Did you upgrade from an AMOLED phone? That’s my only concern since I’m upgrading from the OnePlus 3.
I’m coming from a 2.5 year old Redmi Note 3 Pro.
Hi hongkong
[Hardware info](https://i.imgur.com/ActTwBT.png)
LCD panel is Tianma, front camera is Samsung. No idea what front aux is…face unlocking?
[Widevine L3](https://i.imgur.com/2dgtZzP.png)
as expected…but still too bad.
Going to test anti-rollback and bootloader unlocking if I can find fastboot drivers.
What do you think about it on the first glance? Did the cheap out on the body or something? How’s the quality?
Hong Kong, bought it in store.
Totally not what I was expecting. I was expecting a glossy, pasticky feeling phone. This feels really nice in hand, I have the red version and it has an almost metallic sheen to it. Build quality is excellent as expected from Xiaomi.
My only concern is the thickness (8.8mm) with the plastic body/back. You said it feels great on your hand, in terms of build quality? What about the size/dimensions? Do you have large hands? Haha.
I have large hands, but not one-handed Mi Max 3 large haha.
Comparing it to the Note 5, I prefer that slightly more. Poco is thicc-er, but overall I think it feels good and definitely does not feel “cheap”.
Made my Note 3 feel like ancient technology haha.
Everything is faster. Apps launch faster, accessing files from my NAS is so much quicker, camera is actually usable. If you’re looking to upgrade from your kenzo, you won’t be disappointed.
any line ? got free screen protector ?
hey.Can u post a pic of the back of the phone… Is the red really red or Rose? They name it Rosso Red , So i was very confused. And Youtubers say the blue one looks better than the red. What do you think?
I’ll try in a bit. Imgur is having problems right now.
edit: [Color.](https://s8.postimg.cc/910sxj9dv/IMG_20180830_140539.jpg?dl=1) Compared them all in the store, they all look great to me. Went with red as I wanted something different from the typical black, grey or blue.
Thanks for replying!
Line was quite short. Pretty subdued launch I must say.
No free screen protector, had to pay for the tempered glass.
Does anyone know if you can buy different colour backs?
More comparison:

Hope it helped.
What makes widevine level 3 bad?
No 1080p Netflix.
Can you compare screens of both note 5 and f1? Is it more saturated than note 5? I like punchy colors.
You can get red, black, blue or the Kevlar version
I meant buy the backs on their own sorry
Well that’s pretty normal as far as Xiaomi and many other Chinese brands go.
It’s disappointing but not much you can do about.
Edit: still fucking hate this content locking system.
Oh. Thanks for the info.
On default settings for both, whites on the F1 is warmer and more natural than the Note 5 which is more bluish. Could be luck of the draw on the panels though.
Brightness and color are about the same to my eyes.
can u find me some chinese websites with international shipping where the official cases for poco are available.
I see, i order mine online 🙂
Holy crap TIL about such a thing.
What? That’s a downgrade.
I’ve always wondered but never had the occasion to try since my phone has level one – would visiting Netflix in Firefox with the Widevine plugin help at all? I heard they had allowed more resolution on non-win10Edge/Safari, but I’m not sure.
if you have a pair of Polarized sunglasses can you check if the screen is polarized at 90° like the mi A2?
(you shouldn’t be able to see the screen wearing the sunglasses and holding the phone vertically)
Can you see noticible ghosting or blurry text on the screen while scrolling? Like this

Already found a minor UI bug lol.
If you set Display size to “small” and hide the notch, [the dark part does not align with the notch.](https://s8.postimg.cc/5hjgl83p1/IMG_20180830_154343.jpg)
Poco reads reddit right?
There is some ghosting due to the 60Hz refresh rate but nowhere near as bad as your examples.
I’ll see if I can borrow a Galaxy S8 to capture the display in 60fps.
Sorry, don’t own a pair!
That’s the hidden engineering mode / CIT.
Keep tapping on the Kernel Version on the About Phone screen in the settings.
How much was it?
Sweet!

I’ve messaged someone at Xiaomi on the Poco side.
How much does it cost ?
I heard a reviewer say it’s polarized vertically
HKD 2799 for the 6/128 version.
Does google camera work without root? How are results with google camera
Depends what you value I guess.
I ordered mine 128gb/6gb black one, it should come next wednesday …
Coming from LG G3 , I reckon it will be a noticable upgrade, ay?
Hey, babaroga73, just a quick heads-up:
**noticable** is actually spelled **noticeable**. You can remember it by **remember the middle e**.
Have a nice day!

