Post processing ai ftw, at least in low res social media polls.
What matters is where we see most of the pictures.and that is on our mobile. So people who are about to comment about details and big screen please tell me how many times you scroll facebook instagram snapchat on your desktop.
Great out of the box photos to capture a moment. What more can you ask for on such a value phone?
Good dynamic range, good colours and a balanced image is what was needed to do well in this test, and that’s exactly what the Poco had. In fact the Poco has the same camera sensor that the Pixel 3 does. Had it been a test that was aimed at showing which camera had the best detail and low light photos, the Poco wouldn’t have made it anywhere near the top(with the stock camera app).
I rarely ever get let down by the Poco camera in good light, and usually the photos come out similar to how I see the scene with my eyes.
The Poco has a really good camera which the majority of people will be happy with, it does almost everything right. Pair it with Gcam however and it’ll be as good as most flagships.
I use only twitter and reddit. And I’m doing it mostly on my pc 😉
No tracking? No annoying notifications?
Shows that people don’t have much knowledge about photography. No disrespect to Poco but it absolutely isn’t better than an iPhone or Note 9
I didn’t say that I’m doing it all the time 😂
that’s his video Dumbo
flash a custom rom?
Have to unlock the bootloader first, give credentials first to get it unlocked, ergo tracking
You can let people walk all over you, and they’d still complain you weren’t laying flat enough
xiaomi made unlocking the bootloader really easy, and the only credentials i had to give them were my email and phone number, thats really not a big deal for me.
Coming from a Note 9 (and currently using an S9 Plus), I’ll say that while the Poco F1 has a ton of issues, image quality isn’t one of them.
I was deeply impressed with the camera capability of the device and were it not for the million annoying bugs on the stock ROM, I would still be rocking my unit as a back-up device. I also lucked out and my unit (armoured edition) didn’t have a single hardware flaw, including any instance of light bleed.
Oh well!
Well if the point of the matter was lying flat…
Ok
Fair, but the point is the phones price point is subsidized to a big degree by the software. Despite that, they let you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom. If their software didn’t use he model it did, you wouldn’t get the price.
okay all off you can stop sucking the balls off of poco.. it does have a good camera especially if you install pixel camera on it. but considering this voting people only picked the picture with the most exposure and the big phones got knocked out cause the photos weren’t viewed side by side and the sharpness, lowlight and dynamic range weren’t considered much also cause of the post processing of insta and Twitter.
so to sum it up this doesn’t prove anything.. I’m saying this to people who actually believe this is the crux and run around saying pocofone is better than the XS and the note 9 why th are you spending ~$800 for a phone when the $300 one is better.
It’s absolutely not.
But it’s fantastic for the price.
I currently use an S9 Plus (coming from a Note 9 > iPhone 8 Plus) and I wouldn’t worry too much about carrying just the Poco as my daily, even if I had to take a bunch of pictures.
The camera really is that good!
I have a ton of issues with Xiaomi devices of late, but credit is due where it’s due.
True
I’m very happy with the camera of the F1, but this test was much more informative on people’s preferences than anything else. The comparison between the Blackberry and the iPhone Xs in particular, wow, when zooming into the details there was just pixel mouse left…
actually even I picked the brighter photo on many occasions cause I wasn’t able to compare any other detail and it was all in well lit situations. and I’ve seen how the majority of the phones perform and that’s not my preference.. it’s more like that particular picture preference based upon on exposure.
That reply was rude as fuck and uncalled for, you should apologize to them
Still doesn’t work for T-Mobile bands right? Been wanting to upgrade to an Android phone and had my eyes on this one, but apparently it only supports two bands from T-Mobile .
trust me some people just read the title and jump to conclusions.. exposure was almost the only thing compared and dynamic range a little.. not lowlight not sharpness and detail not the portrait it’s edge detection or how realistic the blur is.
I’m not talking about other reviewers in the video jump to conclusions, just the general viewers.

I’ll have to pick up another unit though and I am very happy with my s9 plus.
But I see what you mean!
Hilarious you got down voted so hard for saying the truth in a polite manner. I mean even the reviewer basically said what you said.
Dude spoilers.
It’s the hive mind. Every subreddit has one
Dose it work with Verizon
And who do you think is following and watching MKBHD videos? Tech enthusiasts. They’re are no photo expert, but they sure know how to judge a photo and evaluate a picture with the camera’s specs sheet. If you would compare the photo straight out the camera, other phones would probably do better, but almost every photo will be shared on some sort of websites with compression.
Doesn’t support most US bands since they arent used by the majority of the nations.
Well, the Pocophone camera is definitely good in some aspects, but it’s still not the BEST camera overall, especially when the Pixels, iPhones and Note 9 are in the bracket. Then again, it costs like 30-40% of those phones.
Still, it was pretty hilarious to see those other people’s reactions to the Poco lasting so long XD
Haha. I was looking for someone to say it.
This cracked me up :p
yet I’m the one downvoted so much
This comparison is a bit too meaningless for my tastes. They’re just testing for “which camera app had the better autoexposure”.
Come to think of it, maybe that’s a valid use case for people, if you don’t want to have to spend a second tweaking a photo, the better autoexposure wins.
However, for someone who might want to edit their photos a bit, low noise performance/dynamic range/accurate color reproduction win over sane defaults, but this test didn’t go there at all. They didn’t even normalize the photos a bit before posting, it was all straight out of the camera.
My Poco is currently being RMA’d and I miss it whenever I snap a pic with my Nexus 5x 🙁
For the price the Poco F1 has achieved something special here .
It does not support their largest band, B13
If the iPhone had won, would they still have had half the video dedicated to completely disregarding the results?
Wow! On the one hand I’m impressed and on the other hand I’m mad at you for spoiling the video for me. I saved it to watch later for after work.
Does the Poco have OIS?
Rather wait a bit to unlock then have random shit put into my phone from a reseller.

No OIS. Need to move up to the Mi 8 for that.
I’d much rather have bootloader unlock from day 1 so I can remove the reseller shit myself and also not have to deal with Xiaomi stock MIUI shit
Just put a launcher on it until you can unlock. This is the way it is and it’s like this so people don’t mess with your phone before you receive it. Little dramatic don’t you think?
I actually don’t min the MIUI UI. What I won’t stand for is the privacy risk that is MIUI. That alone is why I flash stock.
