Basically title. Most of the time its the top drainer. Before on MIUI 11 it drained very little (perhaps 10%). Now it easily drains 25% of one full charge.
I even noticed yesterday that i lost 10% in 10 min! (5 min were display off) And 50% of that drain was “android system”.
Drain before was much worse. What helped was optimization, restrictions on background use on apps, disabling well-being and debloating with szaki debloater from github (after i did this i got like 11h SOT easily). But now i have like 8-9 h.
I didnt debloat everything because i was afraid to brick my device.
Any ideas on what this “android system” is and how to stop it? I have a feeling this is a lot of xiaomi stuff hidden behind “android system”
EDIT: so i debloated the rest of the miui stuff and removed it. Battery got better right after closer to 10% h SOT. Now a few days later apps seem to be optimized (?) and android system is not draining as much anymore and i got almost 12 hours SOT on mostly YouTube, Reddit and Browser. What i noticed was all of them consumed less than 10% per hour. Before browser used like 17%.
Thank you all for the help! 🙂
I updated like 10 days ago. Tried a lot of things that helped. The only annoying thing left is android system drain
it’s happening to me as well. Very annoying. Thinking of switching to pixel experience. Is the battery life good with that custom rom?
Just do the debloat… It won’t harm your phone. The developer doesn’t allow any apps that could cause issues to be removed.
https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools
Well, I just let it through and try not to overheat it as it consumes more battery.
So i can safely disable all of them?
update to 12.0.3.0
How long did it take for you to lose it?
I’m using Pixel experience with redmi note 7. The battery life is absolutely amazing
Earlier this week there was a post from someone saying they were fine on 12.0.2.0 but got bad battery drain issues after they updated to 12.0.3.0.
So you really don’t know which version is going to have the problem for you.
Personally I used 12.0.2.0 for two weeks without issue and updated to 12.0.3.0 two days ago and still have no problems.
Nice
12.0.3.0 fixed my battery drain, and for a lot of people also.
xda forum have more info:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t
I had this problem in miui as well. A simple shutdown of 2mins and then booting it solved it. It went back to having screen as the most battery consuming.
I insta updated to 12.0.3 and i have the drain issue. What do i do ?
debloat. see what is using your battery in battery usage stats.
I’m using an unofficial Pixel OS ROM and I get about 10-11 hours of screen time.
Yes. Delete what you can and disable the ones that fail deletion.
Keep the apps you want to use of course.
This started to happen to me as well. Started a couple of days ago. Before it was never over 10 percent. Stupid MIUI. I’m on 11.0.1
Mostly android system and screen tho before the update the screen was not a big issue
What did you do for it to not appear?
That is very weird… If yours isnt even listed in settings>battery & performance>battery usage stats then i guess its some kind of bug on my end
Can you link a beginner level guide?
The last time I used a custom ROM was cyanogenmod on my dad’s old nexus s, so I’m out of touch.
I just got 11 hours sot with picsel FE, with two nights included
This is what I have used for my device:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/how-to/one-redmi-note-7-unlock-bootloader-t3890751
I had this problem too and I’ve done a bunch of things including factory reset to no avail. I’m running MIUI v12.0.3.0.QFJINXM (India) ROM.
I’ve been on 12.0.2.0.QFJINXM too and I really don’t see much change after the recent update.
All I see is a clear and horrible regression in battery life compared to MIUI 11.
I have the exact same situation.
Without looking into details, I am sure how much the battery is draining because I had the exact same usage for weeks. For example I always start the day with 100% and I never had the need to charge mid-day, which is happening every day since the update.
I also have a big issue with the Keyboard which lag so much I’m unable to use the keyboard.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
Edit: in my previous 11 version, I customized nothing (debloat etc.) and was happy with the default autonomy.
Now I still don’t want to tinker. I mean I don’t buy a phone to tinker it to have something usable.
I’m in the same situation than OP, did the update more than a week ago through OTA. And restarted the phone so many times. The difference with this version is ridiculous. This is what surprised me.
