notch confirmed

So RN5 with a notch and dual front camera ?
Perhaps i’ll upgrade if it got type c
Fake.
Please have a USB-C please have a USB-C
Care to post the source?
What SOC? Does it have usb c or Micro usb? Does it have a notch?
Might be a Snapdragon 660, 4/6GB of RAM, USB-C, notch and MIUI 10 out of the box
The Note 5 had a Micro USB
Is there a 3.5 mm headphone jack?
This needs an Android one edition and I’m all over it!
It’s SD 636
“Leaked”
If it gets USB-C, it will probably lose the 3.5mm jack. That’s how Xiaomi does things apparently.
redmi note 3 snapdragon was the last great redmi phone. that thing revolutionized the market. this is just the same thing all over again.
Poco f1 has both for what its worth.
I don’t mind that much i have to make the jump to wireless at some point
What? The Note 5 was the perfect upgrade to the Note 3, it was great too.
I hope it’s a teardrop notch at least
Then there is no point to replace the RMN5 then. With notch and type-C, it basically a downgrade version of A2 (6x in China) with just more battery.
I kinda believe more if they put 660 in it.
Agreed with this as a Mi fans since Mi3. The evolution of Redmi Note is as interesting as Mi lineup.
Jumping from crappy plastic (sry RN1&2 users) to aluminium in 3 and first to have dual camera with type C in Pro. 4 was the disappointment (I’m sure they drunk when they signed to buy the X20) until they changed it to SD625.
To see the jumping leap from their design for 3 generations, I think RN5 is the one of the best decision Xiaomi did in the past 1-2 years. (except for that ripoff iPhone X camera design)
That makes sense.
Holy fuck, pricing please
If this launched in the next two months, then RIP to all those who bought RN5P this month
The Note 5 doesn’t have USB-C, fwiw. The actual spec upgrade and decent cameras made it a true successor to the Note 3, who’s only real downfall was the shit camera.
Yup. But tbh, I don’t really care much about the Type-C things as I owned Mi4 before and still has many accessories (mostly the cable stuff) that are microUSB. With the compatible to QC3.0, I have no complain here.
Yeah, agreed with RN3 shitty camera, but I think most of the Mi phone after Mi4 era didn’t have that great picture processing system even though most of them have decent camera sensor (Sony and Samsung).
Sadly tho, notifications will be cut off
USB C on Chinese phone means no headphone jack™
It’s called Mi A2
What does the (typ) means? It’s not exactly 4000 mAh?
I don’t care about the notch but it better have type c port and an audio jack.
Mi A1 ? *facepalm*
Notch ain’t that bad, he’s a good guy .. oh wait you mean the phone’s notch ? eh, I don’t mind
Poco F1 being the exception, but it isn’t 100% Xiaomi
Is it only me why in a leak would we be seeing English specs
X Usually released in CN then everything would be in CN. It’s only when they go outside to India first do we get the ENG specs on the sticker.
Could be nothing. But would this not be a first , did they ever release a GLOBAL version before or at the same time as the CN model ?
Typical. Changes with temperature. 🙂
oh shit you’re right. i hope this isn’t true here, because that would be kinda fucked up.
But it is a redmi.SO we can keep hopes for 3.5mm port.
What the hell. I bought the rn5 this year
Typically? Usually 3900-4050mah
There was a Leak about RN 6 Pro Indian version .This can be it.
it has notch, no sd card,
Usb-c port with usb 2.0 speed is a gimmick only.
I think the same, a notch is make useful space, doesn’t matter if Apple starts the movement.
Poco F1?
Notch has caused a lot of controversy as well though 😛
I have 3 Xiaomi phones with USB-C and headphone jacks that prove that statement wrong…
I also prefer notch on my display devices like TV and computer monitor as well. They are beautiful.
/sarcasm
Xiaomi is pretty horrible at naming products. I love their products but the names are horrible.
6 now better than the 8 they just released? Is mi better than redmi? Or vice versa? Is mix better than max? Its so unclear.
I find the notch less esthetically pleasing, but I don’t mind it that much as long as you don’t lose function and it’s actually more space. But seems that’s not the case with Xiaomi. Phones with notch don’t show all notifications in the status bar? That’s a deal breaker for me.
The [leaked screen replacement photo](https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_6_front_panel_leak_notch-news-33174.php) (if accurate) doesn’t have a tear drop but relatively small notch with a small ear piece and two circles on either side, maybe that’s the dual selfie camera or sensor. I would probably rather have notification LED.
Redmi Note 4 with SD625 is not disappointing at all (from my RN4)
When’s it expected to be released?
Not like they didn’t do that in the past though. See redmi note 3 to note 4 to 5.
But that would suggest a launch in India before CN. Please also note that India seems to get versions and specs that are not repeated when they take the product Global. Example Redmi Note 5 pro. Only India at exactly the same spec both GLOBAL and CN versions had a compliantly different spec (but they produce in India so easy to have local variations)
