I think I’m jumping ship to the Pixel 4a this summer.
I like when Miui does things the Miui way, but copying iOS is not the way to go for me.
Obviously a million different opinions though.
I probably wont go with a Google Pixel until stock Android gets one hand mode. With the sizes of phones these days its a must have and I use the feature daily . But that is not the only reason, I cant afford Pixels or iPhones (at the moment and foreseeable future), and I love Xiaomi as a company in the way they disrupted and created affordable, high spec and quality gear for all. Thus I have a lot of goodwil towards companies like Xiaomi, Honor, Realme and even current Nokia.
This update made my phone pretty slow with the new animations and I could not find a way to make it more smooth. Also, I do not like the fact that you swipe down left for notifications and right for control center. Usually I hold the phone with me right hand and reaching the top left corner is too far away
Miui always copied iOS.
Oh man, so they literally copied iOS.. Welp
Thanks! I just found it! Somehow the search function under option also seems slower. Well, I’ll just hope for some updates soon that make it smoother!
I’m on MIUI 12 now ([Xiaomi.EU](https://Xiaomi.EU) ROM). You can switch back to the Android notification shade anytime at the settings. The only other IOS-like changes they did were cleaner looking menus. So far, no regrets updating from MIUI 11.
I don’t get why is it so surprising. Look at iOS 13 and MIUI 11 side by side. You can clearly see there’s more than inspiration going on there ..
Of course there’s nothing wrong with being unwilling to use it for this reason. It’s just that this has been going on for some time.
Yup, just found it, thanks!
This is not a very nice move in my opinion.
First of all, copying a bad design from a bad system (assuming most miui fans dont like apple, since they use android)
Second of all, just a very unoriginal move from them. they could’ve easily thought of something better. but they didnt.
Phones are designed to be held with one hand the screen touched with the other. One hand use shouldn’t be the standard.
Good to know.
I just feel it’s been getting less and less lately, but this is a jump in the other direction.
How is it ? Stable? What about the screen on time?
I like the add eactivation but IOS menus…
> I like when Miui does things the Miui way
They were the first to come up with the gestures that now everyone is copying (swiping from the sides to go back) They don’t need to copy iOS.
I’ debating buying the 4a or the Xperia 10 II.
It’s smooth and as stable as the latest MIUI 11 builds. I also haven’t noticed any decrease in screen on time. The only problems I had were overlapping time and weather on the notification shade and the missing option for 5G. Both were fixed on the latest update though.
Xiaomi and privacy doesn’t go together in the same sentence.
Well I think it’s nice that they give the option, it’s just more customisation which is always good and it’s not an imposition, if someone wants a more iOS like experience they can have it, otherwise you can still have the more stock-like look if you prefer
oh its an ootion. i thought it was gonna REPLACE the top one.
You can disable it.
Turning off a feature you don’t like < getting triggered like a crybaby and jump ship
I’m not getting triggered. Chill. I was looking at the pixel way before this news. I’m happy with the phone, but I like trying different things. I just don’t like this directional move.
“mOrE pRiVaCy”
Oh, I’m sorry for my rude comment, I thought you’re one those people that get triggered with anything iOS
I dislike Apple as much as the rest of the community, don’t get me wrong.
But those people are just plain childish
That’s why we use launchers…
Seems to be released on 19 May, isn’t so early compared to MIUI11?
No problem, emotions are hard to gauge online. Apple does many things right, but not the control center in my opinion, and I liked how Miui was going in it’s own direction with 11 and 12.
Even their “privacy” feature will be calling that mistat endpoint 50 times per minute like everything in MIUI 11 does.
*msa and analytics joined the chat.*
> You can switch back to the old one tho
For now.
You can disable the ugly control center thankfully. The animations made me sick
Can you use the developer options to turn of or make the animations faster like we can now?
I only have the feature to turn it off under developer options but it does not seem to have any effect from what I see!
They did that on last China beta. I’m on it
and with that “msa” too.
But anyway, Google should copy that privacy log and send blank information on MIUI 12 to Android. That’s actually pretty useful addition.
Are you for real? Just to name one other thing that is blatantly copied from iOS: gestures!
MIUI and xiaomi always tried to copy Apple regarding phones and OS, you can like xiaomi as much as you want but that’s cold hard truth son
i think [androidauthority](https://www.androidauthority.com/miui-12-review-1114418/) is far too cozy with MIUI, it is the devils work.
xiaomi makes great hardware for good prices, but their interface is shit.
Redmi note 8 miui 12 is not out yet, (apparently) testing android 10 update before release.
As to how to do it, first you have to unlock your bootloader, that requires a permission from xiaomi, is pretty straight forward to get it, then it is a simple matter of flashing the desired os using a modified recovery rom (typically TWRP)
You can find detailed guides at the xiaomi.eu forums or at xda.org
Nicee
I don’t agree. MIUI is pretty solid and refined with features stock Android don’t have. Source : Redmi Note 5 owner.
and the ads are nice too !
i also like how MIUI sends to chinese servers everything i do on the phone.
John238 when you are right, you are right.
have a good day sir.
Feature number 13: slower ui
Privacy has left the chat
I am hundred percent sure they make a profit by selling user data as there is no way they make enough money on the phone itself at the cost at which they sell phones in India.
Yeah, i hope those privacy features are applicable to their own miui system apps.
#*more*
I like MIUI. Particularly how feature rich it is. But even on the ads, they can’t make it as smooth and fluid as vanilla android (Currently on pixel experience). I don’t know if i can adapt back to MIUIs inferior fluidity
Disable ads from each apps settings, takes only 2min.
Or just don’t use stock apps
They’ve been copying iOS for a long time.
It’s pretty similar to default Android gestures. Maybe because Android copied it from iOS too?
Even on the miui12 Xiaomi.eu rom the sliding of th volume bar is really slow and takes at least 5 swipes from bottom to top to get it to be full
It is nice if you have a good phone, but it’s too heavy and clunky, custom ROMs with stock android are a lot more smooth, and I’d say some of them are less buggy even. Source: Redmi Note 5 user
I’m pretty sure that they were able to cheap out on devices by using cheap parts like Mobo (besides CPU etc) and then barely advertising them. Today though, they do have a lot of commercials but as we see, their phones get more expensive (Mi 10/ pro).
Not saying you’re wrong completely but yeah let’s not forget these things.
🙂
The update added or enabled that bottom screen white bar that appears system wide with no purpose at all but eating display space and looking ugly. Is there a way to get rid of it, it definitely wasn’t there before the update, so it either wasnt a thing or got enabled.
Have you tried using banking apps / vpn on this rom ?
Any issues ?
Haven’t tried VPNs yet but my banking apps are all working fine.
Laughs in india.
