Ok thank you, I have the Mi 8 and hate the notch, you don’t get all notifications because of this. Do you get all notifications on the status bar?
check my latest comment, let me know if you see it now
I am currently using a Xiaomi Mi Note 2. While the phone itself is perfect, the earpiece is extremely low for my use. Hearing the other person on the phone is extremely difficult.
Me too, i also like the included case… better than the slippery ceramic back
Yeah got it, thanks mate
After using it for a year, I moved to a Sony Xperia XZ1 because of the 960 fps video recording and the block build which I entirely love. However, after just 6 months, I returned to the Mi Note 2 for all of the above reasons which you just mentioned. It has everything I want except for a decent network reception and audio volume through the earpiece. Even the camera after MIUI 10, is insanely superior to any other camera I have used. The screen is stunning and the curved display just turns this phone in to a beauty. Above everything else – the 4070 mah battery is fantabulous – assuring me a full day of heavy use. I have the Global version with 6GB and 128 GB configuration so the SD821 has enough to run as smoothly. Sure, the XZ1 launcher is much lighter and hence the apps load faster but that is not a deal breaker. However, MIUI 10 does not handle notifications as well as stock android. But hey, no phone is perfect.
yea but ceramic is tough. watch jerryrigeverything’s drop test
How is the battery life on this thing?
Took me less than 3 weeks for this case
I don’t turn on the notification on the status bar, which means i usually pull down from the top to check notification. Just preferences i guess. However, i believe i do receive all notification on the status bar if i turn it on. Will test it and let you know though
Ok thank you, I really use the Google Assistant on a daily basis and I will have to sell mi Miv8 and get a pixel phone since it looks like XIAOMI won’t allow their phones to be unlocked with the assistant. Thanks in advance for your assistance!!

Why did the P20 Pro annoyed you? The camera is supposed to be the best
Sorry but the camera is not “mediocre”, and even the front camera holds up really well for being 5mpx. Clearly you need to try the Gcam (no root requiered). Use the ones that have Mi8_x.x.x in the file name and from developer BSG.

Only people that don’t know AliExpress say that 😀
have you played with rooting it or installing custom roms yet?
this is ceramic, not glass
Well, one thing you’re going to have to get used to after switching from an iPhone is less case options… er, looks like you got that covered.
The camera is mediocre against other flagship but i find it to be better than the ip7 when there is good lighting
it’s a nice case and all but i would prefer to feel the ceramic
yeah the frame and screen got fucked…
☺️ it’s the best phone right now. Ok, battery is a little small but everything else is really nice. I came from the P20PRO (which annoyed me in many ways) and found the mi Mix2s does even better macro shots 🤯.[Sample Macro](https://i.imgur.com/ut2G2i1.jpg)
Indeed. Such a nice case! A link would be appreciated!
There are lots of case options on AliExpress to be sure. But, for instance, when I go to a rock concert and check out the merch, they generally only have cases for the newer iPhone models, and maybe some of the more popular Galaxy’s if you’re lucky. When there are “smartphone cases” being sold at events and the like, you’re not likely to find cases available for Mi Mix 2.
Well that’s true, I agree with that
could you review this camera? ofc comparing it with your iphone7
Why is that?..
And no way to link it here?
Reddit deleted every single link i posted… Why do you have to be a dick about it