O yes.That Red looks awesome… I was confused by the name.Thank You ….
Thank you . I thought they include rosso bcoz its close to rose rather than red.
Good and how much for the 6/64 ?
Thanks for clearing it up for me.I think I would have to go for one plus 6 because of Amoled Panel.
iirc, 6/64 version of pocophone f1 doesn’t exist in official Mi Hong Kong stores?
I am trying to get the money for one uf
I think this version is available only in India
Please try gcam!!!
The lack of symmetry with the between the top and and the bottom corners is itching me. Is the a way to put rounded corners where hiding the notch. Or you need a 3rd party software?
No it’s not.
Wow. I’m looking to purchase this too. Coming from a 3 year old OnePlus 2 hehe
I remember when Motorola came out with their kevlar phone.
Im surprised this is still a thing
How is the display compared to the redmi note 3? Is there a huge difference between the 2?
Singapore Mi store only have the 6gb/64gb
They only sell the 6/128 here.
Huge difference, colors look better on the F1.
No such option. I also don’t like the large radii of the bottom corners.
I can try for you if you can point me to where to download gcam that might work.
Pocophone in Polish means “what for phone” continuing tradition of brand names that are awful in Polish.
Enjoy it 🙂 Don’t forget to give us a feedback
Very noticeable. Your G3’s display is higher res though, did you account for that?
How much for this version ?
Sure, keep the questions coming. 🙂
It is, but pretty low contrast ratio. It was terrible on auto-brightness and in sunny day light. And was too bright while reading in dark room on 0 brightness. I couldn’t care even if pixels were visible, if battery life is impacted. And it is.
The only thing i fear is if camera and audio (via BT) are up to task.
I was pondering about LG V30 for a bit, but made a choice to go Poco loco.
Could you post a photo of the phone with a notch disabled with normal display size? You shouldn’t be able to see where the “cut” is then, right?
> what for phone
Can’t beat Ford Kuga , which translated to serbian means “Plague”

My poco F1 booked on Flipkart arrived today. Haven’t had too much time through my working day but initial thoughts
\- setup was flawless from my mi max 2. The apps installation went much faster than I expected, SD845 work I guess
\-everything is lightning fast haven’t noticed any slowdowns
\- the size is quite a suprise, very easy to hold in the hand and accessible
\- this is the first phone I’ve used with gestures, love them, works very well for me
I’ve shot a few pictures around my house with the same pictures taken on a pixel xl for reference
[https://photos.app.goo.gl/5wfXLTKArGMZjwoQ9](https://photos.app.goo.gl/5wfXLTKArGMZjwoQ9)
I just checked again, any other setting besides default looks wrong. Large makes the black bar extend past the notch, small does the opposite. [Album here.](https://imgur.com/a/6HJY3cv)
Makes me think they don’t intend you change that setting. One thing I miss from my Note 3 running Pixel Experience, you can change that setting, essentially DPI, on the fly and make everything smaller for more screen real estate.
Hmm … it seems that icons on notification bar are getting a bit smaller and bigger too, which makes the edge go up or down a few pixels…
It shouldn’t affect notification bar size, imho.
Is there any other place , like in accessibillity or fonts, where you can change fontsize systemwise ?
I’m very happy to hear that. I feared that it woudn’t be “a tight fit” between front and back.
2799 Hong Kong Dollars from Xiaomi themselves
Thx!
I’d argue that it is, as OP’s software is better and has a much better camera, as well as an AMOLED display.
Does this phone have the bands to work in Canada?
Good to hear!
449 sgd
Yes it does, It comes with Enabled Camera 2 Api.
So just install G Cam and enjoy life.
How’s the notch? Does it cut away all the notification icons?
The worst, well known offender is not a phone brand though, it’s OSRAM, which literally is vulgar for “I’ll shit all over”.
IR port?
> OSRAM
Ahahaha!
Oh no !! I always set to small wtf !
The cameras are easily comparable and I find that samples from the Poco are warmer and more saturated and only seem to struggle in the dark.
Wow, the camera’s quite decent for a $300 phone
Just got mine today, coming from a OP3T, and the display was a major concern for me but I’m pleasantly surprised. Its a very nice display. You won’t feel a huge difference.
Another recent one, I was looking for professional grade laptop to buy, and there’s hybrid series from HP branded Z-book, innocent enough eh? The thing is, zbok in polish means “a deviant”, sexual one. I can’t walk around with something like that….
Who the hell has Max 3 1-H large hands lmao?
Interesting
\*cries in Argentinian\* That phone is being sold by only one person here and at almost $800…Argentinian sellers are all pieces of freaking garbage…
Force closes. :/
That is accessibility one. They do get bigger, hard to see but when set to large the clock gets partially obscured by the notch.
There is a text size option in display settings, but that only affects font size; everything else stays the UI stays the same i.e. DPI doesn’t seem to change.
Model being sold in HK supports these bands:
GSM B2/B3/B5/B8
WCDMA B1/B2/B5/B8
FDD-LTE B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20
TDD-LTE B38/B40/B41(120MHz)

