Is it worth buying it?
How’s the overall in your experience
Would I be able to get Google play store directly or side load to device.
Pretty good, honestly cant say I notice it being worse than an S Pen. Some sources say its not as good as the regular Mi Pad 5 Pro due to lower polling rate. I dont really remember it being different honestly.
In a vacuum, its pretty damn good. Definitely enjoy doing design work on it.
Definitely sideload. But the process is super easy. The seller even gave the link for the APK. Once its sideloaded, its pretty much as though its a Global model (though it only has English and Chinese)
Dolby vison on Netflix? HdrCheck app can also check all the hdr certifications if Netflix isn’t available
Looking at it on Amazon. For 350 for the tablet
What pen is that? Is it possible to buy it seperately?
I want to get into digital art on tablets and stuff like that so this would be good then? I have the Xiaomi 11t pro and I love it.
Also wondering the same thing. 🤞
The A12 update lost the DV. The update now seems to be rolled back.
So far its very good. Screen looks pretty good though not as good as AMOLED. Its nice and sharp, black levels are decent and white levels are fantastic. Colours pop out nicely and HDR content look good despite it being LCD. 120hz works fine with MiUI 13 being surprisingly snappy and smooth. Honestly, idk what people are talking about when they hate on MiUI, I havent had an issue with it. It just works.
The speakers are pretty decent, not as good as iPads but still good for music, videos and movies. It does lacks some bass and could be a tad cleared but thats just nitpicking.
Performance is great afaik. I dont play mobile games so I dont really have a way to test performance in extreme situations. But what I can say is design work and photo editing work flawlessly with no lag nor hitches. Video editing might not be as smooth but I dont know for sure.
The stylus is one of the nicer ones out there. Its not too heavy or unbalanced like some battery powered styluses. Its shaped very well and has built in wireless charging like an Apple Pencil. Although it doesnt feel as nice as an Apple Pencil, its not far off in my opinion. I can confidently say I like it better than 99% of styluses out there.
Now there is a caveat. Because its a China only model (for now), you do need to take a few steps before its fully usable. Google Play Store needs to be sideloaded, default keyboard needs to be swapped, third browsers need to be installed and bloatware has to be removed
And there is one con that disappoints me. PC mode does not work with the most recent version of MiUI 13. I tried the latest apk and it didnt work. Its honestly a shame since this tablet does have what it takes to be an excellent laptop replacement. The only thing holding it back is the lack of DeX-like functionality.
Overall, very happy with it. Pretty much does everything I want except for the lack of PC mode. I can recommend it, its a solid pick over smtg like the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022. That tablet does have an OLED screen with similar specs but Id be more cautious due to Lenovo’s horrible reputation with software support (some tablets they make dont even get 2 years of updates)
Pretty excellent for the price. It costs me about 500 bucks including the pen, making it only 50 bucks away from a brand new S7 FE. This beats it by LEAGUES and Im very happy that it does.
350 for the 12.4 with shipping? If so, its like the best tablet deal ever.
i legit thought that was an iPad in the first glance due to the widget
I dont watch Netflix (too poor for that) but I have heard that the tablet doesnt have L1. Im pretty sure thats a software issue but as it stands, its stuck on L3.
HDR wise, Im not sure. Ill check later and get back to you.
The pen is the official Mi Pad Stylus. Not sure of the name but its the one with wireless charging. I got it separately for 45 bucks (from China) and works great.
I think it should be fantastic. The Xiaomi stylus is one of the best I have used. I put it neck to neck against the S Pen though it doesnt have as much software functionality (Xiaomi amirite?). The size is also fantastic for design work. I do a lot of photo editing and note taking and boy, 12.4 is great.
Does the pen come with it? Cheapest I see is like 530$ or something on ebay
Yeah, MIUI is like that. Very similar to iPadOS styling. But I like it for that. I rather have it similar to iPadOS instead of OneUI (except for DeX, DeX is awesome).
Once you have Google play installed does Apple TV plus show as available?
I side loaded Google play on a Lenovo tablet and it does not show there.
Does it have video out?
Since you got the Chinese model. Does miui+ work? It doesn’t work on global because some core components are missing. And also is the ui choppy sometimes without reason?