19.9 notch but what is the cpu I think tjis’ll gonna be mtk since the ban is now lifted
Ah. Yup. I remember they shipped X20 first but with many things happened they shifted to 625 later.
My apologize.
Poco’s product manager(previously Xiaomi’s) mentioned in a comment that they actively researched about people’s opinion on notches in India(their 2nd biggest market?). According to him, most of them liked having notches and saw it as a positive. Enthusiasts might hate it but your average Raj from India likes it.
The situation isn’t the same. The price bracket that RN5 Pro is fighting right now (sub $250 but over $160) is in the most competitive time I have ever seen. They have to put something in the next gen (supposes to be RN6) to win and take that huge market shares from that bracket, and now they knew that the price cutting isn’t gonna help the sales in a long run.
If they upgrading just that, I bet you that others won’t be hold still especially Honor and Asus. Honor can put their sub-flagship Kirin into their Nova and, even though they don’t give the stable FPS like SD, take the cake. Or Asus can upgrade their Pro M1 by just put 660 in it and tweak the camera processing a little bit. This will kill both A2 and RN5 as I think no one gonna paid the extra more for A2 camera and Type-C.
Then there’s only two thing left to try, marketing and offline channels.
Xiaomi has kinda lead in both of them
Is there a release date yet?
Mi – flagship
Mix – flagship with emphasis on design
Redmi – Mid-range
Redmi Note – Mid-range bigger screen
Max – Mid-range huge screen
Then there are some variations of Mi where they add a X letter after the number and it’s sort of better Mid-range with MIUI and later on they take that model and put Android One instead. (Mi 5x=Mi A1, Mi 6X=Mi 2)
They used to make Mi Note phones but stopped for some reason.
You don’t know xiaomi
What I’m trying to say is they can prolong this game with RN5 Pro a little longer but at the end they have to put up their game. If they don’t put 660 in RN6 then others will.
No matter how great their advertising or offline channel sales gonna be, if others have a better things and within this price range, they’ll lose their customers (new or old) eventually. I’m talking from perspective of Mi fans here.
Why are these phones getting bigger and bigger 🙁
Or from anywhere. Heck I consider myself enthusiast yet I like the notch, just not the negative of not seeing the notification icons which could have easily been fixed by doubling the height of status bar and show notification below the notch.
That’s the Xiaomi current starstegy. They are now releasing new Redmi series phones every 6 months or so. You can’t make a big upgrade with just a 6 month window interval.
OP6 disagrees.
How is upgrading from 636 to 660 now consider as a big upgrade?
From the leak, I presume it still using the same body as RN5 but upgrading the spec.
Again, if they just put Type-C in, put up the notch, ditch the 3.5mm, using same camera as A2/6X and call it a day then they just throw away their chance to dominate that market share.
RN5 Pro pushed the upper limit of sub $250 smartphone. I don’t think they’ll miss this opportunity to push up more with just 660.
Seriously, I don’t understand what the fuss is about. Just disable the notch, what the hell.
Two are from 2016 and one is from 2017.
I too have the 5 plus. How do you like yours?
Disabled notch sucks with IPS panels. It’s not a true black.
>They used to make Mi Note phones but stopped for some reason.
Probably because phones got bigger and the Note series became redundant.
Snapdragon 710 may be a choice but it’ll interfere with their own Mi 8 SE
What about Mi 6X rebrand for global? There may be some people whose like to use MIUI instead of Android One
You will have to wait until 2019 since Apple and Huawei has just announced 7nm chip for less than a month, and Qualcomm even doesn’t announce their so-called 855
Yes, and the memory card slot is the only reason I’m holding onto my Mi A1.
Thinking of this one too but I think Mi won’t bother to do so as someone might port the Android One rom from A2 into the it as happened before with A1 & 5X which will eventually affect the sales of A2 (if they bring 6X at the same price as RN5 which is like $60 or $80 cheaper).
Since you have to wait 90 days to unlock the bootloader in order to install custom ROM, it’ll be hard for people to Port that

Meh, that sucks. No reason to upgrade from a OP3T, I guess
I misread.

I just hope the phone comes in an Android One version.
First need to see what chip is inside, is there a notch, sd card, 3.5mm jack…
I don’t hide the notch and I chose Mi8 over Mix 2s si that is subjective. It’s just fine. Not a big deal aside from notification issue. It will be sorted eventually. We’re just in transition period.
Mi Max 3 has a Usb-C and a headphone jack
I had a Note 4 MTK and the battery life is horrible lmao. Thank God I switched to the 5 Plus
It’s a design, simple as that.
If you are careful with the port, the phone will be obsolete before the port fails. When phones start to have **real** usb-c capabilities it will be much more useful.
Looking like a fake picture
Actually note 4 is much better than note 3 in the real world experience.
