I’ve actually got quite a few now.
The water filter jug is great, the design is nice and it’s well built. The filters are cheap to replace.
The rice cooker is another favourite, being able to program it to make rice exactly how I want it is extremely handy.
The anti bacterial towels are well, towels. But they’re soft.
The water bottle is great for keeping tea hot.
The bedside lamp I use at night on a red hue, helps with sleeping.
The smart body composition scales seem accurate so far and measure more than my Fitbit ones did for 1/2 the price.
But the find I’m my impressed with is my 9t. It’s offering me an experience that is 90% as good as my P30 Pro at close to 1/3 the price.
I agree! I always stock up when I’m traveling.
When I’m in Hong Kong I always hit up their main store there then cross the border and visit the flagship store in Shenzhen. Surprisingly sometimes there are a few things that are sold only outside of China (and I’m not talking about phones with Google apps.). Sometimes I even end up buying one of their suitcases to bring back my loot in!
Because I currently live in the States, I’ve had to buy a few appliances (rice cooker, etc.) at their store in Taiwan due to voltage. Otherwise I can get most anything at any of their stores.
Visiting Asia usually means a trip to a Xiaomi store…
Do you have a link for the bedside lamp?
They have a nice niche as they are more expensive than generic Chinese products but much cheaper than Western, Korean, and Japanese products. To a person with Western-levels of income, the price difference barely matters but the increase in quality is definitely noticeable. I’m surprised they keep such a consistent experience across many different items when those items are made with other companies partnering with Xiaomi.
I recently discovered their stuff and am really enjoying all the different gadgets they produce.
rice cooker? time to google about it
Where is there a decent list of all the stuff they actually make?
hardware yes, software no.
Custom Roms: “Let us introduce ourselves”
for phones yeah, allthough they dont make it easy with wait times.
Home automation software has been pretty crap, they region lock their cameras. and it takes a lot of effort to integrate with other systems
You can skip the wait if you unlock it with an adb command.
The V1 bedside lamp is a BTE gateway too which could gather all your Bluetooth objects (thermometers, flower captor) . So you can control them remotely if you have a Mi Gateway.
The bluetooth earphones suck though
Mi.com (Chinese version)
Is it possible on some phones? It wasnt for mine at the time.
Still its not a simple solution.
Really i’d prefer xiaomi to leave the phone easily unlocked, and put a hologram security sticker over the phones port.
Yeah, I would also prefer something like that.
yeah.. the damn share price reflects that!!
Awesome thanks 👍
What’s with the share price, whys it so bad? Are xiaomi losing money.
Mi A2 is my first Xiaomi product. Not only is it well built, for $159 is simply amazing.
I’ve got the roborock vacuum and it’s been going great, it’s even vacuumed up water accidently with no issues. It vacuums at midday every single day.
[Here’s the stats so far.](https://i.imgur.com/ikwpX05.jpg)
Qcy are quite good for the price.
I should have bought qcy instead of the airdots, I regret that I bought it.
Can you recommend some? I might go for TWS headphones, since I am using Anker wireless headphones.
I don’t think it works on Xiaomi devices. If it was so easy everyone would not be whinning about unlock times.
Haylou GT1 is good too. (Xiaomi collaborate with Haylou to create this product)
I use the qcy t1. Sound is quite good from them but they aren’t faultless. Sometimes when adjusting the volume on my phone 1 of the buds will disconnect for a second and I’ve had 1 bud disconnect before and not reconnect til I put them back in the case and out again. So they aren’t faultless but the sound quality is good and they only cost $35 AUD. My friend bought a pair and is happy with them as well despite the small issues. Not a deal breaker for me because there is a 10 out of 10 chance I will lose them like all my headphones.
This is the exact reason they sell their phones for so cheap comparatively. Brand recognition is quite literally worth billions
No, Alfawise is far cheaper (as in less quality) stuff. Blitzwolf is their quality competition I think.
Wow they look cool too.
Would not recommend getting phones. They’ll not live more than a year without any problems.