Yes, this model has USB 3.2 Gen 1 and supports DisplayPort Alt mode. I havent tried it myself but Xiaomi has confirmed that it will work.
Afaik, nope.
Nope, its a separate purchase. I got my tablet and the pen for about 540 bucks or so. I do live very close to China so shipping was way cheaper. Your mileage will vary.
I dont detect any choppiness as of right now. I might need more time to fully see if its a problem. As for MIUI+, I think its only available on Xiaomi laptops. I dont own one so cant test that out.
Ahh that’s what it is then no worries ty for the reply definitely will wait for a global version maybe.
Good to hear that there is no big chopping issues. I’ve been thinking of Getting the pad 5 pro. As of miui+ i it is available for any windows computer having WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5. It’s in Chinese of course. But I wouldn’t recommend you downloading it just Couse I’m a bit curious, so I won’t force it on you. 😁
Nice
Can you tell 3 good and 3 bad side from your experience?
Well, as of right now, the app is no longer downloadable and installable via the MIUI+ website. Its locked in a way where the only method to get the program is via an installer which is built into Mi laptops only. It used to be installable on all PCs but doesnt seem to be the case anymore.
Three goods
1. Screen size, colours, refresh rate and brightness are all great. Might be outmatched by AMOLED panels but for the price, totally solid.
2. Stylus is perfect. The shape is ergonomic, weight is low (unlike AAAA battery powered styluses) and comes with magnetic wireless charging (like the Apple Pencil). Performance is good for my use case and secures very well to the tablet (unlike stupid S Pens smh).
3. Build is solid unlike some other tablets (Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022). Its full metal and impressively thin. Camera bump is there but since it has such nice cameras, Im ok with it. Speakers and other stuff are positioned well and work well both in portrait and landscape mode. (Hands might cover them but its normal for quad speakers).
Three bads
1. No PC mode. Easily the biggest wtf things. The latest APKs are completely incompatible and its removed from the Getapps store. Such a shame since a PC mode wouldve easily made this thing an S7 FE annihilator.
2. Some text are in Chinese. This is nitpicky since its not very common but in some cases you do find them like when installing APKs. They arent important in anyway but just something to take note off. Its likely only an issue with CN ROMs so probably not a common issue.
3. Now this is really, really nitpicky. It has a little bit of bloatware. Now, this is not a big issue since even the best of Android will have bloatware. Its very easy to remove them from the tablet so its really not a big issue, but still an issue nonetheless.
I have it too and I only use it for watching videos
Quite a luxury for a Xiaomi device.
The speakers are amazing. Great for content consumption.
Yeah, quite a luxury indeed.
Id say 8/10. IPads would be 10/10, Samsung flagships would be 9/10 and Lenovo/everyone else are probably at 7/10 or lower.
Pretty good, stereo effect is nice and theres plenty of detail. Bass is a little light but not absent.
Depends. For the price, there are very few alternatives with similar specs/screen size. If you only need a tablet for content consumption, its not exactly a great pick. Its a little large for anything other than Netflix, YouTube and game streaming.
But if you need smtg big enough to work on (design, art, typing documents and etc), this is pretty much perfect.
thank you
is this your first device from Xiaomi?
It is actually. Previously used a Surface Pro 3 until I got fed up with its shitty battery life. First time using a Xiaomi tablet and so far so good.
it’s mobile shit, same shit as any tablet, ishit samshit… and so on…
I have an ipad air 3 with pen and keyboard case. I could sell the set for approx £350. Anyone think it would be worth upgrading to this? I want a bigger and brighter display with quicker charging.
Does it have some kind of palm rejection? With/without those drawing gloves?
based vanced user, but i can see that you have normal yt installed too, if you want to uninstall it and other unwanted system apps too i would recommend this tool https://github.com/0x192/universal-android-debloater
When does the successor to the Pad 5 Pro come out? I want one with the SD8+G1 SoC.
Infinite Paint has better input latency than Sketchbook. Krita is very good on a screen that size as well.
What are you doing here if that’s how you think?
Thought it was ipad for a moment
What widgets are you using?
How many apps can you multitask? Two or more? Like opening YouTube, Chrome and discord as an example, whether split screen or windowed
If you install the Xiaomi pc mode APK does pc mode work? Makes the UI look like Samsung Dex sorta style on the tablet. I’m curious to know if it’s any good tbh. How is the display quality and brightness?
