1st Picture is the Mi 10t, 2nd is the Mi 8
So Yesterday I got my brand new Mi 10t as a replacement for my Mi8 because its battery couldnt bring me trough the day anymore. When I opened the camera on the Mi 10t and took some photos i couldnt believe how bad they were. Why does My brand new 10t take worse photos than my over 2 year old Mi 8?
And why do you need such a HUGE camera bump when the camera you put in there is crap?
I am so disappointed right now and dont know if i should keep the phone…
Are you sure it is an original?
Maybe take a look at the settings in the camera 📸
Yeah the same happened to me when i compare my old oneplus 6 with poco f2 pro and note 9s you can solve that with gcam
This is the reason why I skipped this generation of phones. Camera is just not good enough for low light. You can get gcam from here and it will be much better. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-urnyx05/
I have a Mi 10T Pro 5G and I can say that photos in low light come quite good
However, check some settings: try disabling AI camera, if you have, since it increases the contrast and (might) blows up highlights, enable/disable HDR to check what is best for that particular scenario, enable NIGHT MODE, if you can (requires steady camera).
I’m still using my Mix 3 5G with Urnyx latest GCAM and it takes great shots in low light. It uses the same 12 MP primary as the Mi 8.
Pictures taken by mobile phones are only for mobile viewing.
Original phone? Yes, I got it from my Carrier
I dont really see a difference with gcam/ its even worse, wich version and config do you use?
I don’t know which sensors they use now
Sony is much better than Samsung sensor’s
They used Sony and they shifted now to Samsung on newer models, not sure if all use that 64mpx Samsung sensor.
Try Gcam as other suggested.
It’s a sony sensor, the imx 582
Same as on my mi 9t
For low light photos Gcam is unbeatable…
Try burial gcam
Stock Xiaomi cam is better for some other scenarios like food, landscape, widecam…

I have a Mi9, not going to buy the 10 series. Next time watch review videos.
Actually, the Mi 10T has a Sony IMX 682. I don’t know about the differences between these two sensors tho, except for the resolution
The reviews i watched didnt say that it was bad 😂
how did you get this image on you phone? some file transfer methods compress the image
Via bluetooth to the mi 8
I’ve come from the Huawei P30 Pro and personal I prefer the results of the M10T Pro for what I use it for. I also went to the beach on Sunday and took some pics in 108mp mode. 🤯 TBF I’m also long overdue a trip to the opticians. So…
Well, I have used Urnyx05/gcam versions both for my old Mi9TPro and the Poco f2 pro that I use now. The lowlight mode is better with gcam. But normal/daylight is the same and the stock camera is better then gcam in macro mode.
Use gcam, especially trcam and search for configs.
Makes hell of a difference.
I suggest you to get Arnova8G2’s mod. He makes the best ones for Xiaomi phones. But I actually think a stable version for your device hasn’t come out yet. Coz these take time. So try a few weeks later. There is no way GCam takes worse photos or bad photos if you find a good one
[These are the APKs from Arnova8G2](https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2/)
Then maybe factory defect!
MI 8 with gcam is one of the best tbh.
YouTube reviewers are all paid by Xiaomi well most are .. I bought phone for my wife but personally I don’t love the camera .. mind you it’s still a new device they will optimise and update the camera I will imagine
Are you definitely running latest update
Yeah I was gonna say both pics look. Reddit will compress videos though hard so that will effect what we are seeing vs what you are seeing on your display
8 times out of 10 my Mi 6 outdoes my K20 pro and my Mi 10 Ultra! Nowadays performance can vary and be subjective. For example, the Ultra’s aberration from having such a large sensor with such a tiny lens really detracts.
Either way and in this case, always use gcam
What’s gcam? I can only find gcam tool in the Google playstore.
It’s google camera it’s a camera app port from Google pixel here is a link from where i got it: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/configs-onfire-02/
What were you expecting? Mi 10T is a mid ranger, Mi 8 is a flagship.
You’re high huh?
Erm nope
That’s the same sensor google is using in their pixels for years now
Do you have Mi 10T or Mi 10T Pro?
I got Mi 10 as a replacement for Mi 8, and Mi 10 have a better camera (frond and main sensor). Problem with Mi 10 camera is focus of the subject nearby. It can be solved by moving away from the subject and 2x zoom (108mpx crop photo, but quality is the same).
