I guess it’s more of a “hey check out this cool thingy” than a review. Personally I’d wait for GSM arena to review it or at least Mrwhostheboss. But I did enjoy Linus’s video too tho.
I love Linus, but his Xiaomi reviews have always been sarcastic and distasteful. He seems to have a grudge against the company and he seems to insult features and accessories which people like???
I really hope he can improve his attitude towards Xiaomi.
Maaaaan I hated watching that. That was like reading a yelp review just non stop back handed insults and nastiness about things that don’t actually deserve it
Dude has no clue about smartphones.its painful to watch his smartphone reviews .lol
Linus was pretty cranky in this video. Usually he is pretty chill.
Loveed watching him conflicted, literally nitpicking so he doesn’t have to accept they did a good job.
I’ve never watched this dickstick before but it was like watching a manchild have a tantrum cos he hadn’t had his juicebox
I don’t get why people like him. Everything I have seen until know make me think he is just a jerk.
Im starting to believe that “unboxings” (outside of computer stuff) not his thing, even though he is kind of a jerk towards Xiaomi.
I like him and all but he needs to improve
It’s not a review. ShortCircuit is meant to be short showcases and unboxings of products.
Although I slightly agree with other redditors here that Linus is a bit condescending towards Xiaomi
I think it’s quite a solid phone. No high end but still sweet.
I would rather watch more serious channels. This guy is… You know like a sassy 10 year old children making a review.
Yeah but also – they also “at that level” understand metrics enough to understand that “smacking things on tables” equals views …. They know what sells clicks they know what generates comments they know what bumps them up in the algorithm…
I actually like Lew – but when iPhone came out with the iPhone SE 2020 and he made the “positive” and “negative” sides of the reviews, it was part an experiment to do positive and negative but it was also a bit of a temper tantrum because he wants apple and other companies to send him review units for testing instead of him paying for them out of his own pocket…
….which begs the question of “are YouTube reviewers as honest as they say they are” … I think Frankie tech is trustworthy, I think TechUtopia is trustworthy.. Ben Lim from Ben’s gadget reviews is probably my favourite… He even reviews from the perspective as a tech reviewer, but also makes note of “will it matter in real life situations.
. Some others though I don’t know if I can trust.
lol he throws lots of boxes on the floor[. even one with the phone still inside of it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxxfvGCqkbI)
Brand doesnt matter.
removing the box cleans up his desk for the shots.
which part of it is sarcastic and distasteful? most of the video he has been complimenting xiaomi on what they were able to do on the phone.
praising the nice fit/finish, dual sim, easy software setup, 144hz and cool hz simulation, decent 108mp photos in sunlight + good 8k video, and good screen even in direct sunlight.
he didnt like the speakers though. and he is right about the IR blaster. a lot of devices are not supported in the apps, it makes it irrelevant sometimes.
his brand is dropping and throwing stuff
To those who didn’t watch… DON’T I literally hated his video unless it’s an Apple or Samsung he doesn’t really care he’s always like criticizing and makes sure he gives a overall bad opinion on the product somehow adding to the shitty stigma that “Chinese” phones are crap- tbh which it isn’t. I’ve seen a lot of these YT “influencers” who seem to be paid actors of Apple & Samsung; it is a phone made for the common man not the 1% and not everyone is as lucky as this bloke to buy the high-end stuff.. which is something these youtubers will never understand
I wish he tested the Mi 10 Pro instead. Since that phone is their actual flagship from this year. Among the best speakers ever on a phone, along with great cameras, display, etc.
Of all the things in the world.. you found THIS sarcastic video to watch with your girlfriend? Idk even my friend is a huge fanboy while I don’t even understand the basic of computer stuff and he’s pretty sarcastic at anything made in China or simple disregard for anything which isn’t expensive
Why does he owe respect to a box and/or brand ? It’s a mobile phone from a mobile phone company. I think it’s going too far when you start thinking brands deserve respect.
He never did this in a PC/Laptop review. I’m kind of surprised seeing Linus being so different in his phone reviews
Linus tries too hard to be edgy and/or funny most of the time. I can’t stand him.
The comment about the case was the worst thing he could have said, you buy an 1300 dollars phone that doesn’t come with a case and he complains about a free one in a cheap phone
So you mean we are not allowed to show appreciate towards a company for their good service? Like as of lately, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE came out, people are going crazy over it. Some even going as far as fanboying over it rather than the One Plus 8T(with all due reasons)
Absolutely!!! On point there mate! I and my mom use Xiaomi phones and trust me they’re really good! At least from an reliability perspective.. I don’t know what you use but in general; they don’t deserve that hate.