Teams app works in landscape mode?
Yes please check for HDR on local files once.
does it have Adobe Fresco available?
I upgraded mine to MIUI 13 and the PC mode apks work.
i have a mi pad 5 since may and the tablet is all good but suddenly i have this weird problem of the pad when i use for a long period of time which is the tablet suddenly crashes itself no matter which app i’m using it will crash itself and go to the homescreen has anyone faced this problem before ? is it the launcher ? is it fixable ?
oh and another one thing when it crash itself the wallpaper goes back to the original wallpaper no matter how many times i change the wallpaper weather it is factory set wallpaper or not , and i hoped the new android 12 will fix this problems but unfortunately it did not fix it at all .
Afaik, the lastest version is incompatible and even the latest available APK (February 2022) doesnt work. I am not sure if its the model of the tablet or the software version but I cant find a way to get it working.
Since Xiaomi removed the app from their app store, it means there wont be any new APKs. Really hope that feature is built in on MIUI 14 (Android 13)….
Well, theres a few apps that check for HDR. According to one, HDR 10, HDR 10 Plus, HDR Dolby (Dolby Vision) and HDR HLG are all supported.
Yeah, Microsoft Teams works in landscape
PC mode apk not working atm. The app just says that its incompatible with the software version and kicks me out.
Display quality and brightness are great. Not AMOLED levels of great but pretty much as good as it gets for LCD. HDR looks nice, colours are fantastic and 120hz is smoooooooothhhh (quite trippy when using the stylus, never seen smtg that smooth before).
Thanks
Normally 2 apps in split screen. You also also open up 2 apps on split screen and have one floating window. If you use YouTube Vanced, you can even have an additional YT floating window. So theoretically, you can get 4 max.
Not great but I dont mind tbh. PC mode wouldve been a godsent but oh well.
Don’t update yet to A12 when it’s available. The tab may lose the DV Hd when that happens.
Thats good to know. Although, some Xiaomi bloat is nice to have (Getapps and a few other CN stuff are nice to have since I do understand a little Chinese)
I keep normal YT in case Vanced ever gets cut off. Its surprising that it works even now but In my experience, good thing dont last .
It does, works fairly well in the apps I use but just like every other tablet, its not perfect. Some apps are better than others but I havent tried enough to say if its good or not.
Now the 67w quick charge is amazing. Legit plugged it at 50%, took a short walk and came back to 100%. Was only like 15 mins so its pretty excellent (your mileage might vary depending on background tasks).
Its also key to note that you gotta buy the pen separately. I think its 40 pounds or so and the official keyboard is even more expensive. I only opted for the pen and bought a cheap wireless mechanical keyboard instead of the original.
When it comes to OS, its pretty ok, not as fully fledged as iPadOS but sufficient imho. You might miss Pro Create so do take that into account.
Display brightness is 500nits which is pretty good for general use even outdoors. Not sure if its brighter than an iPad but its pretty solid in my experience. I live in SEA and even with the tropical sun, the screen is still viewable.
Notably, android does have some nice perks. You can install any APK you want (provided they are compatible) and have access to a bunch of GitHub apps. I used an iPad Air (the OG model) and hated that I couldnt add independent apps. You also have more customization options like custom ROMs and Magisk components.
So whether to get it is all up to you. The bigger screen is a plus for work so it might not be a bad deal.
Hard to say tbh. I think itll be the middle or end of next year but its a longshot guess. SD8G1 is probably possible but I dont really too big of a reason for Xiaomi to go that route. It might make the tablet more expensive and competing head to head with Samsung is not a good business move.
Pretty sure thats an IOS exclusive so no.
Not a matter of choice since it already comes with the latest versions of MIUI 13. It is what it is for a brand new tablet, I expected the software to be spotty and Im not surprised.
The stock ones that came with the tablet. Didnt change anything except for the clock (removed Beijing Time).
Thanks for the recommendations. I use sketchbook for simplicity when doodling but will definitely up my game later on.
Does this have the same “unable to view dark scenes with HDR” issue? I heard that issue was prevalent in the non-pro version.
Idk what that issue means but I dont have a good way to test it. I dont own Netflix.
