(mi A2) A request to open camera2 API

  • 0
  • 0

If you’re a mi A2 owner, upvote this post and comment asking xiaomi to open the camera2 API on our devices so we can get the best of the phone’s great cameras.. our phone has a great camera why restrict it, Unleash the beast.
Devices like Poco f1 come with there camera2 API enabled.. no need to unlock bootloader or root our devices and void warranty..
We appreciate that Xiaomi is taking an open approach with our device and made unlocking it seamless, also providing all the sources less than a month after the release. That’s pretty awesome.
So complete this open philosophy regarding the device and enable the API.

Guys we need to pressure xiaomi and make our voice heard.. let’s discuss what to do
Maybe flooding thier tweet feed could do the trick and if we get some good tech influencers to back us maybe it’ll happen

We can’t even enable it on Note 4 anymore on MIUI 10. I am beyond disappointed.

Yeah, but Xiaomi could enable it easily with a simple software update, other devices come with it enabled out of the box no big deal
Rooting would require unblocking bootloader and voiding the warranty

This tought is pretty intersting. People are often interested into other camera applications and the good example is Google Camera. Provides great result and better options. Recently two days ago I shared an download link for Poco F1 device and people were fucking happy from the result. And for that Camera2API is the primary need. I am using Mi 4 right now and cannot use other camera apps because of not having Camera2API feature.

The Mi A2 is flooded with bugs (check the xda forum). You really think xiaomi is gonna enable camera2api when they haven’t even acknowledged or fixed any of them?

You can enable Camera2 API, but anything that tries to use it will get a black picture. I’d assume they’re working on the official Portrait mode and they broke it with it, somehow.

They have many guides to enable camera2API and EIS for MI A1. There is a guide which lets you to enable camera2api and keep the bootloader closed simultaneously.

Afaik You need to be on April or older to relock bootloader without losing cam2api but after that you can update without losing anything.

According to the q&a forum of the a2 at xda developers, users have reported slow wifi speeds, slow read/write speeds, frequencies stuck at maximum when using the fingerprint unlock method, issues with sms (something about the dual Sims), GPS issues, Bluetooth issues, signal loss, touch latency and I don’t know what else. I’m not saying all of the devices are affected and I don’t have the device myself. I was thinking of buying it and that’s why I’m researching it.
