Update has been made available today, and it bricks the device.
Cannot even reach bootloader, cannot connect it with PC.
If anyone has any idea what to do, please share.

I’m really starting to think that this company doesn’t know how to update phones, seriously their updates are a huge disaster (Bricked phones, battery problems, performance problems, bugs etc)
P. S. : Try putting your phone in rice it might fix your problem.
My phone is less than year old, I got official box it came in, receipt and manuals, charger.
Does warranty apply in cases such as this one?
It should fall under warranty if you didn’t root the phone
Pretty sure OP was being sarcastic about rice lol
> they knew it was cutting into their MiUi income from ads as people were choosing it over their own OS.
Well, bricking phones will sure as hell make sure those customers won’t buy Xiaomi phones again…
Yes, it applies warranty you can go to service center.
Can you make a video ?
i just updated the phone to android 11. Phone is bricked cant reach bootloader . usb wont talk to computer,Went to service center they checked and said board failed and will replace with new one as i m in warranty. Please go to service center they will change the board free of cost if you are in warranty. i lost all my data about 60gb, pictures with families, friends, vacations all beautiful memories. Mi ruined my newyear with a single update. Pay for this mi With MI 10. i always loved mi but this is making me sad.
it will . run to service center and drop your phone there. They will do the needful. #miruinednewyear #mia3
I was so happy with the mi A3 that I bought to my mother, that I wanted to buy one for myself too. Glad I didn’t. Never gonna buy a Xiaomi product ever again, next one will be an androidone from Nokia or a pixel from Google directly
I also hope it wasn’t intentional, but history shows that almost every Mi A series phone had some update that bricked the device.
I’m so confused. I though the android one devices was supposed to get updates from Google directly.
Manufacturer gets updates from Google, needs to adapt the update for their own devices. If manufacturer (Xiaomi) fucked the adaptation part by not testing or releasing update that is not yet ready, it is Xiaomi’s fault, not Google’s.
I never update as I see the notification, always wait for about a week before updating my OS. I already lost the count of how many times they pulled back some updates because of bugs or more serious issues. I do it bc I got lucky once though.
I have xiaomi phones since 2015 and I remember that the first miui update (which also was an update to android 6) to my RN3P Kate that I tried to install was made unavailable. Checked the mi forum later and the problem was similar to OP’s.
Only the A series is this shit lol
A series moment
TBH they should warranty this gabrage even if the warranty has passed, it’s their fault and nobody else.
I don’t have back-up phone, and it’s kinda useless making video of me trying to turn it on, entering bootloader or connecting to pc and failing. I will just send it to shop I bought it from and ask for refund.
mines not in warranty though are these scumbags charging for it
my fucking got my eyes bleed reading so much crap on r/Xiaomi
maybe! We need to wait for xiaomi to officially respond to this issue.we don’t know yet
While I’ll still remain with Xiaomi, I do recommend OnePlus! They have great phones with pure android on them (which I’m a fan of). Google Pixel phones are also good, but OnePlus phones are just better imo.
I have an A2 Lite, working perfectly, so nothing wrong with the A series.
I had to book a service appointment hope they fix it for free
Am I the only one here who updated phone 3 times and everything is OK? (Android 9 -> 10 -> 10.1 -> 11)
I don’t think they can, if they somehow fix a hardbrick, which I doubt they can or will hassle with, it would ask them to enter pin/my fingerprint.
Also, each important app like bank has its own pin number, so whoever sends their device for tech support is most likely more than fine in terms of privacy. Unless you got everything unlocked ofcourse.
Gonna check ’em! Thanks!
Chill, I’m not accusing anyone. I just don’t see the point with the android one project if OEM’s are still involved. The early testing material said the idea was for OEM’s to make a device that’s basically using the purest version of GSI and get a base rom from Google, then just put an overlay with their device specifics. That overlay could come together or later via OTA and couldn’t brick anything and even if b0rked the device still always gets the latest from Google and worked. Guess that was just a dream back in the day.