Mi 10T is Poco F2 with new design and minor changes. Nothing special, just medium price budget phone. Camera is just average. Sell it and add more money and buy Mi 10.
Mi 10 is better then Mi 9. And Mi 8 has a better camera then Mi 9.
Imx682/686 is an average budget sensor (250-400$ phones with few exceptions), Imx363 is former decent that’s why it’s used by google for many years in a row. (Pixels 2 to 5). Also latest not utilizing dumb quad pixel technology which probably doesn’t do anything good for image quality (if not harms it, even at native lower resolution)
These two are comparable so Idk why you expected improvements and lag behind of what mobile industry may suggest these days.
so basically mi8~ mi10 in terms of camera :p
Mi10 has worse camera performance in low light than Mi9. Mi8 has better low light than Mi9.
Haha, not true. Mi 10 has better camera performance than Mi 9 and Mi 8. Mi 9 has a budget camera sensor, without OIS… Mi 8 has better camera than Mi 9 in all conditions.
I compared Mi 8 and Mi 10 cameras (both are mine) and Mi 10 has a better quality even with Gcam on Mi 8. Night mode on Mi 10 is better (but photos are slightly darker) than Mi 8 with night sight. Photos has a better sharpness, clarity and contrast, and much less noise. Focus speed is better on Mi 8 Gcam. Daylight photos is nice at both, but details are better on Mi 10 (new sensor, bigger resolution).
I mean to compare Mi10t sorry. Mi10 is way out of the price range compared to 8 and 9.
Mi 10T Pro has a completely different flagship tier main camera.
Because the Mi 8 is a flagship. The Mi 10T is a mid ranger with a cut down camera as one of the saving, why not do research before buying?
The 108MP sensor in the Mi 10T Pro has excellent low light performance.
No, it’s a mid range phone with a mid range camera compared to a flagship phone.
If they wanted a good camera they should have read reviews and got the Mi 10 or Mi 10T Pro, at least they have a good main sensor.
In what sense? The advice I gave is valid for whatever smartphone you use, expeciay if of the same brand and with similar technology.
Don’t have time to argue but Mi8 and Mi9 were 450eur phones at launch. Mi10t is 450eur. How can you say that a 800 eur phone can be compared?
Because Xiaomi phones got more expensive for the same product recently in a general sense.
I can compare it like that because that’s how it is. Price is irrelevant, its intended to be lower end and it is lower end. Clue is in the name given it is not called Mi 10. Its a mid ranger with a flagship SOC.
The Pro has the flagship level 108mp sensor which is huge and produces much better images than the mid range IMX 586 and its derivatives. Some IMX 586 are better than others given sensor isn’t everything. Lens and processing is a huge factor.
Can confirm, I have a Mi 8
Mi8 camera was actually great, with big sensor and big pixels. So resolution is still better than new flagships. But dynamic range was not stellar on the other hand.
What you need to understand is that the s9+ was a flagship but the 9 pro is a low midranger.
I think i’m gonna do that, so is anyone interested in a 2 Day old Mi 10T? 😛
Does ported gcam work on any phone nowadays? Used to be the phone had to be using the same camera hardware as a Pixel phone, no?
It works.
Thanks for letting me know, I’ve been holding off on upgrading from my Mix 2S because I didn’t want to lose gcam…
tbh they both look like crap the mi 10t more so.
I regret not just paying more for Mi10, my PocoF2 pro camera is garbage compared to my old Mi9
Android 10 problème
Lol, mine quality from mi 10t is more better than from your video, even in low light conditions (with AI off especially). I think or you need avoit shacking when you take photos, try to change settings or just clean lens and be steady. This phone takes very good photos, more than in this video, trust me. Plus, sometimes gcam help it
His settings really help.
This phone have IMX 682 differences is not too big between pro and t normal version also sometimes T take photos more good than pro version because sony. Plus, yes, you need to change aspect ratio to 3:4 because with more or lower picture quality will suffer
so on a budget, what redmi or mi phone now can meet the mi 8 in performance? my mi8 broke, but i dont want to get another mi8!
Mi 12X. Perfect combo.
does come with quite the price hike haha.. but will look into it. Are any of the older mi11 variants good enough? oh i and i do mean just camera. tbh even the redmi note 8 processor is fast enough forme