Yes.
is your camera oke ?
in Indonesia we have some problem with camera.
Wait, OSRAM means the same thing in polish and serbian? Osram dobro!
Nowhere near stock, it’s still MIUI under the hood.
Hard to say, it depends on your needs. If the lack of NFC, non-AMOLED screen and plastic build doesn’t bother you then there’s no better bang for the buck phone out right now.
Shaq
Can you explain more? What is the problem?
Is the Indian model made in India? Mine is made in China.
I think so. Haven’t seen any other icon yet. I even enabled show connection speed and it’s only visible if you drag the notifications down. :/
Me too got from mi site,I am from India
I think Ill be selling my Mi Mix 1 for this one. This is so enticing with those awesome specs for that price!
I’d tell you to “get a pair then”, but it just doesn’t seem right.
yes, it is made in India
Is that the Mi Mix 2S? On my phone’s screen I don’t notice anything crazy in particular.
Aaking because I’m considering buying it .
you can pirate 1080p netflix shows with peace of mind since you can’t watch them legally 0:)
edit: Are you as blown away as I am by the performance of this thing?
Wireless and storage speed is amazing for such an affordable phone. I’m downloading from youtube at [44 MB/s](https://i.imgur.com/WpoJV1z.png)…almost 4 times faster than my kenzo. I think this is faster than even my laptop’s wireless.
Under Additional Settings > Accessibility
Do u think it’s worth buying?
Would want one for Christmas
Any ghosting?
Yeah no Poco’s camera is hot crap compared to op6
What display panel does it have?
Tianma = ghosting issues
Post on en.miui.com forums. That will surely get a response.
Hey from.where did u order
No , Indian model
That’s a good question, I have a Redmi Note 5 pro and Oneplus 5T and while the Redmi display is more crisp it’s definitely blurry while scrolling. 5T costs almost 3 times as much as Note 5 but still it’s pretty noticeable.
Which screen?
Oh I do. Not only cause of that but also because the content rights holders one day had the idea that rooting your device is evil and locked their apps to non-rooted devices.
I know I could mess with Magisk and Safetynet but fuck them, I’m stealing content of anyone who’s acting like that – disabling ability to use their apps if you root, using hardware DRM, etc.
Hi, any chance you can test Damon PS2 on it?
From HK mi site
I’m not able to make out any ghosting
Have you tried Netflix on the phone? Just saw an article stating that Netflix can’t stream at HD on the Pocophone. Could you confirm?
To be honest, I don’t think I’ll keep the Poco. As my main phone, it’s either this or the pixel and it’s a no contest. I prefer the pixels software, reliability and camera.
As a backup, I have to choose this versus the mi Max 2. There’s just something about the mi Max that makes it very difficult for me to give up. I think it’s a combination of the screen size, the feel and build of the device, the performance and the battery life, is just the perfect device for browsing and media consumption
Any ghosting?
https://www.gsmarena.com/the_pocophone_f1_cant_stream_hd_video_from_netflix_hulu_or_amazon-news-33023.php
Works but a specific version only.
Yeah. I was the one who originally reported it on AndroidPure. It maxes out at 540p.
What about downloaded Netflix shows? Same as the streamed ones?
Also considering this, currently using 1+3
haha
I can confirm that it is polarised vertical.
I am coming from amoled displays and have a vertical phone holder in my car. You can not see the display while using polarised sunglasses
It depends on your priority. If the camera is very important for you, I’d go for the pixel. On every other parameter, I think the poco has the edge. It’s faster by quite a way, features like face unlock and the gesture are much better. I also think the poco will get software updates for longer (can’t imagine saying that for a pixel) as the pixel is not going to get updates behind Android pie.
How’s the alignment now?
Same here! MAJOR upgrade.
Have you purchased it yet? At this point in time I am doubting my decision in purchasing :/ the lack of notification icons at the top makes me feel really skeptical. Even though they have said they are almost done fixing it, the notch and unusual bezels seem like a killer.
Yeah, got it about 2 weeks back – the 6/128 version. I know how you feel, but I decided that the price alone was worth the gamble. No regrets so far, the notifications thing is pretty annoying, which I hope they’ll fix in abit. In a nutshell, the launcher doesn’t handle the notch particularly well. So it’ll be patched soon, hopefully. As for another known issue, the lack of battery percentage, you can just use a theme that shows it for you. Bezels notch aside, the phone is actually decently aesthetic. Go for it.
This might be to late, but how is the phone today?
I also have a Redmi note 3 that I use today, and I might buy the Poco F1, buuuut my main concern is the screen bleeding… Does your has any of that?😊
It’s been over a month and I’m still enjoying the phone a lot. Mine doesn’t have screen bleeding, imho that issue is way overblown.
Nice to hear! Which version do you have? The global version or the Indian version?
Yeah, people have talked about the screen bleeding that much worried me :/
Mine is Hong Kong global version made in China. I think screen bleed affects mostly made in India and Indonesia units.
