Oooh, how’d you get that? I would be interested in using that myself
It is very easy to install the Pixel live wallpapers, don’t even need root and works on most Android phones. Download the official Google wallpapers app on the play store. Download and install the live wallpapers from this xda post. You can choose which years Pixel wallpapers you want, 2017 and 2018 (Pixel 2 & 3) are my favorites.

This beach one is from 2017.
Once you have installed the apks of the live wallpapers they will show up and be available in Google’s wallpapers app, unfortunately you can’t set them as a lockscreen because of miui.
When i set it on mine it stutters. Can you help?
Thanks. Looks and works great.
Which phone and Android version are you on. They offer two different links one for all devices and one for arm64 only, experiment with both and see if you get better results (uninstall one before installing the other). See if restarting the phone helps. I’ve gotten these to work great on Redmi Note 5 & 7, Mi 9T & 9T Pro, Nexus 6P.
I m on redimi note 7 pro.
I tried live wallpaper on lockscreen but when I wanted to switch camera to 4k it froze. Only changing it back to normal wallpaper helped. 🤷🏼♂️
Was wondering about this, too.
You can Set Live Wallpapers also at Lockscreen MIUI 11 Xiaomi Mi9T Pro
I have a Video as Lockscreen
I’m using Live Wallpaper from a chinese theme for a while now, and I must say there isn’t a noticable drop in battery life. I use my phone quite heavily( lots of photo and video taking, also reddit and other game/music apps) in a day, so I cannot say for sure the actual percentage. But on a day when I let my phone rest, by the end of the day, the battery only drop to 80-90%, depend on usage.
On the battery usage stat, it said com.miui.miwallpaper only use 0.95% of battery
P/s: I’m using Note 7 64gb
What about battery life?
Actually you can do it on lockscreen, there’s a workaround. I have the exact same beach on my lockscreen, animated. You have to find a “moving” lockscreen wallpaper from the themes app, then it works. If I recall correctly, no need to do anything else.
Likely anecdotal but I have been running a live wallpaper on my OP7 with this same method for about a month. I have noticed at max an additional 5% draw over a 12 hour day.
I’ve been using these for years, in my experience there is little to no difference in battery performance. Since these are a port of the official Pixel Wallpapers; they seem to be very optimized to not drain battery.
Didn’t understand the procedure.. Can you explain it other way pls?
Document no longer available to download im getting
If you are rooted:
Lower-end and mid-range Xiaomi phones have the line
debug.sf.latch_unsignaled=1
in the build.prop. Even after doing research, I’m quite unsure about what this is supposed to do, but in practice, it makes the UI smoother when enabled, but certain animations may time out *(on custom ROMs, it’s usually the app transition animation when clicking on a notification)*. Live wallpapers stutter with this on though.
*I have a theory that it may be “latching unlatched frames together”, basically forcing UI animations to never drop frames. (?)*
Turning this off results in smooth live wallpapers and overall more consistency in terms of UI animation timings (default behavior of Android), but frame drops are more prominent now. Live wallpapers may cause even more dropped frames.
I use HavocOS 3.1 on my Redmi Note 5 Pro, and turning this prop off made the live wallpapers not drop any frames, and the Android 10 gestures remain just as smooth as before, while I notice a few dropped frames here-and-there when dropping down the notification shade.
Also, with the prop on, screen recording drops no frames and the UI remains smooth, but with the prop off, the phone always lags when the live wallpaper is visible. It’s smooth when inside an app, not showing the live wallpaper.

I have also been using the Pixel Live wallpapers since the Redmi Note 4 and I’ve gotten 11 hours of SoT back then, with the Lagos live wallpaper.
On my Redmi Note 5 Pro, I achieve 8 hours of SoT just fine even with the live wallpapers.
These weren’t on MIUI, but I would assume it’s the same on MIUI as well.
Pixel phones can also achieve 8 hours of SoT with a smaller battery and the live wallpapers, so they’re optimized really well.
As I understood it, you launch the themes app, download any live wallpaper and set it as Lockscreen, then change to the pixel live wp and it’ll work
My battery took a big hit using this while I was running on the newest update from Xiaomi. Other than that had no problems.
I’m thinking about giving another shot on Android 10 update, maybe, maybe.
Thank you 🙂
You sure it wasn’t just something else in the update? I’ve had my Mi 9T Pro on Android 9 and 10, the battery was not effected.
I wasn’t clear enough, I’m sorry. I tried this when I was on Android 9 (running the latest update from Xiaomi) and my battery life got a noticeable hit. I really liked it and I’ll try it again on the latest update (Android 10).
I’ve tried to find something on the Xiaomi Store or how they call it but I was pretty disappointed (having an app for themes, wallpapers icons and whatnot and not having some decent live wallpapers…).
Exactly, sorry for being late
Ok it works but I installed it twice – 1 link for all devices and the second one if the first link with APK doesnt work. I cant find any APK file in my manager to unistall the first apk which I installed. While I was installing the second one it asked me if I want to upgrade the first one APK. I clicked yes (I got installed the first APK before) Does it affect my smartphone? Mi note 3
There are multiple download options and mirrors, try clicking on the Google drive link
what launcher is this?
It works on my mi note 3. I have a question. Where can I get this time, weather and data widget which is on your screen
cant they just be extracted or they are not videos?
Poco launcher, the widgets are from google: at a glance & search
Same on the CC9
Can you explain better? I’ve been trying to set live wallpapers
Hehe it took me like 3-4 hours to find a solution. Didn’t work on May previous honor 8. Current phone is mi9t pro. First download the pixel live wallpapers 2017 for the animated wave wallpaper, you can find APK at xda developers forum. Enable apps from unknown source. Then download Google’s wallpaper app. Then you go to the miui’s own themes app (my phone has one, EU rom). Go to wallpapers, I used “science fiction world”. It made me take a video capture of it for the wallpaper. Set the wallpaper you’ve just made for both home and lock screen. Then go to the Google wallpaper app. You’ll find “calming coastline, Lagos”. Set for both. Should work, worked for me in October. But I have to also say I didn’t receive the android 10 update yet, and I’m on miui 10.
I’ve been searching for days. Hope this works thanks!!!
Fuck yeah, it worked great! Thanks
Cool, works well on home and lock on Mi A1
Works for me. MIUI 11. Android 10. Thanks!
Amazing to hear that, you’re welcome 🙂
So I won’t have any issues in near future, good to hear that 🙂
I am not rooted
All of them said the same for me, not sure why
The beauty of stock android
Doesn’t work on my Redmi Note 5 pro. Lockscreen doesn’t change from stock MIUI. I’m on MIUI 11 and Android 10.
If you didn’t try, try uninstalling the apk and Google wallpapers app. Then do all in the order of:
– themes app, live wallpaper.
– install apk
– install wallpaper app
then set live wallpaper. Where did you source the all from? Mine is Pranav Pandey’s, sourced from xda developers. There is also options for 32 and 64 bit phones. If they all don’t work, I’m not such an expert to be able to think of a solution, rather an enthusiastic but still basic user
I figured it out. I had to use a video for both main and lock screen as live wallpaper. Then I chose pixel ones as both, and it worked.
Thanks for your reply though. Much appreciated.
How?
I have a xiaomi device and the live wallpapers are really good and well optimised.. it was a joy to use. Honestly ♥️😁. Oh and I’m on MIUI 12 by the way.
