Hi everyone,
I’m in a bit of a predicament and desperately need some technical help with my new **Redmi Note 14 5G**.
About two weeks ago, I had to buy this phone in a hurry after my previous one was unfortunately stolen. I got it from a local carrier at a good price, but when I try to add cards to Google Wallet (Google Play Wallet), I get a message saying **”device is not Play Protect certified.”**
I’ve tried a few things to fix it: clearing the cache for Google Play and Google Play Services, and even registering the Google Framework, but nothing worked. I downloaded an app to check my device version, and instead of “beryl,” it shows “citrine.” It even says I’ll never receive HyperOS 3 or any other Android version, which seems completely illogical since there are newer global versions than my current HyperOS.
I tried to return the phone, but the carrier won’t take it back. They sent it to Xiaomi’s technical service, and even though I specifically told them I had problems with NFC, they checked everything *except* the NFC functionality. So, they won’t give me my money back, and while my consumer rights claim is progressing, I’m hoping there’s something I can do in the meantime.
I even tried to update my device manually, but it just says **”This ROM cannot be flashed.”** The phone has OS1.0.9.0.UOQMIXM, and it won’t let me update to any newer version, even when trying to change regions. I spoke directly with Xiaomi in my country, and they washed their hands of it, arguing that because I bought it from a carrier, they can’t interfere with their ROMs. However, this device didn’t even come with a carrier ROM!
Is there anything that can be done to solve this problem? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