I mean, I don’t believe a reviewer should not be biased. I just want that bias stated. As for him, I don’t think he takes his smartphone reviews as serious as his computer reviews.
Mrwhosethebose all the way cause’ he is organised with his videos. First he introduces the phone, then he states it’s features, then he goes on to prompt the viewers to subscribe with a unique adjective, then states what it lacks/what can be improved and finally topping it off with his opinion. I like it. But the only problem is, he only really reviews phones that really stand out. For example, he might not review this phone as this could be close to the Mi 10 Ultra which he reviewd….
Yea, I always felt their cases were pretty decent.
Everyone can do whatever they want but I find it somewhat ridiculous to complain against Linus because he is not showing the respect to hardware that some people thinks it deserves. For what it is worth, I am a shareholder (albeit a small one) and was a fan of them early on. I don’t have anything against xiaomi but I can hardly blame Linus for putting Xiaomi with all the other phone manufacturers. Probably a misguided opinion in my view but I won’t go as far as saying he needs to show it any respect.
To be fair, I watched the video and I think he did good. There was no box yeeting, no trash talking about controversy surrounding the company or anything. He even acknowledged the 1080p FHD panel. And also, maybe I might have used the wrong terminology. What I might have meant was credits. You know, like “Props to this company for making this hardware at this price when other companies barely do this”
Now, I am no fanboy, but I do think that Xiaomi kinda’ has not turned into the tyrant that they have swore to destroy like the One Plus. Also, things like Mi Mix Alpha in which they made a concept smartphone and even went with making it public kinda’ makes me think they do like to do experiments and push risks regardless of the consequences.
Tech tablets is good too!!! And it’s also a bonus that he lives in Spain, so his camera tests are useful and full of natural colour
Exactly!, My mom’s sister gave my grandma a iPhone 6S+ but guess what I never updated the iOS due the same EXACT reason of them sneaking bugs so you spend on a new battery on every update, and yes even without the update the battery just flows down like a tap from 100 – 80% then slows down but it still kinda works down fast. iOS is good but it isn’t fun as android/ MIUI (Xiaomi OS-based on android) and the third party stuff is where I love it. You don’t need to shell out 30-40$ every month for premium subscription and all that stuff. And the only thing I hate is even when they rob your wallet in broad daylight still; fanboys are fanboys no matter what. They just go bat-sh*t crazy on any new product for which you can buy a car lol:).
See…, owning an Apple product is not a crime, (it’s not my money afterall) but for someone who doesn’t come from a rich family; my stomach burns when someone spends a 1000$ on a phone (in my country it’s like a 100,000).
Regardless; you’re right 3-3.5 years + is the maximum amount of time you should own a single phone by then it would almost be half- obsolete; I bought a Xiaomi (around 180$) and trust me even after 3+ years it didn’t lose it’s shine, though it’s a entry- level phone it works good and hasn’t slowed or hanged up even once.. and the immense value for money is what I love. The Mi10 Ultra / Mi10T (coming in a few days) is probably available in the UK. I heard their sales in European markets are going well they even launched a E-scooter lol!
It was nice talking to you, gentleman 🙂
Stay safe
💜
he’s quite harsh with less popular brands and chinese products even exclusive china pc parts as long it advertised from him its good people will get curious
and you cant blame him he’s always first in top of line gadgets
people like him because hes straight forward and true to what he see and think. not to sugarcoat because a brand sponsored him. hell he even diss samsung apple and well knowed brands even tesla
you sure about that? how about when he diss lg gram even trying to bend it? how about the wall mart pc review and the razer laptop?
how about the diss of samsung? apple? tesla?
are you sure you watch his videos?
Funny how the fanboys are on fire. After using an A1 and a Mix3 I lost the hype for this brand. Their software support is just a big mess. There’s a lot you can criticize Xiaomi for. I think it’s good if you are critical. Especially if you see that other brands got a way better in their software support.
> threw that box away off the table
I suppose this was his only video you have watched so far, right?
Because it is not an LTT video, it is ShortCircuit, aka LTTUnboxings
Uhm… you are watching a wrong channel
Because it is unboxing, not a review. Shortcircuit vs LTT. And can you really blame him? His past experiences were quite bad…
I watched the video right now and I don’t see the issue people have with this video… What, the case and box on the floor? Really??
The only thing I can say to your entire comment:
K.
That’s why his channel is called Linus Drops Tips.
He frequently drops random things.
He even droped a brand new Razer laptop the moment he revealed it at LTX Expo
the one that came with the mi 10t pro is definitely good enough to be used, the one with mi8 was way to shabby and the phone would easily fall out
