I have the Xiaomi 15 (not ultra) and it has not been working over past couple of days. A notification used to always appear to confirm that charging would stop at 80% but now it doesn’t and the phone charges all the way to 100%. Tried turning the setting off and on which doesn’t seem to have made any difference.
bro i turned off its sub setting, and restarted, somehow it works again
By the sub setting, do you mean the “smart charging”? I tried turning that off, but didn’t restart so maybe that’s the answer?
does your battery protect work now?
No, seemingly nothing gets it working again for me….
Just to update on this…..
I have read that other phones with this feature or similar need to do a “calibration charge” once in a while. This is to ensure the battery’s capacity continues to be measured correctly.
I have tested this, and it seems to be the case here too.
-You have to let the phone charge to 100% and stay on charge for a short time after that (so that it is established that the battery has truly charged to its maximum capacity).
-Then once disconnected from charging and it starts discharging again the calibration seems to complete fairly quickly. Returning the phone to charge once it is down to say 97% then brings up the 80% cap notification again and it will not charge until it is back below that cap.
I am not sure how often exactly these calibration charges are required, and it would be helpful if there was some kind of notification to explain that this is what’s happening.
Presumably, you could theoretically go on for a long time charging the phone to 99% each time and never quite completing the calibration.
Same for me since yesterday… very weird
Thanks, I’ll try to charge to 100% and see if the notification and protection come back
I also got this same problem recently, OP Have you managed to fix it? If yes how do you do it?
seems like it occurs from time to time still, as another comment mentioned its just routine battery recalibration… i wish the OS would tell us though
How do you do battery recalibration?
i think the phone does it automatically
