Damn. He slowly branches out reviews from American focused reviews.
He has showcased xiaomi before
Mi mix
Mi Mix 2
Pocophone F1
Jesus christ the front Camera.
He fucked up the front camera HARD. i don’t know what he did but he has done something fucky with it that made it look like some 2011 galaxy Y VGA

Just compare it to that GSMarena sample and some other ones. They are night and day to what MKBHD showcased.
Is it just me, or do you cringe when he reviews Xiaomi phones? I knew he would pronounce MIUI wrong. He needs to just review Apple, Pixel, Samsung and OnePlus phones.
As I’ve said. American centric
notice how every front facing picture is overexposed just like in the video
Those aren’t that great either.
It’s still far superior to the garbage that MKBHD produced
I notice that the Mi 9T with stock cam also struggles to take my selfie and overexposed similar to what happened to MKBHD.
One thing I notice is that the camera really tries to brighten my dark skin to get as much details as possible and end up with a very bright background with barely any details.
I understand that, but at least do a little more research into the product you are reviewing. That’s probably why he stuck to more hands on videos with Xiaomi devices in the past.
40+ day processing time on aliexpress if anyone is ordering one lol
Xiaomi camera bokeh looks the most natural one for me.
Sure, but there is a big difference between photos a bit overexposed and photos looking like someone dipped the camera in vaseline.
I have no problem with the photos in the GSMarena review. The photos in this video are straight up unusable.
Maybe the camera is racist?
Trying to make dark skin white thinking it’s a shadow.
He could have just compared it with Mi 9T he’s having. 🤔
If you choose DHL shipping it’s faster
You should be happy that Xiaomi is getting coverage from a guy with as a large following as MKBHD.
Yeah thats what i was thinking as well… Its a phone for the chinese market and they like very very white looking selfies, almost looking like a ghost
So it thinks its dark outside when it sees you lol
Nah man, there is something fucky going on with Xiaomi camera reviews. It’s like that with their Mi9 too, when I test their phones in shop the quality is so damn bad.
i’ve asked around so much if i should order the K20 Pro 8gb 128gb from aliexpress, and everyone says that you shouldn’t order osmething that high of value from aliexpress, even in the aliexpress subs, like what? i don’t seem to quite understand and i’m stuck in the middle of ordering and not ordering suggestions, whats your guys opinion?
You should use ie gearbest, priority line shipment and PayPal payment. Don’t use Ali for ordering phones
You just flash it with LOS/PE + Gcam and this will be the flagship killer
Its just normalizing the colors
Why?
His reviews are okay with good production but I don’t get that impression at all.
I finally decided on buying a Mi 9, then he comes with a k20 pro review. I don’t know whether I should wait for the Mi 9t Pro or buy a Mi 9.
It’s actually quite possible that during development and testing they forgot to try it on a black person. I assume their is only a very small population of black people in china
What am I thinking right now? While you are at it, give me tomorrow’s lottery number.
Opinion is okay to have and they are also okay to be scrutinized if it is rubbish, baseless and voiced or posted in a public place/forum.
I disagree with his review of the front camera and I don’t think he suggested in anyway that his personal taste should be the bar from every one etc.
You haven’t given a single example to back up what you are saying. I’m kind of curious to hear your thoughts more.
I stopped video when I saw front camera photos. Sad…
Depends on what your priorities are.
I really wanted a phone with as good of a camera as i could find, it having a bezel-less display and a large battery for an affordable ammount. Just so happens the 9T launched days prior to me starting to decide what I’m gonna go for. Also, the headphone jack didn’t hurt either.
Mi 9t
so its Mi Mix 4?
I was just curious why you thought this. No need to get so defensive, calm down.
Probably not unless the one who ports it adds it for k20 pro. Which is very unlikely
A review is his opinion on the device he uses. Don’t watch him if your taste or opinion is not the same. It’s that simple
Not sure about it. I don’t own a K20. I use a Pocophone f1 with GCAM. GCAM extracts the best put of harware. I think someone will definitely come out with a port of K20 because it’s going to be very popular.
“128 Geebees”
I think it is a faulty unit. I am using mi9 and i heard mi9T camera unit is different than mi9… But it wasn’t that bad when i tested it out.
Do you like the OS on the OP6?
You won’t get coverage everywhere. In cities it maybe won’t really be a problem but once you leave the city, you may get poor or even no service
Then what’s your definition of review? If it’s all down to data only (battery life, benchmark numbers) those are not reviews. Thats analysis
why not flash pex on your op6?
I ordered that exactly and it took two weeks with no problems, only order from shops with good reviews.
maybe a faulty app? or is it the screen on time?
This is good advice in general, although why not Ali? I don’t doubt you, just asking.
Is the K20 pro sold anywhere? If it has an 855 Snapdragon, I want to replace my Pocophone with it.
China and India (I think) and yes
while gaming? I bet it’ll be just comparable even if you got a k20 pro with +10-30min extra
I agree!
Oh fantastic, I’ll keep checking Gearbest, thanks.
Its a faulty unit
In phone reviews mkbhd is close to useless, i have looked at his reviews and he usually got basic things wrong, he’s not the first to review this model, couldn’t have looked or asked around? Contact xiaomi?
He really got a defective piece!
Absolutely! I’d say it manages better bokeh at times than the Pixel devices.
Downsides are that you can’t change the amount of bokeh (on selfies), nor can you have HDR in Portrait mode, both of which a Pixel (and Gcam) can do…
Thankfully, Xiaomi phones are compatible with Gcam!
What a lazy review.. Jesus. He Cleary not comfortable to make this one. Don’t like miui? Neither do I, I really dislike memeui and this is far from a problem tbh, we can aways unlock bootloader and flash an AOSP rom, there are plenty out there and the support to k20p is growing. Xiaomeme camera apps are sucks, end of story. But we still can use Google camera and have superior photos and videos than default camera app. I currently have a redmi note 7 pro and only going to buy a new one on the end of year, maybe mi11 or other Xiaomeme phone become more attractive than k20p, but if not, this will be my 110% choice for upgrade here.
Ali sellers used to takes up to 5 days (business days) on process shipping, plus more 7-10 days for arrival on your country, most likely it will take up to 25 days for you get it.
Same with gearbest

There you go
Yes, double tapping the front/rear camera switching button will switch either to the ultrawide or tele lens based on what you enable in the settings.
You still have to turn on Camera2API manually which requires temporary rooting.
>You still have to turn on Camera2API manually which requires temporary rooting.
Since the Redmi Note 7, the Camera2 API is enabled out of the box, and they also enabled it on the Mi 8 / Mix 2S and newer flagships.
Oh dang, I actually didn’t know that.
In manual mode you can change it , even in portrait mode 🙂
Portrait mode and Pro mode are two different modes as far as I know.
You can adjust the Focus in Pro mode, but that’s different from Portrait mode.
You can adjust the bokeh on Portrait shots shot with the rear camera only.
Yep, my bad 🙂
Somebody tweet this at him so that he notices and offers a correction
The camera isn’t bad at all. I did a camera comparison between the Xiaomi Mi 9T and the Samsung S9+. The camera on the Xiaomi mi 9t and the Redmi K20/K20 pro are the same and honestly i think the Xiaomi Mi9T came on top.
The only area where the camera fails is in dark environment using night sight and using the telephoto lense.