Here they don’t replace it. They try to fix. Try to 😌.
There are a boatload of different models. Some are really budget,, some mid-range with a handful of smart home control, and some are Korean-rice-pressure cooker style that cost about $200.
But I like xiaomi rice cooker.perfect for me
That honestly doesn’t reflect my experience at all. I’ve been buying Xiaomi Smartphones since 2015 and my first one (Redmi Note 3) is still working without problems.
I tried 2 phones and both of them started to have some problems. I’ve never dropped both of them
I am looking at QS2’s, so I can take Anker’s to travelling and not to worry about lost headphones.
Can you tell what kind of problems and what phones they were?
I always spend my remaining rmb on xiaomi whenever leaving china. I’m amazed by the variety of their products, I was able to find something new everytime I visited a xiaomi store.
Not sure about the quality since I break all my gadgets all the time, but the price performance ratio is amazing.
From memory I have bought
Mi BT speaker
Mi Band 1, 2, 3 and I have 4 on order
Smart lights
Mi Bedside lamp
Mi Flower care
I’m sure there is other stuff but all the Xiaomi things I have bought have impressed me with the quality and attention to detail they have. I pulled the speaker out of a box after a year and it switched on and played for a solid 3 hours. The flower care I have lost somewhere about a year ago, I know I still have it somewhere cos it’s showing on bluetooth, how it’s managed to hold a bt connection for nearly a year is beyond me.
You can’t watch videos with QCY, as there is a lag in the audio.
Seriously? I was planning to buy it. Is there other options you recommend?
Wait till you check out the Mi Band 4. It’s amazing!
Hey, the 3 year old mi 5 in my hand wants you to know your wrong, and you should feel bad.
I’ve dropped it at least 30 times from hip to floor, it should by all rights be dead.
Not on any of their recent phones… The wait is impossible to avoid
I think taotronics is cheaper, no?
Using Mi A2… Impressive… Except battery
Using Mi TV pro totally great smart TV…
Want buy Redmi TV 70
Mi fan for a reason
How about its battery life… I’m getting 4 hrs SOT
Not for their other products though.
Selling at loss and selling with thin margins is not the same thing so get your facts straight people before spreading misinformation all over the internet.
Xiaomi CEO said that Xiaomi would never sell products with more than 5% margins on their hardware while other manufacturers like Samsung have margins as high as 30%.
Thats why Xiaomi price are more competitive. Not because they’re selling at loss, they’re a freaking profite company for crying out loud
On my mi A2 lite I had the “ghost touch” problem.
Well on my current device (mi 8 lite) everytime I unplug the earphones, it restarts. Tried 3 type c to 3.5mm adapters and a type c pair of earphones. It charges perfectly ( I’ve been gentle with plugging and plugging)
I started with powerbank like 4 years ago
That is really weird. The ghost touches are sadly a reality in many cheap displays and often only replacing the hardware will solve the issue.
I quickly googled the problem you’re having with the Mi8 lite and found mostly guides about how it’s a battery problem that needs to be replaced, which doesn’t sound right to me though, since you say it charges without any problems. In my personal experience any malfunction involving the ports involves lint buildup, so I’d recommend cleaning the USB C port carefully with Q-tips, toothpicks and compressed air if you can?
I have little time following up on this brand. What has caught my attention is that the president of Xiaomi said that they as a company do not have a representative expense in terms of advertising, this being the main reason why the costs of marketing the products is so accessible to most.
I was using Mi Band 1, 2 and still using Mi Band 3. Now I am using Redmi Note 5 Pro and one of their powebanks, and plan to use their phones in future(silly me thinking I will never go back to Android). I would love to use more of their products. I was planning to buy Redmi Dots, but reviews were not very good for it.
I tried cleaning it with compressed air.
I’m not sure if this is a problem or what, but when you suck air out of a hole, you can smell the battery.
