Got rejected by someone I liked today so I went to the store and impulsively bought myself a 128GB Carbon Black Mi 9T Pro.
I’m liking the device a lot so far and it’s so much faster and sexier than my 3 y/o Xperia XZ. What should I do next though? I’m thinking of unlocking the bootloader first and root this babe so I can uninstall them bloaties and install GCAM (I’m well aware of the waiting period).
I’m getting the same vibe RN as the first time I had with my old Google Nexus 5 TBH, which is a good thing. Any recommendations / tips for a new Xiaomi pleb like me?
😛
Welcome to the dark side 😉
You don’t need an unlocked bootloader for uninstalling the bloatware. You could try out “Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tool”
Also you don’t need to unlock bootloader/root to install gcam 😉
Camera 2 API is already enabled

My favourite is the xtreme port
Also the newest urnyx looks also very good! (Works with Android 9+)
The reason i like both is because of the sharpness setting, which i feel the xtreme is better at (can get unrealisticly sharp), but urnyx seems much more usable and up to date
Honestly, once I’ve made my first Xiaomi purchase with a Mi 6 a while back, it was hard not to become a believer. I got my 256GB K20 pro a week ago. And I’ve never had such smooth performance, and such a sexy, uninterrupted screen.
go through the settings one by one, you will find out alot of neat features
Happily, Xiaomi phones are babe magnets. The rejector will soon regret their rejecting!
Actually, I kid. Xiaomi phones are in no way babe magnets. But still, you’ve got an awesome phone. 🙂
I suggest tapping ‘miui version’ in the settings a bunch of times to unlock developer settings, there’s some handy tools in there you might like to play with. Personally, I like shortening the animations to 0.5 speed
Maybe you should try xiaomi.eu , it’s still miui but without the bloat that it has officially
I have a Mi A3 and it doesn’t include a recorder. Google just release a recorder app, but not compatible. Do you guys have any good alternatives?
I recommend Havoc-OS if you want tons of features, or Pixel Experience if you want a Pixel-like OS.
I’m the Havoc maintainer, AMA.
Dude… I was laughing when i saw you post cause im Just going through the SAME THING hahaha… Got dumped by my gf… Bought a xiaomi mi 9 by impulse and im loving my new toy… Hope you get thru this fast Man… I Hope i get better from the break up soon asweel.
Greetinz from Brazil.
no, every xiaomi eu is a custom rom. Tons of bugs on devices they dont have, idk about mi 9T pro version, but my redmi device rom has tons of bugs in it makes it not usable.
No problem dude 😘
She made the wrong decision. You made the right decision.
del5eted.
0 is life 😀
Also, disable the Ad engine. please.
Install Xiaomi.eu ROM or Russian MiRoom. Both of them are MIUI without bloatware, MiRoom comes with Magisk preinstalled.
Eis won’t work.
I’d suggest you to install Urnyx gcam as it’s more tuned now
What kind of redmi you got? I just ordered a redmi 8 for my God mother I guess you could call her lol but I saw good things about it just wanna know more
I had the same plans with my mi 9t 4 months ago too and still on miui. J honestly don’t miss anything but an app drawer and that is said to come with an update quite soon. Granted I have installed some Google apps when I didn’t like the mi ones but all in all it is better than Samsung’s one ui (full of bloatware). It is also great that I will allways have the option to flash.
Is the FOD still shit on AOSP ROMs?
It’s fine for me
Welcome. Here is your cape, goat’s horn, and sacrificial axe.
Eis only really works with 30 fps.
It will be babe magnet if u have mi mix alpha, cuz alpha.
yes
edit – the community doesnt own all the devices, so the ones they don’t own is really bug
There’s no better way to fullfill the void in your heart than to impulsively purchase a Xiaomi device.
yes
I have a similar phone (K20 pro) the problem is that now I have limited my options for the future.. I don’t necesssarily need to buy a Xiaomi in the future, I bought this in china in June – but people outside of China that wanted the global rom needed to wait until fall to get one, so that’s one annoying thing about Xiaomi – but I digress.. the main problem is that I have limited my future options because now there is no way in hell I could use a phone with a curved edge – but if the phone doesn’t have a curved edged, there’s a good chance of it not being a flagship phone… I mean K20 pro isn’t really a flagship either because it is definitely lacking in some areas like (night mode… which doesn’t do much) but, It’s “almost a flagship” and that’s good enough for me.
