New customizable font settings. You can change boldness, width etc system wide.

    Nice but…. why?

It’s like they are trying to fix a problem that doesn’t exist.

Yes, you can change the thickness of the font to pretty much anything. Personally I find it gimmicky but perhaps for people that have a hard time reading the current font it might be nice to have them thicker.

Only reason why I think someone went through making this is for people that have a hard time reading and turn the text thickness to max..but those people would already have a bigger text size.. just a update gimmick i guess.

    Yes.

    You can change the width.
    >Further, MIUI 11 features a variable thickness slider for the font instead of fixed-step changes, allowing users the freedom to choose the exact thickness for the font.

Personally, I used to be really big into customizing my phone, but I don’t have a custom ROM anymore, so up until recently I was using an app to use a custom font to replace the default. This new font thing is something I’m super excited for, because I just don’t like the default font and a lot of people that really like the option to customize every aspect of their phone’s UI I think will enjoy something like this.

    Both.

MIUI 10 is fine, but has a few oddities, at least some of which I know are being fixed in MIUI 11 (and/or Android 10).

But also, I now appreciate the good things I’ve found in MIUI (vs the stock Android I came from on Essential), and look forward to more unique stuff I’ll like, such as the custom always on display in MIUI 11.

Very good phone, fast, snappy, *excellent* display. Only few issues I’ve found are those aforementioned software quirks, the fingerprint scanner not being super fast or big, and inability to change default camera to GCam.

Each version is a bit better and I always crave the latest, but I’m always a bit disappointed as a few things get better and you’ll find a few things have gone but there’s never anything life changing there.

Sure, new customisation options are welcome but I won’t be staying up to download it!

MIUI always comes with big hype.

You can change the default camera app to Gcam. Go to Settings, Manage apps, 3 dots at top right, Default apps. Over there you can change it.

It does through the themes app, if you have your region set to India. But you can only select from their library of mostly terrible fonts, without the option of changing font weight. I was using a third party app, but my theme kept resetting after the last MIUI update so I’ve had to stop using it.
