more often. Sad for the rom community
Mi A3 has 665, RN7 has 660 AIE
Yup, I’ll never buy anything with MT inside untill this changes
I won’t buy any device if I can’t tinker with it. Any brands that don’t allow bootloader unlocking are dead to me.
Yup, I’m in the same boat, I own devices which are 5+ years old which still get community updates and are behaving better than ever.
I’ll leave the locked down devices for not caring and uninformed
Hi
This is redmi note 7
and this is redmi note 4
compare the colors , in RN4 the colors are richer while on RN7 they are pale

lmao A friend had a Mediatek when Pokemon Go came out and we played all the time. He had to be like a block away from Pokestops for his dumb GPS to show as being on the Pokestop
Rn7 over exposes the images, they’re all blown out
Why are phones so fucking huge now?? Who needs a 6.5 inch phone??
You got that backwards. The 665 is more power efficient compared to 660.
Xiaomi isn’t following their 5% net profit business model any longer.
It lacks any support for 700Mhz bands used in N.A. so you will have coverage issues some spots in urban areas especially around and inside buildings and in rural areas which are only covered by 700Mhz bands.
Shit kernel sources fuck that
Preach
Why were phones so freaking small back then. Why needs a 4.5 inch phone??
All MTK devices have problems with their custom ROM community, because the company tends to keep the source code for themselves. No only superficial ROMs can be made, not LOS for example.
Because people that don’t like to tinker around with buggy and unstable software are ‘not caring’ and ‘uninformed’
smh
I was installing custom roms since the beginning but that doesn’t make you a rocket scientist **son**, you are just a nerd with free time.
Fake
I thought the Redmi Notes were discontinued by Xiaomi? Is this their last batch of Redmi Notes or?
>I’ll leave the locked down devices for not caring and uninformed
Those who don’t do unlocking are not “not caring and uninformed”. I did root and flashed rom on all my devices. Had free time during my school/college times. Now need a stable device and no much free time. You are just having more free time to tinker with it.
>the worst is redmi note 7 , the best is note 4 from the camera POV
Your note 7 has some problem for sure. Note 4 had the worst camera on that price range of device TBH. I changed my note 4 with lenovo k6 power that time because of camera. Although k6 power was absolute shit minus camera. Note 7 camera is far better than those note 4 and note 5.
Yes. Still it’s CPU is in fact 200mhz downclocked and it has 20% worse Adreno.
Real me 5 pro is better
>really tried getting used to the 8 Pro but after 2 hrs of gaming the screen got warm to the point that a few of my finger movements were no longer being recognized therefore deeming the phone useless for me.
You know , your review sounds exaggerated but put the phone in a case and screenprotector , use it in any country that regularly hits 30degrees celsius and you have a burning phone in your hands. The phone might be rather chill at 20degrees testing environment without case but it will be 15degrees hotter when in a case and in half the world half year long.
I guess reviews don’t bother testing this guaranteed scenario for almost everyone . If you’re not gaming , obviously you won’t have any issues.
EDIT: I think reviews should test at the very least with a thin TPU case for thermals.
We’re talking about buying LOCKED devices in the first place, no matter how much time you’ll have you won’t have say in what you can do with such device..
Say what you want but no one picks device with which you can do less, even if they don’t plan too, unless they have no other choice, are misinfomed or uninfomed.
…and your eggs hatch with the phone just existing
Ok. Thanks.
What do you suggest to solve this problem?
>Say what you want **but no one picks device with which you can do less**, even if they don’t plan too, unless they have no other choice, are misinfomed or uninfomed.
Most one pick device that works for them. People who unlock bootloader and do modding doesn’t constitute a percentage of android user. They are minority. So most people just buy a device that gets their tasks done. Most average joe doesn’t care whether it can unlock or not. Only those android enthusiasts care about unlocking. Most doesn’t even know what an unlock is. For most people unlocking means unlocking carrier and making it to use any sim. From your saying, unfortunately most people are misinformed or uninformed. A lot of people doesn’t even know what chipset their phone have and what it can do. What most people care is about camera, how the design feels, whether their social media apps works etc. They don’t think about unlock, rom, kernel etc which only considered by android enthusiasts/techies.
Iam still waiting for your reply.
I’m at lection and can’t answer now. Bit later.
You just reiterated what I said before, people don’t care or are uninformed, most of them.
I’m done here.
Nah bro, it’s official. Can’t you read? /s
You shouldn’t buy a locked device even if you don’t have free time now for tinkering. With a locked device you won’t be able to install custom ROMs once updates are stopped. Not to mention spying, ads, performance, etc.
I am not talking about mine. Talking about common users. The average people out there who buys phone. I bought note 7 because of ability to modify, even though i didn’t modify it. But no one cares. Xiaomi knows that a mediatek processor is not going to affect their sales. Because it can do everything fine for most users. People who care about custom roms/ rooting are not even a percentage of android users.
Guess that is something to watch out far.. as far as I’m concerned, once you get into rural areas just expect 3G anyways. My Whyred doesn’t have LTE 700mhz and I never notice a lack of LTE reception compared to any of my friends on the same network.
As long as you have Band 2,4 and 7 you should be covered in most scenarios
I am considering buying a note 7, or maybe note 8 if I wait for 1-2 more months. Wouldn’t you recommend it at any case? Because I used note 7 from a friend for a time, and I think the camera was not bad at all. Colors are a little problematic and the ai sometimes make your skin look awful, however google cam overcomes those problems, in my opinion. can’t afford an iphone rn, and can’t go over 300$
Live with it or buy a new phone
There are many factors that could curse the colors on RN7. Maybe it’s MIUI camera being shit. I don’t use it at all btw (I use RN7 myself) and I’m satisfied with camera. Or maybe there’s something wrong with your exact phone.
TechTablets literally did this exact test where he games, puts the phone in a case, and charges at the same time and then measures temperatures…
You talk like reviewers are out of touch with users and literally one of the most prominent reviews does the exact test you mention.
I forgot to add that it’s been very hot lately here and of course the phone should not present any issues in Winter but that’s not the point. Lot of Mi users including myself wanted Xiaomi to use the SD instead and of course to cut costs they opted for the MediaTek variant which is not bad but is nowhere near as efficient or powerfull.
Actually, you got the single one best youtube reviewer … **He’s the exception , not the norm,** literally , the only one that i know of.
He reviews the devices with common sense without trying to make his videos a “show”.
