I don’t think it’s as bad on my end (mi9t) but the new update did definitely make gestures clunkier for some reason. Honestly, i like the hardware but my next phone purchase is probably gonna be something with a better software experience, preferably stock android. though i could probably root it…
Perhaps it has something to do with blur settings? “Home screen / Blur app previews” or “Enable Blurs” in Deveoper ptions?
The only issue I have faced is while editing contact name, I cannot add space and cannot move cursor to desired letter, the cursor always stays at the end.
I fucking hate miui 12. All apps getting slower and stutter on scrolling. Battery is draining faster, ram is being used 90% even on idle while in miui 11 it used to be only 60-65%. Thinking of putting PE instead. My advice is to not update miui 11
Yeah.. either pixel or google
This has been happening on most Mi phones sooner or later. In our house we have Redmi 4,5,6 and even 9 and every time they get an update they get slower. They slow the phone down only slightly so a user gets used to it and just thinks a few years later that “hey my phone is slow now time to upgrade” when the phone is still fast they are faking it to be slow.
The 5 is so slow on the latest update that you even forget how fast it was to begin with and think its a shit phone.
I installed a Miui 9.6 rom on it and suddenly its as fast as a new Redmi phone and the battery time has increased by 30% which is shocking.
Weird because miui 12 runs much better on my 9tpro than 11 did. Love 12 tbh.
Miui used to suck up my battery and Bluetooth audio sync never worked so my airpods got stuck at 50% volume so I changed to lineage os and quite a few problems caused by miui got fixed
What Launcher is this poco or something else?
The amount of issues that have popped up on a wide range of devices have made me not only not consider xiaomi phones as a good recommendation but also not consider xiaomi phones for personal use either.
I have owned a Mi9 and I liked the device a lot but its battery life was just horrible at best and within 2 weeks of use it has gotten ghost touch issues that quickly became severe enough that I just had to return the device (hard reset did nothing, soft reset did nothing and I remember testing more things out before considering getting my money back).
Hate a company like Samsung all you want but they are consistent in offering good usable devices with minimal issues that tend to get resolved rather quickly. Which is not something Xiaomi seems to be doing as they are dishing out a ton of devices and updates are often slow. Even China has issues with updates.
I have gotten back then an S10+ Snapdragon variant. Not as snappy as the Mi9 (marginal differences really, I only noticed them because I pay proper attention) but a better camera experience and I have had no issues. Even battery life is stellar. And I still had the SD855 performance in apps and games. And I have seen countless people have issues with their Xiaomi devices on this sub and on other subs as well. I wanted to get the Mi10 Ultra but then I found out that it’s China only and then I found out that the camera experience, albeit saying it’s amazing, lacks seriously. It even made me question DXO Mark as they stated it’s spectacular and the best available today. It couldn’t have been further away from the truth to be completely honest.
So do I 👍 I didn’t have problems with Miui 11, be t I really like Miui 12 because of smoothness and some new features 🙂
Seems like it’s the system forgetting to unblur the background when all apps have been killed / swiped off
Its not the first 1-2 updates that will make it slow, those are actually the good ones. The 9.6 I installed on the Note 5 is also an update and not its stock rom. Its the following ones which significantly slow down the phone.
Its because they really optimize the first updates on these phones as they are improvements over the stock rom and also it’s first updates with bug fixes.
The problem arises when they launch 3-4 new phones which takes them about 1.5 years and they start focusing on them. Then you get a half arsed Miui update on your older model which they didn’t bother optimizing nor will they optimize again. Those updates are optimized for those newly launched models and if you have a problem good luck. Enjoy the lag and battery drain.
Just an example the Mi Pad with its last update from Xiaomi cannot even play Youtube videos on the Youtube official app at 1080p. Its been like this for more than a year and they wont ever fix it. On the Redmi 5 the latest update even lags opening the keyboard or chrome and its been like this for more than 6 months at least.
Most people don’t even realize how much their phones have slown down. I challenge you to go back 1 or 2 versions of MIUI if you have an Mi phone that is at least 1.5 years old.
I have nearly all phones of the Redmi note series, Mi pad and thankfully I’m tech savy so now I’ve started reverting all of them to a better older Miui version suited to them.
Some don’t get a choice. I went to bed one night, woke up and mine auto-updated to MIUI 12.0.1 stable global.
That being said, I’m not unhappy with it. No noticeable power changes or stutters in the UI.
Battery life sucks
I love MIUI12 on my Mi 9T Pro. Genuinely feels faster than MIUI11 (personal opinion). Only gripe I have with it is the battery drain. I get around 4 hrs SOT with 4G+,location, and Bluetooth for my amazfit verge lite
It was one ui theme from themes app
Same, I use nova launcher and I am not getting back to the stock one.
Blokada definitely improved my experience with the battery
NEVER use the super wallpapers. I repeat, NEVER. That thing slows down your phone more than Kaspersky in windows XP.
Edit: I wrote live instead of super.
As for auto updating, it can be turned off, idk if i manually enabled it in my phone.
Don’t mix up root and bootloader unlock. You are free to install any available AOSP-based rom if you have your bootloader unlocked, and you don’t have to root it.
If Xiaomi had actually *tested* the devices before releasing some update, it would have been better… maybe better than OneUI to say the least.
oops, my bad, not familiar with that. i don’t really feel comfortable doing it on a phone i’m using, especially since i have no experience with it. I do like the phone, despite the issues.
It’s called “Planned Obsolescence”, how can you even think that a phone with a sd 855 + 6/8 GB RAM that just were launch a year will perform bad.
There are not “Hardware limitations”, there is just an enterprise pushing customers to keep buying their products, otherwise, everyone Will keep their for 3,4, 5 years, just because we already reach the no major performance hardware improvement point.
10 years ago, with sd855 performance + 6/8 gb ram, you were even able to Design an entire car/building/ or anything you may being working on, so, “hardware limitations” really no longer exist.
In my case every time I go to the home screen the launcher reloads, I wouldn’t consider xiaomi phones anymore, the software is terrible.
I already do that, now i’m using the Pixel Experience ROM in the Mi 9T, and it’s like a new phone, the battery life is too much better than MIUI, you should test the ROM in your phone
I love miui but i havent tested miui 12. seems I willcnever update my pocophone 😂
Agile project methodology 🤷♂️
How do you use Blokada? You just activate it or do you need to do something more?
Definitely cannot confirm. Nova launcher works flawlessly on my 9t. Maybe give Xiaomi.eu a try?
Poco launcher with One UI icon pack
I haven’t had any issues with the super wallpapers besides slightly higher battery drain
No update for me 🙁
Xiaomi is more keen on releasing a new model every week or so than working on the real shit. Every new devices are facing lot of UI inconsistencies, bugs, lagged user experience.
On the other hand companies like Apple releases 1 model every year or so with stabilized OS, best phone company for a reason.
Yeah the screen recorder is buggy. That’s causing the issue. It’s not the miui update. It’s the package update we got of recorder app a few days back.
One UI icon pack
Yes, you install it an then go to ad-blocking> host list > scroll all the way to the bottom, you’ll find Xiaomi Blocker. I also use cloudflare 1.1.1.1 DNS. Blokada acts like a VPN, you should also lock the app so it doesn’t get stopped. Simple as that!
I agree with you. They also play with battery life. When i move back to older miui versions battery life is far better.
I cant find ad-blocking
Try the button at the bottom
Go to Dermatologist.
Did u use Google play version or something else?
I downloaded it from the Fdroid store, but I think the google play version is the same
I see. I heard the Google store version is merely a DNS switcher n has no ads filter function