I am talking about this – https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/ut57xx/is\_the\_mi\_pad\_5\_hdr\_as\_bad\_as\_what\_people\_say/
why does adobe have to hate on the android users, even WINDOWS has fresco
That’s MIUI for you. The best of iOS is copied, and the best/rest from Android is there.
Is that tablet an import? Like is it from china? Because I don’t know if there’s a global version of it yet.
The pc app apk that everyone was talking about with the Mi pad 5 release doesn’t work with this new 12.4?
Yes, its an import. The global version doesnt exist as of right now
I’m on MIUI 13.0.6 and it still works for me.
Krita is the closest thing to a Photoshop experience on Android. It’s much more than upping your game in this case. As for Infinite Paint, it’s not really any more complicated than Sketchbook. It just has a much better brush engine and a lot more choice in brushes. It’s probably the closest thing to Procreate on Android to the point it even resembles it in some ways. MediBang is nifty as well for something a bit more.
No, it doesnt. This tablet has the lastest MIUI 13 and afaik, it doesnt work. Someone also talked about this issue on Reddit. He had a Mi Pad 5 Pro so its probably a software limitation.
Adobe in a nutshell. They have a reputation for this sort of crap.
Well, I tested with a 10 bit HDR file and I still dont get fully what the problem described in the post is.
The only thing I noticed was reduced brightness and washed out blacks. This isnt surprising since LCDs do not have pixel based back lighting. The video still looks fine to me in my experience.
Im on MIUI 13.1.6 and it straight up says its incompatible. It could be a Mi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 issue but someone else have also said their 11 inch model had the same issue with the latest APK. But its fine, I can live with it for now
How to
1 get rid of google app on swipe left and swipe up
2.Get YouTube to play in fullscreen on landscape
3.any way to use it as a second screen without third party apps?
4. Where did you get the pen? Any discounts possible :p
I’m confused.
Are you on MIUI 12.4 or 13.1.6?
Idk how bad it can be because I haven’t tested it myself but thanks I feel like I am leaning towards buying it when it releases now.
Not OP, but he means that the tablet size is 12.4
My mistake. I didn’t even realize they had just released a new model with the same specs but 1.4 inches larger.
Odd decision!
Well… for what it’s worth, mine is the 11″ and MIUI+ and PC mode work great.
Yeah, the newer MIUI does limit things. But I still cant get MIUI+ to work. Cant find the PC app download link. Seems to be removed from the official site, a real bummer.
Idk what you mean by the Google app swipe thing.
I also dont know what issues you have with YT. Youtube plays perfectly fine in both landscape and portrait. YouTube Vanced also works without any issues (even the floating video screen works).
Im not sure if Xiaomi has a built in feature that allows the tablet to be used as a secondary display. You should probably ask the others on this subreddit since Im no MIUI expert.
I got the pen from the tablet seller who ships from China. I live in SEA so Chinese sellers can pretty much directly list products on my local e-shopping platform (Shopee). You can try Aliexpress if you cant find it anywhere else.
Discount wise, unlikely. Its a brand new model (like, no English review in all of YouTube new) so I doubt Xiaomi is gonna smack it with a promo so early in its lifetime. That being said, it is already a killer deal at this price. You are looking at the price of a brand new S7 FE but with drastically better specs and design. Only limitation is software which could be fixed later on.
I mean when you swipe left/up from home it’s going to Google search. In mobile theres a toggle for this
YouTube or vanced isn’t directly going fullscreen in landscape, I have to do it manually
Ah, Google Search bar isnt a thing on this model. Since this model only exists in the China ROM variant, Google services arent available. Hell, you cant even set Google as default search engine on the built in browser. You can still install Google Play Store and all the apps work fine (provided they are Android 12 compatible).
This isnt an issue in my experience. Everything is laid out in landscape whether fullscreen or not. When selecting fullscreen, it does it normally just like every other Android tablet, it goes to whatever orientation you are using the device at.
Username absolutely checks out
General noob question here ,Im considering buying the Mi Pad 5 Pro, Ive not owned a tablet since the Ipad Mini 2. How good are tablet right now, can you run any app without any lag ? I am a heavy user of Evernote with tons of notes can i open / close notes/images/link without any latency ?
Thanks, its very board question i know.