>To a person with Western-levels of income, the price difference barely matters but the increase in quality is definitely noticeable
This is very true. I will never buy a xiaomi rice cooker. It’s $100 here. Sure it’s good, but i can get bigger capacity and from a local brand that’s quite reliable as well for $20. $80 is almost half of minimum monthly wage in my town and it’s not wise for us to spend that much just for a rice cooker
What’s wrong with redmi airdots? It looks quite good
had em for like a month and a few days and one of the earbuds stopped charging for no apparent reason, I don’t use them everyday. I tried everything to get them to work but no luck.
Oof that’s bad. Thanks. It’s so cheap and tbh the brand “redmi” separate it from other chinese brands. Too bad it’s not good and hurts the brand image
True, a lot of people also experienced this issue as well. Don’t bother buying one.
Get hailou gt1, its made by xiaomi for hailou and they are better than qcy (also made by xiaomi) for the same price
Heard of it, but I’m scared now. Mine lasted a month and a few days. Barely used it.
I bought my redmi airdots 5 months ago when there werent better options (qcy t2c and hailou) and im happy. got used to the small delay. though if mine broke, id get the hailou, it has good touch controls and better sound
my airdots are like a tank, i throw them and they still work, the case is scratched up but besides that they work great
I’d consider the hailou, or the kz bluetooth earphones.
I disagree — I had a cheap pair of [QCY](https://www.gearbest.com/bluetooth-headphones/pp_3003164303992733.html)’s and didn’t like them at all. Sound quality was poor and paring / connecting was a nightmare.
Got the first [Airdots](https://www.gearbest.com/headsets/pp_009395441187.html) after that and used them for quite a while (almost exclusively with Netflix or Spotify while travelling). They were pretty OK, even though I sometimes thought they could have been a little louder with a little more bass.
After a couple of months I handed them down to the kids and got the [Airdots Pro](https://www.gearbest.com/headsets/pp_009359203809.html?wid=1433363). I was very suspicious at first (mainly because the design sucks so much) but OMG the sound is A-MAZING! Definitely much better than the Apple Airpods (did a side-by-side comparison with the same music on both), even though I personally don’t really notice the noise cancelling. Soundwise they are pretty much on par with my old Jaybird Bluebuds (if that helps). I’m also occasionally using them for phone calls / conference calls and that’s working just fine as well.
**TL;DR** (and paging /u/fckns to answer their question): Get the regular Airdots if you’re looking for some really cheap, nicely design headphones if you can live with the bass / volume drawbacks. Get the Airdots pro if you can spend a little more and if you can live with the Airpod design.
How is the cleaning area changing all the time?
Miui is Xiaomi emui is Huawei
They have a max 5% profit on their mobile products based on what they’ve said recently. Not sure about their other products though.
Closed doors sometimes
Disagree, I use a pair of QCYs that are BT 5.0 and can watch videos fine
this kinda looks like their air pod case but bigger
Where are you from?
I have a laptop and their fitness band from them. They are both excellent products and I’d have lid 1.5 times the price for them.
Incredibly good value.
My T1c has a 0.5 s lag
I bought QCY T1 Pro a few weeks ago and im actually surprised how good they are.
SEA
Seems fine. But I’m never far from a charger.
Xiaomis wireless earbuds are of amazing quality as well. Plus they’re only 60 USD versus Apple’s $200 AirPods
I guess that’s OK if you can read Chinese (I can’t) and the website shits itself if you run it through Google Translate…
You’re a Xiaomi fucking casual if you don’t start and end your day with the Xiaomi Doctor B Bass Method antibacterial designer toothbrush®.
The products sold in Taiwan is a 2-pin?
Yes! Same as North American plug.
Oh good to hear! Are prices competitive though to other mi store in Asia?
shit, I alreaddy ordered it
Good luck! Hope you’ll be lucky with your purchase 🙂
Don’t know about google home but you can control it through the xiaomi home app.
They really don’t have the same connected things like Xiaomi.
My mi 8 lite problem is solved after an update. It was not a hardware problem.
Oh, thanks for the update. That is a really weird software issue though.