If the culprit is “Android System”, why removing Xiaomi app will fix the drain?
How can we update if it’s still not appearing as OTA update? I got 12.0.2.0 a week or so ago, and it displays that there’s no update available.
This seemed to work for my Poco F2 Pro on MIUI 12.0.1 https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f2-pro/how-to/improving-battery-life-miui-12-t4139913
I’m having the same issue.
i never had any battery issues with MIUI 11. when i switched to pixel experience the battery life is still the same.
right now i’m using [xiaomi.eu](https://xiaomi.eu) it felt more battery draining but can’t tell because my phone is now 1 years old (it was 3 months old when i try PE).
installing manually with twrp (recovery)
Try clearing cache for android system and google play services, then overcharge your phone.
I debloated and still have the same issue
Thanks..
So I guess that I need to download the ROM myself. Is there some official repo of the stock ROMs ?
Did you try reflashing your ROM and starting over? Is your MIUI optimizations on or off?
I have miui 12 for a month now and I had this problem for 4-5 days in total. Everytime I found out it was draining my battery again, I restarted my phone (doesn’t always work). I’m on 9T as well.
I found many bugs on miui 12 so far:
– Notification bar doesn’t hide in full screen videos/games
– Battery drain by the system
– My phone restarted several times at random moments
– Automatic screen rotation is doing the opposite of what it’s supposed to do
Most of these bugs are temporarily fixable by restarting your device. But they shouldn’t even excist
I think a lot of background acitivities are hidden and summarized under “android system”. Because a lot of smartphones dont have this exact issue and its probably due to the MIUI update, i guess its some MIUI bloat failing and causing drain.
But it might not help because whatever is causing the drain might not be available to debloat
It fucked mine. Damn it
What does it do? Seems like a placebo fix
I did something which fixed it just can’t remember what. Make sure app optimization is on, maybe delete a couple of apps, like big games if you have any, and then reinstall them.
Looks interesting! Will try it out! Thanks!
The first command disables user tracking. No idea if its placebo or not but my battery life most definitely improved
I’ll give it a shot
Wait for an update. It wil be released soona. They have found a bug and working on it. So hang in there.
I have a Mi 9T and I switched to Pixel Experience.
When I got the MIUI update, I was excited, but shortly after, I realized that many of the games I was playing were very laggy. So I switched to Pixel Experience, and I can say that made a huge difference
I was able to play so many games without lag, but I wasn’t able to put all of them in fullscreen mode as I was able to do on MIUI.
Also, there are so many customizable things.
Switching to Pixel Experience was a good thing. Would have switched to LineageOS, as they said they were offering premium support for Mi 9T, but the official rom was not released, even to this day. There are only unofficial builds, and I got none of them to work. Only Pixel Experience worked. (I dedicated 2 whole days to try and install Lineage without success)
About the battery life, it’s also much better now, less overheating and more enjoyment.
9/10 I would recommend
.
Did you try disabling MIUI Optimization in Developer Settings?
Yeah i did that too!
Hmm, this might seem like a strange question but can you narrow down some specific apps that might be the culprit as to why the battery drain is so high? Android System groups a bunch of system apps together so it dosent really say much. That said, which apps do you think might be causing the issue?
While you’re at it, if you have any Themes disable them(that is revert back to classic).Do clear google play store and play services data as well.
I think the drain is mostly fixed. What helped was all the things i already mentioned AND disabling all Xiaomi stuff i could with szaki debloater. I might try some other things and see if it gets even better. But right now its about 0.8-1% standby drain and 10% per hour SOT (=10 h SOT)
Sounds good! Strange that you had to delete all the xiaomi apps, though in fairness i dont think thats too much lost xd.
Well i have a redmi note 8 pro and it also has the same issues, battery is draining super fast, all the animations seems delay
How has your phone’s performance been after doing the debloat? How much percent do you currently have on android system?
Which Xiaomi apps did you disable?