Cheers
Its pretty damn good in my experience. Ive had 3 apps opening simultaneously with no hitches at all. The pen works very well for taking notes and the larger size of the 12.4 inch model makes all the difference.
dunno, i do like the xiaomi phones for being phones, i do not see the point of tablets.
Tablets are not phones and are not designed for the same purpose. Tablets are geared much more towards creativity and productivity and are also much, much better for media consumption. Full featured office suite, music DAW, photo editing all while being significantly more portable than any laptop. Why wouldn’t you want all that extra screen space? Samsung even provide a full desktop environment on their tabs for those that require it. They cram all that latest hardware in to phones that are too small to make the most of it and it does my head in.
lol. creativity. i prefer a normal powerful laptop/pc…
Apple put the same CPUs in their tablets as they do their macbooks. Don’t be deceived. Again, laptops are much less portable and desktops can’t be moved at all.
yes ishit.. mobile chip. cpu lol.
Again, don’t be deceived. Even the M1 has faster single core performance than a 5950x.
Can you use the stylus along with wireless BT earphones?
I was thinking of buying stylus and third party keyboard as well. Will either of these input devices work along with a BT audio device?
Idk how many devices the bluetooth can handle at the same time but my guess is two or more. The way I use it, I have the stylus and earphones connected via bluetooth while a keyboard and mouse are both connected via OTG USB (with dock).
It works pretty good for light work.
What does the search icon do in the app bar?
Same as search function in any Android device. Searches within all apps and settings of the device.
I don’t tbh i really like it
There’s the revanced project that does on-device patching of official YouTube APKs. They recently released the manager app for Android, so you can use that if you want.
I just used the original YT Vance since it never broke for me, but then switched to Revanced since it has some nice patches like removing the “try premium” nagscreen every time you open YT Music
> need to take a few steps before its fully usable. Google Play Store needs to be sideloaded, default keyboard needs to be swapped, third browsers need to be installed and bloatware has to be removed

Have you been able to get the desktop mode working so far ? I believe on the true global 11 inch version it works, doesn’t it ? If so I guess I will get the 11, but it would be nice to get the 12.4 if desktop works somehow.
The PC mode apk has not been updated to work with the 12.4 inch tablet. The app used to be available on the App Gallery but was removed. My guess is that they ditched it because they plan to add the feature into MIUI 14 itself.
But for now, its unavailable for the tablet.
Very unfortunate as from what it seems, it is available for the global 11 inch. I’ve seen 12.4 inch version popping up with the global rom apparently flashed on them. Have you been using the chinese rom this whole time? Perhaps that’s an option to consider, flashing the global rom and checking compatibility. In the past, I’ve personally had weird compatibility issues on Chinese Xiaomis get fixed by flashing another ROM in the past. It can be a pain to do so but it’d be worth trying if you already own it!
Looks like I might wait for the Mi pad 6 honestly. The global version 11 inch is very good for the price and I could probably save a buck and deal with the smaller screen, but I’m afraid 6gb ram won’t be enough for some functionalities of LR mobile aswell which is a total deal breaker if it is the case, not sure I wanna take the risk. The pro has 8 and 12gb variants, but the compatibilities of those flashed roms and future support from Xiaomi is pretty uncertain.
Plus the pro (11 inch or 12.4) is quite a big step up in price, just for a minor spec bump to SD 870. Imo the 12.4 is worth it for the price (the pro 11, not so much honestly), but I don’t think I can compromise on PC mode and certainty of future update support.
The future Mi pad 6 is rumored to have a SD 8 gen 1, which is probably gonna make the premium price more worthwhile. Since both 12.4 and 14(!) inch variants are rumored for it, it seems a lot more likely that at least the 12.4 will have a global release. However after a rumor that it’d be released this summer, nothing seems to be on the horizon. The only tablet that was rumored to come out that did is the Redmi pad, which looks fantastic for media consumption, but won’t fit my needs for productivity.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad you’re enjoying it, it looks like a fantastic tablet for the price nonetheless! You’ve helped me make my decision, thanks a lot 🙂 cheers
Afaik, the 12.4 inch does not have a Global ROM. The tablet is only sold in China atm, therefore the only ROM for this tablet is the China one. Anyone advertising Global is likely either faking it (installing Google Play and calling it global) or flashing a generic MIUI ROM (might have missing features).
