It also voids your warranty, so don’t expect to be covered if anything goes wrong, it’s surprisingly easy to brick a device if you don’t know what you’re doing. [Xiaomi’s site](http://xiaomi.eu) is probably your best bet to get started if you need help.
*Side note: The EU ROM does get more updates but expect them to be region-specific or so minor it’s not even a problem if you don’t switch.*

My experience with Xiaomi phones is that they get updates once every 3-4 months. When a model first launched it will get updates more frequently at first (especially if it’s a flagship or high-profile model) to get rid of any initial bugs and encourage people who are on the fence about buying the phone which is currently being actively marketed to make the purchase. After 6 months or so the update cycle slows down to once every 3-4 months.
The tablets get software updates more frequently (around once every 4-6 weeks) maybe because Xiaomi sells way fewer tablet models than phone models.
If you have a Chinese model running the official Chinese ROM it receives software updates more often because they don’t need to go through the Google Certification Process.

Literally just got the Ultra 15, 4 weeks ago. If you are always waiting on the next phone you will always be waiting.