Reddit see them as spam and delete them sadly. You could always take a screen shot or picture of it and post that.
Yes, the haptic is great. I only put on a case in specific scenarios, like going out or something like that.
Thanks man !
Wow! I think I need to do that as well. Let me try some ADB myself. I wanted to purchase this for a while now. Thank you.
my point is, it’s nice to use your phone without a case until you drop it lol
It may be the best at night and mid to long distance shots.
EMUI had some features missing, compared to miui.
For example first party call recording, no fokus peaking in manual camera mode, poor quality oled display which becomes more and more greenish while reducing the brightness. On low brightness the display has also massive tearing issues. (black on grey/grey on black/white on black)
It couldn’t play voice messages from Signal (a sercure messenger app) for a long time. And some other things i can’t remember right now. Oh yeah one thing i can remember.. the huge loss i had to take with selling it. After 6 month i lost more than 50%.. it’s a thing that will never happen with a Xiaomi flagship.
Sorry about my bad english.
Yeah, Aliexpress links are hard to link, I’ve tried a few before and they all led to main page…
until you drop it lol
sorry I had one more question for you so currently I have the meat 8th and when I’m using GPS with Google maps it keeps losing signal. It’s a known issue with a lot of meat 8 in the community and it’s been reported to Xiaomi, so I’m wondering if you have ever used Google maps navigation and if it held a signal steady.
Xiaomi has bettered themselves now with the Mi 8 and other phones. Take a look at those. Their cameras are excellent and so is their build quality. They all get SD845 and remain affordable.
I have a question; when using Google assistant, and your phone is locked. Does it unlock the phone with your commands?
Have you tried using hotspot yet? Does it do the typical carrier provisioning check or is it good to go out of the box?
I’ve always wanted the Mi Note 2 global version, but I never was able to get it and now it’s hard to find. 😢
Man that’s a dope case. What’s that? Link if you don’t mind please good sir.

There’s no reply with the case mate. If you bought it from Aliexpress and linked it then your reply got automatically deleted by reddit.
Unfortunately it doesn’t unlock the phone. It has to either be a pixel or custom Rom i think
I’ve heard about that, on the beta ROM they work flawlessly! Install it (really stable actually) or just wait for the next stable update which should be compatible with the new Gcam.
or it means “jet fuel does not melt steel beams”
Can’t see, dude
That case though…
What the cost? Phone is $420 case is $2
Those newer versions lock up on me and the camera gets very laggy on my Mix 2s. I have an older version of gcam that works really well but those new ones titled Mi8 by BSG aren’t working for me.
Yes it works perfectly fine out of the box and i use AT&T gophone plan
Look for the gcam API for mi mix 2s. I installed it the other day (no root needed now on pi) and saw some better camera performance.
Mi note 2 was such a precious phone, I was in love with the piano black color… Curved screen, AMOLED… Too bad they never sold it in Spain.. So, how does sd821 hold these days?
Yeah you’re gonna love the pixel. My girlfriend has the pixel 3 xl and its phone is amazing. Especially the camera and stock OS
Good to know! Yeah I’ve got an older version working for now. Thanks!
No i haven’t actually, but im sure you can do it better easily. Check out the subreddit wiki
The Mi Mix 2s is a really good phone from what I have read/seen in reviews! Also, that case is out of this world, looks dope!
Ceramic is harder, but more brittle than glass. Don’t drop it.
Link to the case please..
the battery last me on average about 5-7 hours of SOT. It really depends on what kind of usage you’re expecting. If i stream YouTube a lot then it’s about 4-5 hours, just generic email, phone calls, and Reddit then it would be around 6-7 hours
For anyone interested, I bought the case on Aliexpress but i can’t link it here so the URL after dot com is /item/Bumper-Case-for-Xiaomi-Mi-Mix2S-Mix-2-S-Soft-Back-Cover-for-Xiaomi-Mi-Mix/32906221743.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3da24c4def4d1T
as long as the ceramic is fine lol
No problem at all. For Google map, my experience has been pretty good, the only time when it was not steady was when i turned off GPS prior to using the Google map. When it was turned on again, my map worked perfectly fine. Not sure why your Mi 8 is giving you problems.
As for notifications, i can confirm that all notifications do show up on the status bar after a day of testing.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Check my other reply man
Thank you. I really needed this.
Thanks man, the phone is definitely nice just the front camera is a bit annoying
Sorry i don’t use the assistant in “listen always” mode. It’s fine for me with my ghome but my phone isn’t allowed to do that
I have a question; when using Google assistant, and your phone is locked. Does it unlock the phone with your commands?
Ah! That is an advantage I do not have. I am mostly working on and about on the road so I get a chance to charge only during the night. I need the battery to last me 14-16 hours. More than anything else, I have 7 email accounts which take up a lot of the background juice.