A series is dead. Google should sue Xiaomi for this. The meaning and the main objective of Android One program is in the mud because of Xiaomi. They had this issue with Android 10 as well.. It took them 3 attempts almost get it right. And now this.
I still havent got any update for mi 10
and if it is still covered by warranty
So far not a single user reported a device that had slight bit of recovery chance. All device that are updated are hard bricked, can’t boot to fastboot. If Xiaomi disabled QC firmware interface, then they are looking at whole lot of motherboards need fixing or replacing for free. So yeah, A/B thing is out of question.
Phone is less than a year old so in most countries it should.
You are absolutely right but not all companies are that fair
oh, i didn’t know that
Maybe not totally intentional but they try to have the least amount of work with the A line so this happened because a lack of testing
> Android One devices don’t get any QA or testing that MIUI devices get. They shit an update, if the device has 7/10 functions working they just let it be. After 8 months of constant reporting I can list atleast 4 bugs on my Mi A3 still.
That’s insane. I didn’t know that.
> Also what is this Android 10.1 you speak of?
There was MIUI update with Android point release.
I am wondering how Xiaomi’s software engineers or whoever is responsible in building and pushing updates is testing their packages before rolling out. Did they do a public beta test? Or closed beta test?
It seems that since they are no longer releasing AndroidOne phones, they are killing it intentionally.
I am a Xiaomi user for three years. They are too focused in beautifying MIUI and pushing Stable builds with bugs. Thats why I decided to not to update to any first stable builds cause I know it is still a fucked up rushed build. Their Feedback app is useless in reporting issues. And its the same with those with AOSP.
I think they wanna clear the A lineup
Moto one fusion and the OnePlus Nord that another user suggested me, look both like great phones, but they’re kinda too big for me. I have a thing for stock android because I like how ui looks (I know, shallow, but I look at a phone costantly during the day, it has to look nice to me), but more important they are too big. Anything above 5,8/6 is just uncomfortable for me. The pixel 4a seems to be the smaller available
Oof
same here, my MI A3 got bricked, F\*ck XIAOMI
Same here after installing to 11 bricked😡😡😡😡
>i lost all my data about 60gb, pictures with families, friends, vacations all beautiful memories.
It’s Xiaomi’s fault for bricking your phone, but it’s your own fault for not keeping backups.
limited bandwidth
same here in Bosnia phone did update and now it is brick is there any solution
Vjerojatno ce ti tražiti i original ambalažu.
Sretno.
Apparently it’s bricking a ton of a3 devices. So hopefully they will come with a solution very soon.
Just sucks that you are without a working phone right now.
My Mi A3 is as dead as hell as well.
Xiaomi phones are well build in terms of hardware, but software (and updates obviously) are really crap. Never seen a software update with 0% success rate and totally ruin the device?!
I’ll switch to pixel or custom roms with official support. My experience is these can guarantee proper updates.
my mi a3 handset have getting android 11 update yesterday early morning. download and istallation completed. restarting command is applied, but my device is not on now this time.if anyone have any idea.please help me
Vidio sam i ja danas, ali mislim da to ni servisi kod nas nemaju, tj da ne rade EDL boot ako je bootloader zaključan, a ovo je malo žešći postupak;
“Short test points, flash new ROM (12.0.3.0) through EDL.
Sadly, the average user likely can’t do it, but still pretty good news bc we all thought the phones were dead without recovery possibility.”

Got my Mia3 from service center . It’s running Android 11 . They didn’t charge me. Data is lost 😭.
How long did the service process take?
I’ve yet to send mine across the country as package… and it’s been almost a week already since it happened..
Hardly 20 mins
Noob here. Updated to Android 11 last week. Since then the phone goes into automatic restart loop when not in WiFi. Works perfect fine when on wifi. What to do?
My smartphone also didn’t turn on after updating,
I updated this week and still got bricked
My question is how can i downgrade to Android 10 again? My phone still works but is REALLY slow and some apps crashed constantly.. any help?
