Hello !
Maybe you should have problem like me with the Xiaomi’s bulb and in particular with the model *Mi Smart LED Bulb Essential (White and Color)*.
I would like to share my solution with reddit’s community.
So my model is: MJDPLOIYL
First, I follow the the installation and…. No Connections, Fail !
I tried again, again and again.
I had the apps the last version MI HOME, my network was in 2.4 Ghz and 802.11 b/g/n, I check my network, I have reset the bulb, the location was on, the BT was on but… connection failed
after I tried with an other smartphone… connection failed.
I delete Mi Home cache, I have uninstalled Mi Home, I have reinstalled Mi Home… no ~~fuck’in~~ connections.
After research I tried this process:
1/ I had Connected the bulb to a hotspot:
I use two smarphone. The first is the hotspot and the second will connect the bulb to the hotspot.

and…whoua ! The bulb has been successfully connected.
2/ I had updated the bulb’s firmware, and I disconnected the hotspot.
3/ I go in my router
In security, I change the level to low as recommended on Gearbest’s blog (Fix Xiaomi Yeelight RGBW E27 bulb APP connection problem)
3/ I had reset the bulb (on/off 5 times)
4/ I follow the installation and…. WHOUAAAA the bulb is connected !!!!!!
Conclusion:
I don’t if the firmware update played an important role, but it helps to know if the problem comes from bulb or not.