Happy cake day lol
oh greetings from malaysia too! Mine is a Pocophone that i got in february and its goodd
As if Google and Facebook doesn’t do that already…
Install the pixel experience rom!
What do you suggest as best settings for Urnyx 1.5? Also, when I select ultrawide camera it crashes after I take a photo, is it the same for you guys?
>Got rejected by someone I liked today so I went to the store and impulsively bought myself a 128GB Carbon Black Mi 9T Pro.
There’s something very relatable about this
Honestly, just make sure to disable “recommended content” in most of the Xiaomi apps and you’re mostly there. I came from multiple Nexus and Sony phones like you and like clean software but I not only love MIUI but find a few of their proprietary apps/ feature nice as well. The gestures are second to none on smartphones in my opinion. I think I may have uninstalled an app or two that came with it and disabled any of the cleaner/gaming software crap (and a setting I found to disable the shortcuts in the recent apps menu) but never felt the need to remove too much other stuff.
Thankfully Xiaomi has good support for third-party software generally and if you want Xiaomi.eu is a popular alternative but for me stock MIUI is very clean and nothing gets in my way overall. Only minor gripe is I have to make sure to turn off battery saving/ turn on notifications for apps but having apps I dont choose to not send me floating/toast or lock screen notifications is actually kind of nice, and making sure to turn off battery saver for common apps isnt too much of a pain.
Enjoy your new device, I absolutely love my Mi Mix 3 and am glad I found a manufacturer with good hardware and good updates as well as an attractive price. Other than those few tips I’d just say welcome to the community!
Which apps are considered bloatware?
I just joined the dark side also 😬. Pardon my ignorance but is xiaomi.eu the default rom for Europe phones ? I bought mine in Europe
GCam doesn’t require rooting, though. Just dl and install.
No, xiaomi.eu is a custom ROM that is based on miui China but without the bloat ware and with Google services.
European phones come with global version miui, still come with bloat ware but with Google services installed.
Your iPhone is manufactured in China, too.
Does Havoc OS have ota? 😅
Following
where do i go, what do i get and how do i do? lol, have Mi Max 3.
Thanks for any info 🙂
Thank you for the reply. I just saw that TWR… Just was updated for the 8T so I think that’s the first step correct?
If yours is an MTK model I think they dropped support for it on Xiaomi.EU, if not, first thing to do is to unlock bootloader, then install recovery (TWRP or OrangeFox, the one that is again for your phone, check XDA) and then you can install the ROM you want.
Just install the regular adb tools and run the command “adb shell pm uninstall –user 0 com.package.name” to uninstall any app.
I put sharpness at max & IMX586 white ballance
Everything is fine on my end.
Saying this in a thread where the maintainer of Havoc OS which supports microG by default has posted…
For some reason it doesnt work on my phone (Mi 9T)
Man I love havoc just missing the floating miui windows
I like. Glory to China!
Man i love havoc just missing the floating miui windows of game booster and some other miui features
you can check the xda forums for the device, that should help you get a brief review about the phone. you can also see the development of that phone if you are willing to flash custom rom. I have a redmi 5, and theres a whole telegram channel of my device where device’s trees, early builds are published and stuff, overall its in great development except for xiaomi eu roms but apart from that, the support on my device is really great that i dont need to change this device, for now.
There is a filter in the Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tool, so any app listed is supposedely safe to remove. Just keep the ones you use.
Anyone have recommended ROM do pocophone F1….
I’m well behaved. China please note my previous reply!
sorry not well versed in 9T world, but does 9T pro roms work on regular 9T?
Thanks! I might be able to travel to another canton to visit my family, next year!
Pretty big cult, 4th phone producer in the world. When your cult gets big enough its granted “religion” status.
Does the motorized camera have a “slide back in” feature when it realizes a drop just like the One Plus 7T Pro?
…and reddit.
I use the LineageOS one.

I have a Mi Pad 4 Plus.
I’m looking to install xiaomi.eu’s latest stable rom which is 10.3.2 but I wanted to try Havoc OS. Will havoc OS give me better battery life than stock rom or xiaomi.eu rom?
How likely is Havoc-OS going to be developed for the forthcoming Mi 10 Pro, do you think ?
I’ve found that the battery drains faster using pixel experience. Also it lacks a lot of the features that MIUI has.
No they don’t.
Then I will consider the phone a first priority.