As for future support, its likely the 12.4 will have at least 2-4 years of updates. MIUI 14 is expected to come with big changes, probably with some type of PC mode integrated.
And the idea that the Mi Pad 6 might come with Gen 1 is suspicious. If it does, it will likely cost much more than the Mi Pad 5 at launch. Possibly reaching Samsung territory. The whole appeal of the 12.4 is its value. For 550 bucks, it massacres the S7 Lite. If the Pad 6 costs around the same as a Samsung, might as well go for those instead.
Theres also the Xiaoxin Pad but that thing is infamous for its piss poor software support. There were several cases where Lenovo sent out bugged updates which they had to roll back. And even then, the updates are few and far between, perhaps lasting 2 years or so.
And to be perfectly honest, PC mode isnt that necessary. I use the 12.4 for school work and well, 8t works fine. Split screen and windowed apps work well enough for general work imho.
Hey man sorry to bother you again, but I was wondering if you ever use the pad 5 as a secondary display. I have a 15 inch laptop and the 12.4 would be much better than the 11 for that. I’m trying to convince myself I need the 12.4 lol. Do you know of any apps that work well for that ? thanks !
https://www.alphr.com/use-android-second-monitor/
I bought one for my self too!
Do you have any problems about sync the Mi Pen? I have tried so many ways but the pen does not work
I have no issues with the pen. Just charge it, a prompt to connect shows up and wait for it to finish.
Can you record on Google Meet if it’s on desktop mode?
There is no desktop mode
No HDR or full HD on Netflix?. If so this tablet looses all its purpose for me
Oh alright thanks
Has somebody been able to get PC Mode working while on MIUI13?
Nope, the app has been depreciated and no longer updated. I think its likely that PC mode will be built into MIUI 14 so just gotta wait and see.
Thank you bro , so please let me know how to download Google services and , do you recommend this tab based on your experience with it , im willing to order one as soon as possible so please let me know ?
Well, I personally find it perfect except for the lack of PC mode for now (Hope MIUI 14 add it in). It is snappy, has plenty of power, battery lasts long and charges super fast, has pretty good pen functionality and costs less than a midrange smartphone. Was able to run emulator to play Nintendo Switch games as well. Mostly use it for YouTube, movies, college work and it hasnt given me any issues yet.
Software wise its solid. Google services can be installed through online APKs and afaik, all apps work (except for outdated ones like the PC mode apk). 120hz works well on apps that support it though its not that important for regular use. Pen works well with art apps like Sketchbook and Infinite Painter, though the buttons dont work properly for toggling eraser (only TouchNotes work).
Only downside for some people is no Widevine support but as someone who doesnt use streaming subcriptions like Netflix or Disney+, I dont really care. Its LCD, not OLED which might bother people but again, I really dont care (LCD has no burn in so thats actually better for longevity). Speakers sound pretty good actually but not as good as iPad Pro. No 3.5mm jack which us sad but Im used to it now (fuck Apple).
As for recommendation, I think its solid. If you need a 12.4 inch tablet for less than 500 dollars, this is the one to get. The only competitor is the Xiaoxin Pad but Idk if I trust Lenovo since they are known for having very few updates (some of them are super buggy too). Plus, lastest model of the Xiaoxin has a shitty plastic build, almost like a toy. It does have OLED which is nice but thats something you either care about or dont.n
Is ur netflix quality poor? I just happen to got it and it seems very bad the quality when watching video on netflix. Any fix ?
That is normal. As said, it doesnt have Widevide level 1, so, no 720p or 1080p streaming. Only 480p. I use Streamio so no issues for me.
What ia it like in 2023 feb?
Still fantastic. Used it a lot for college assignments. As someone studying communications, pen support is like a revelation, Im never going back fr. 120hz is also glorious, makes drawing a breeze.
Fast charging is also fantastic. Coupled with the large battery, I pretty much never run out of charge unless I forget to charge it before sleeping.
As for downsides, theres only 2 minor ones. One is the lack of accessories. They have to be purchased straight from China which is quite a headache. The second is the lack of SD slot. Wouldve loved more storage but oh well, beggers cant be choosers.
Hii! So i spent a good few minutes scrolling and reading through these comments here so I could get some reviews on the tablet. I noticed that you said the tablet was available from your local e-shopping app. May I ask the name of the seller? I saw one selling the pad 5 pro 12.4 on Shopee, store name: winmishop. Is this it? I’ve been wating to buy this one for months and so far your reviews are great! Its been hard to look for reviews on Youtube for this specific tablet. Thanks!
Also, one more thing. Not sure if you already know but Xiaomi already released the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro with a SD 8+ Gen 1 proc, 8600 MAH, and 11* screen. Now Im stuck between the pad 5 pro 12.4 or this new one. I really love the 12″ screen size and 10k+ battery on it though. Any thoughts on the new tablet? Thanks so much!!
The 6 Pro is just a spec refresh. Screen, battery size, software, price, theyre all the same as the 5 Pro. Only real difference is the chip and better stylus (not by that much). Imho, it comes down to your use case. If you dont plan to game with the tablet, there is no reason to go with the 6 Pro asside from potential future software support.
The 12.4’s chip has never given me any performance issues. The larger screen and battery helps a lot with productivity which is the key use case for me. Id say go with that instead if you are serious about using it for work. Nevertheless, gaming works very well too though dont expect it to be as good as the more recent chips. I only play emulated games and for that, the SD870 is plenty powerful.
If entertainment is important, Id say wait for the Oneplus Pad. Its pretty much identical to the 6 Pro, only real difference is that it uses a Mediatek chip (same performance though). It has one key benefit which is confirmed international release, meaning Widevine is not gonna be an issue like on the Xiaomi Pro tablets.
I purchased from Sweetheart Tech on Shopee. Bought the stylus from there as well.
I cannot make or join calls with MS teams on my Xiaomi Tab 5 Pro running on MIUI14.
Teams gives a notification that my device needs phone permissions. However, the permission option “Make phone calls” is simply not available to choose. I checked my Xiaomi Fold 2 phone where it is working correctly and there is the permission “make phone calls” available.
I can make video calls with WhatsApp so it seems it is not a hardware limitation.
Anyone a solution for this?
Has the Widevine level ever been fixed for this? Is Netflix and Amazon still SD only? Such a waste on a screen this size if it is.
Nope. Unfortunately, its still only L3.
I personally go for the eyepatched man way of streaming which wont run into problems anyway.
Bummer. Cheers. Was seriously considering one buy that’s a dealbreaker for me.
How is it after an year bro ?
How do you download Google apps?
Hi do you still have this tablet? Do you get any stuttering when multi tasking? Like when you’re split screening, do you feel like the apps lose performance?
Thank you
Yeah, still use the tablet.
I dont experience stutterring when multitasking and dont really notice slowdowns. But I usually only use MS Office with YT, so not really the most power intensive apps.
Id imagine itll be ok with most softwares. Adobe Lightroom is the only app I have experienced lag in, but thats probably because Adobe is shit at making android apps.
Thank you. Only asking because I’m interested on getting the 6s pro and a reviewer is mentioning lag when split screening, which I find weird considering it has quite the poweful CPU. If the 5 pro doesn’t lag then 6s pro should be fine.
Well idk about that. CPU power means nothing when the software isnt well optimized. It could just be an issue with newer products not having enough time to be perfected.
Or maybe standards are just different. Reviewers have access to the best of the best, so even things that are good enough for most people may seem disappointing to them.
Yeah I seem to believe that it’s poorly optimised software. It’s using hyperOS.
Well, the 5 pro is also updated to hyperOS. I dont notice anything different except for a few UI changes tbh.
That’s interesting. Have you disabled anything in the options or debloated it to make it snappier?
Nop. Maybe im not that much of a power user so didnt really notice
Alright, no worries. Appreciate your input about it, thank you
Hi, how has your user experience been over the past two years? Also, is your tablet the Chinese version or the official global version?
It’s still going strong for me. Gotten a few accessories to keep it relevant for me, a USB hub, a keyboard case and the new Xiaomi Pen (designed for the Pad 6 but works on the old one too). So far, I have yet to uncover any major problems tbh.
The tablet is Chinese version only, it has never been released globally so that kind of version doesn’t exist (anyone marketing it as global is using a ROM designed for a different device, not worth it imho).
